He's not being sarcastic. He's speaking the truth. Zlatan was on point when he said that about Guiseppe. He's not a coach, he's a headmaster who controls adults as if they have no minds of their own. Football to him is like a math lesson. There is no room for personal creativity. He must do as he says because he's the know-all. And if you don't play exactly the way he wants you to, you're benched, and then the next thing, you're sold. Ask Thiery Henry, Eto'o, and Touré.

@Akua Ache He's only speaking the truth if you're unintelligent. The number of players who have thrived under Pep is astounding. You've picked a handful that Pep didn't want to keep. Every manager worth his salt has sold good players because they didn't fit his ethos, system, style, or philosophy. If Pep doesn't feel that Haaland doesn't fit in his system. He will sell him on, and there's nothing wrong with that. I'd rather the coach have the ego, than if the players did.

@@SrMway I'm not claiming that Pep is some sort of faultless angel, far from it. But Eto o is another player with a massive ego. He even told Pep he didnt respect him because pep wasnt a world class footballer in his eyes. We ofc will never know the exact details of every interaction but Peps mentality seems simply to be, that the team's performance is more important than the wishes of an individual player. Some players cant deal with that (like cancelo recently) and that is also understandable and fine. But I dont think its an ego thing for Pep.

I'm not saying Pep is an demon either, he's a great manager but he has a problem with certain players seemingly for no good reason. He's a perfectionist, that is the root of his flaws, he can't accept imperfections. For example Yaya was playing so delightfully that even I a united fan fell in love with him but he's a little overweight, slightly so he has to be benched!
