You hit all the points to why I never bought one and then added some more!
Company’s that try to branch out and make a different type of product usually end up sucking. It seems to me that they bank on their name selling said product instead of making a quality designed product. Idk jus my 2 cents lol

@@maxsleight apple did make a branded victorinox cybertool, they didn’t directly make one but collaborated and branded their company on knifes I think
When I saw this product on their website I thought it was dumb because it was gimmicky. I use axes and hatchets all the time because I'm cutting firewood from late august-March and like you i like something that's comfortable to use. That's why I bought a fiskars axe a couple months ago
i remember the review of when you got this....wow you still got it...respect...i love the liters...the hand warmers were great 20 years ago..
Great video 👍 informative. keen eye. Reasonable approach to addressing the products issues as well as its strengths. Thanks!
Has it been this long already? still love this channel
I bought one of these a few years ago and the plastic handle shattered the first time I used it on some harder wood. I broke the rest of the plastic off and removed the saw latches completely and wrapped it up with paracord and it's so much better.
Oh I remember this original video - great vid thanks for the updated Jeff! #NEPAlife
I like to buy hand forged hatchets and axes from Sweden, Hults Bruk etc. , that thing looks like it has a lot of utility
I remember when you did the first video on this tool Jeff. Hard to believe it's been 8 years since then. Where did the time go?
Ah I remember this thing Interesting idea, poor execution ☹ Difficult to make multipurpose tools like this work
I was really considering buying one of these. I’m glad I didn’t.
Also good review Jeff!!!
Zippo - STAY IN YOUR LANE - stick with lighters, maybe the fire starters
75 dollars? My heart almost stopped, good lord you can get 5 good tools and hamburger with that kind of money, fiskars axe, fiskars bow saw, mora knife and an actual zippo.
Saved me alot of money
Looks like it would be perfect for BattlBox
How about some storytime updates too??
I agree, they make good lighters, that's about it.
Want a fun project, take the saw blades and build a wooden bowsaw frame for them.
There are two more holes in the saw closer to each other, can you use them as anchors? If so it could help with the flexing.

no I should have pointed it out but the stickers cover the second set of holes and it clearly states to ONLY use the outside set, after reading your comment I checked and if you use either of the second set it wont lock it and is unusable
I was taught to only use the back of the hatchet to drive tent steaks and to tap them in without swinging the hatchet like a hammer but would be nice if they would have made a better cover no sense in a cover if it can’t hold up that camp axe just looks really uncomfortable zippo should stick to lighters lol but any time you try and make something have multiple functions each function will work less and less than intended the more you add tool wise the less that tool will be reliable I prefer tools that are one specific tool and don’t try and be a all in one deal
Damn. That video was from 8 years ago? 😳
Crusades is the mother company for Gerber.
You'd be much better off using a traditional wood handle axe (of which there are many variations) and a dedicated wood saw.
A much smarter relative came up with the lighter design,it's like ford trying to make airplanes heh
I walked away as soon as I saw made in china! Zippo owns Case Knives. They should have made a quality tool in Bradford Pennsylvania!

Case knives are junk now also
I don't trust any of the crap from bradford that ain't case knives and OG zippo lighters, and I guess roseart stuff. From their butane lighters, to their office doodads, to the camping gear. Everyone says it sucks and I knew it would from the start. At best the butane inserts are ok because they're made by Zorro, who makes nice 1 handed operation lighters anyway albeit mainlanders.
Pretty sure its an emergency survival tool. Not for building a log cabin
That bad?
These 4 in 1 tools are usually garbage. I wonder if zippo would replace the sheath for you at least.
I have it too, and dont like it. My sheath part shattered so now I like it even less. I have never really even used it, just keep it in my truck.

shame because the axe head is nice...
I have seen this saw working, for cutting small limbs(4-5 inches), its dynamo. The hatchet...hatchet is for splitting those small limbs into firewood kindling. And why wouldn’t you take the plastic cover off when using the hammer end? If you really think that’s dangerous, you shouldn’t be outside...and remember it’s for tent stakes! Sounds to me like you bought it, abused it, broke it, and are just mad that Zippo wouldn’t give you another one. Which by the way, I think they should, just on principle. Sorry for my lousy 2 cents worth, but I have tools that go a long way back, because I don’t wreck them on purpose. Just saying...
Lol longest grudge ever? Great video!

@@cutlerylover brother have you thought about making the hatchet better like a better handle and blade mask of leather and just ditch the plastic and saw feature? That's what ide do is make it smaller and ditch all the plastic. I do also understand that defeats the purpose but after 8 years ide try to make it usable instead of a total loss for 70$ plus
Just use their lighters!👍
For zombie apocalypse use only
I also don't like the fact that you have to purchase proprietary replacement blades from Zippo. I'd much rather have something like the Agawa Canyon Boreal21 that accepts standard 21" bow saw blades that can easily be found at hardware stores for half the price. Thanks for eliminating this tool from my considerations!
Spydercos hatchet sucks too! IMO
Zippo should stick to what they are good at MAKING LIGHTERS THAT LAST FOREVER!!!!
Zippo and Case have really just suffered the last 5-10 years with things. Quality and design are not there.
Not exactly a sawvivor....
Has a very wierd shape overall as well...goofy
