I was considering upgrading my Smooth 5 until i checked the sepecs and the 5s still has "only" 300g payload. To bad, but I wont upgrade just for the light and the wider clamps. I was hoping for at least 600g payload....

Hi Zdenka 👋-I've been watching your KZread Channel grow and grow for a few years, and I'm happy to see it succeed at such a level. You work hard for it, so all of your success is well deserved; not as a celebrity (though you are to many of us!) But for smart, well-considered evaluation of the gear, we seek to unleash creative works. 😉 Now the question. I saw you use the magnetic fill-light, isolated from the built-in, and thought "how the heck did she DO THAT?" since they are triggered and adjusted from a single control (I THINK!) I consider myself smart, tech-savvy, and capable. That's why, after 10 seconds of failing to work it out, I knew that the fastest path to knowledge was right here, vs. a half hour of fiddling and failing. Unless there is control within the application, I admit this one stumped me. I hate being stumped. Hopefully, you will spot this comment soon, you are very engaged with your subscribers. It's why I come back, again and again! Standing by...

Thank you very much for your comment. Yes, it was actually shown in the manual. You are not going to believe this, but before I make any review, I actually read the manual inside out. I will be creating in-depth tutorial on this gimbal very soon.. I think it was press and hold the light button…. Now I cannot remember out of my head but I think that’s what I was.

big question for big setups (what is not in the answered in the reference guide) iPhone Pro Max with moment case, moment wide lens, filter adapter and vari nd filter? worst case with counterweights also when it can handle it without any hasle it could be the first real pro smartphone gimbal if not we need to wait longer 😕

Thank you. Your review has helped me to understand that all these phone gimbals are full of drawbacks. Using any Zhiyun app or Filmic Pro with Android Phone (most of the world uses the most advanced Android phones) - - I can't use slow motion - I can't use a wide angle lens (zoom 0,6 or around) - I can't record 50 or 60FPS 4K and 1K These options are the most important for me, making a smartphone video. In order to use these option I would have to use a native camera app, set everything on the phone screen.....a then I could NOT use almost all buttons on the gimbal (because they work only with Zhiyun apps or Filmic Pro). Ridiculous.

What about a Mic support, all of these gimbals focus on weight but they dont do anything for audio, we need to be able to connect an audio jack to the gimbal - Thennnn its going to be the best gimbal

Es falso. Ese Gimbal no es compatible con los teléfonos Samsung. Específicamente S23 ULTRA. Las aplicaciones antes mencionadas no se acoplan con el celular y el Bluetooth no se acopla de ninguna manera. Lo compre Zhiyun 5S.. y perdí el dinero. Artículos como este están recorriendo las redes causando decepción. La empresa debería crear un software que permita enlalar a los celulares de gama alta que salieron al mercado este año 2023.

There is a hole/thread on the side of the gimbal. I screwed my mic to that via the cold shoe (or whatever you call it) then my Rode mic is connected to my phone via usb-c

Zbenka - Love your video Zdenka, I just wanted to share that I stopped making videos due to the fact that I lost almost everything due to theft and my entire studio and starting over is going to be tough since I’m unemployed at the. I’d love to get my hands on that beautiful Smooth 5 Combo. That would be the start to my vanished studio equipment. I’d do anything to be able to to buy one and in my needs, it is perfect for a new beginning. Not only are you a wonderful person but Beautiful as well.Thank you for sharing and God bless.

I am very sorry to hear that. Which country are you from? It has happened another 2 creators in 2023… you should make a video about that and create a donation page to at least be able to get the basic gear… I assume you didn’t have an insurance…. Hopefully things will be better for you from now on

Hello, I like your program very much. AOCHUAN SMART S2 has been released in China. The price parameters are basically the same as the SMOOTH 5S. The difference is: the pan axis can be rotated infinitely, it comes with an extension rod, the battery is 6400 mAh, and the built-in microphone is this parameter. It should be the highest in the current mobile phone stabilizer.

Is this better than the DJI OM 6, I got the DJI for my holiday, it served me well. But was not happy I could not spin shot fully, I do love how quick it is to start up and how compact it is. But this is bigger, but spin shots properly. I presume the start up is slower. Is the lights a big plus? Which is better ?

It is my understanding that the DJI 6 only handles 290grams, the iphone 13 pro with a moment lens is 316grams.

Really nice review Zdenka. Looks like a really strong product. I like that it integrates with Filmic Pro. I had a Zhiyun Smooth a while back, my main challenge was attaching a wireless mic receiver and keeping it balanced. I added counter weights, but it was a bit large at that point, not something I could take apart and put in my bag. That’s why I like the new DJI gimbal so much.

I just got my Zhiyun Smooth 5 a month ago. I tried attaching my DJI wireless mic monitor/adaptor + moment lens and was able to balance it. After watching this video, I'm still thinking if I will upgrade to 5s since the only difference is the built-in light.

Hello, I need a Gimble that gives me great control over zooming in out while manually panning left or right. Is the manual zoom wheel functional when recording in tracking mode? Can you control the sensitivity/speed of the manual zoom wheel? I get great manual speed control with the iphones on-screen zoom wheel providing my finger slides smoothly. However the iphone13 changes lenses at the 1x spot which gives annoying glitches to my videos if I don’t carefully stay above 1x always when zooming in and out. Does this Gimble allow me to say lock out this 1x and below of my zoom range to prevent this lens transition switching glitch point from occurring? Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

If you use StaCam app with this gimbal you will get smooth zoom in and out… however if you want tracking as well look at the newly released 5S AI model… that one has tracking sensor

Remarkable, feature rich gimble. Coming from 35 years still photography, you’ve got me interested creating video and can see this added to my camera bag. I have changed platforms from Lumix G9 to iPhone 13 Pro Max and finding incredible opportunities to expand and reinvent my passions. Never having tried using anything more than handheld still shots and reluctant to use a tripod, I can appreciate what this amazing hardware is capable. I’d enjoy exploring the potential in this way. Only one question, membership to enable the gimbles functionality? What if I don’t pony up for a membership or if I did and canceled? Would I then lose those paid functions? Pretty much done with subscriptions for something I paid for in hardware and be limited in software functions. Please clarify. Absolutely love your channel. Being new subscriber, I’ve got some catching up to do. Thank you for your contribution to quality content providing excellent reviews and tutorials.

Good questions. I assumed that the membership was for the advanced features in their 'brand app' as you'd find in Filmic Pro. But if the membership affects what gimble features are available, that's a hard no for me.

To be honest, the membership is only for a little extra things I’m finding that I don’t even need to explore that area in ZY Cami app. StaCam has some features which better with membership but again you can use it without it as well. Yes I feel the same. I am not a fan of memberships. I really don’t know what happens when you cancel the membership so I will be the best to ask Zhiyun directly

May i ask in what meaning of compatibility? The physical, like weight, width, heights, thick or software compatibility. Or both. It is everything. Mainly about the features you are going to get in the app. mini gimbals offer less features when it comes to android phones.

I would wait for two more week…. Just be patient as there is a new gimbal coming out on the market. I’ll be introducing it on my channel very soon.

Received my Smooth 5 last week, haven't even opened the box to look at it yet. Think I'll return it and get the S considering it's the same price I paid for the 5. Also, the compatibility list does not have Google Pixel 7 Pro or regular.

I'm a huge fan. Thanks for all of your wonderful content. Do you know if the zhiyun smooth 5s will work with the fold 4 (folded)? My phone with the case was too heavy for the dji osmo 4. Also, the phone is much thicker when folded. Will this be a problem with the clamp?

I never had the type of the phone you have in my hands, so I cannot really tell. what I would suggest is to buy the gimbal from a reliable source, where they have a very good return policy. If it doesn’t work, simply return it and get all your money back.

I did not know about this new product either it was sent to me a week ago, but it is pretty much the same as smooth 5 only the light is extra. I wonder why the shake is happening to you…, depending on the phone, you have the phone’s stabilization might be fighting off their app.

@@ZdenkaDarula I thought about that being the issue. I'm not certain, I'm still working on figuring it out. I think it may actually be filmic not playing nice with my phone (lg g8). I'm gonna use the native camera app tomorrow, as well as a couple other apps and compare them.

What about compatibility with Protake+? Also, I have read comments about handling either lenses or displacing it a bit to connect a wireless mic. Could it handle both mic+lense in an iPhone Pro Max? Thanks for the helpful video!

By the way, I also just bought the Polar Pro Lite Chaser full kit. Do you know how to change or charge the batter in the Bluetooth shutter button? Looking at the design of this gimbal it seems that it's not possible to attach a usb wireless mic system like a rode or saramonic or DJI mic right?

Yes, you can attach another wireless microphone system. I have a brand new one which is going to be released in the first week of December and it works well.

Unfortunately, I don’t think it would. It’s a bit big for the clamp.

Hi, and congratz on this new video. I was waiting for this new gimbal release from Zhiyun, and i have one question. I never had a gimbal for the phone. i wonder if his stabilization works with native camera 📷 app. I have a Samsung S21 Ultra, and i wanna film it in 4k 60fps. I am aware of the fact that i will not benefit of different functions from their app, but i am asking again: Can you confirm if i can use this gimbal with native samsung camera app? At least, control of direction/rotation/stabilization. Thank you so much. You are doing great work!

Yes, you can use any gimbal with native camera app. You would use it to stabilize your footage, and you would use the gimbal modes…, the only thing you’re not going to get is zoom and focus pull

Zhiyun Smooth 5S Compatibility List- nothing changes and new phones are not added to that list. The white one looks great. Like the lock button, but they did not make the Mode view larger and most people complained about it.

I agree about the modes display. On a sunny day there is no way you can see what mode is displayed on the screen unless you cover it with hand to create a shade

Such a nice review Zdenka. Zhiyun Smooth 5S have little upgrade from its predecessor Zhiyun Smooth 5, but it got very cool feature of Extra lighting at back. Is there any way to add 4th axis to it to avoid ninza walks, although its motors are looking sturdy than DJI Osmo 6. What kind of lenses and filters we can add to Zhiyun Smooth 5S. Also please tell us the way to add DJI or Hollyland or Rode wireless mic receiver to smartphone when used with Zhiyun Smooth 5S, since when looking at Gimbal I don't think any space left for adding wireless mic receiver to smartphone.

Yes, I think that all the companies need to realize that 300 g is simply not enough. They should be making those gimbals for social media and they should also be making gambles for people who really want to load stuff.

@@ZdenkaDarula agree 100% I was hoping the updatet Smooth 5 would at least have like 600 or 800 grams. It is possible as the FyunTech 6 max proves. So If I need to go heavier i might get the 6 Max.

Hello Zdenka, i had to return this gimbal (bought after your nice review) because my OPPO FIND X3 PRO doesnt fit in when it comes to vertical balancing process. If you want to balance it correctly you have to slide the phone very down and there is no needed space so basically phone just touches the "arm" of the gimbal and it cannot be balanced and it falls backwords. Happened to you or are you aware of this problem?

As I don’t have that phone, there’s no way of knowing it. I always say please check compatibility list before you buy any gimbal. I use iPhone because it is the most compatible with all the equipment on the market

for 30 euros more, is it worth getting the 5s instead of the 5? what are their differences?

Hi Zdenka - first time at your channel and LOVE your approach to reviews - thorough, informative, logical, and well presented. I just got an Osmo 6 for use with an iPhone 13pro - a little disappointed at the range of motion, though otherwise a terrific gimbal. I wanted to get your thoughts on stabilization; is the footage from the Z5S equally smooth compared to the OM6? Thinking of returning the Om6, so if you could weigh in on footage stability I'd really appreciate it. Also, new subscriber!

Thank you very much and welcome to the channel. I think that the stabilization is very similar. I am not sure right now if it is better, but I think it’s almost the same way. I understand that you are having a little bit problems with the movement… yes that Kimball is a little bit limited, but it is also a very good product and it’s a very small and portable. There’s one gives you excellent performance, but it is a bit bulkier and heavier.

@@ZdenkaDarula thanks for the reply. Other than the light, there is no other functional difference right? It's kind of sad coz I just bought smooth 5 1 month ago and they release 5s this month

I ordered a Smooth 5 and came with a problem, it shimmered on the vertical axis. I also don't like that I have to re-calibrate the phone everytime I mount it. If they adopt something like DJI's clamp, then it would be a beast. Until then... Oh, I loved the vertical spinning function.
