Zodiacal Light - Cosmic Dust Reflection

ZODIACAL LIGHT is an astronomical phenomenon in which a diffuse cone of light glows off the horizon. This is sometimes called FALSE DAWN. This event is caused by sunlight scattering from cosmic dust in the plane of our Earth’s orbit. Learn how to identify the zodiacal light and what causes it.

Great lesson.. It is really amazing. Thanks for the nice description. I have one question.. When this phenomenon occurs before the sunrises? I mean by how many minutes or hours before the the sunrise it occurs.?

It's tough for me to answer this one since I can't speak from personal experience. I've only observed the zodiacal light in the evening. I would guess that it is visible right before the sunrises...perhaps 30-40 minutes beforehand.

Pretty cool. Latest science says the dust comes from Mars

I've seen this a year ago and I was easily fascinated by it. At first I thought it was just a cloud, but minutes later and it hadn't change its shape and its location. That time I really thought that was the Milky Way though. I'm in a tropical region so I wish to see this again! I'm gonna look for it later as I look for Andromeda galaxy. I hope it's visible.
