I love the moment when Liu Bei gets angry at his followers for accusing Zhao Yun of betrayal and yells ''Impossible!''

According to the history Zhao yun really ran into Caocao' s army to save the baby and came out, but at the time the army was a mess because they're busy on chasing and fighting Liu Bei's army, and there's civilians all around, which make Zhao Yun easier to do his job. After all, it still a dangerous job and very heroic indeed.

​@@FireFly969 this scene come from novel version of "real history" its exaggerated but there's some truth in it, because by the time he tried to get out the armies of Cao Cao already there at the exist[from map-wise] so he should be fighting out of his way but not this level of battle, at best one or two scout platoons so 20-30 soldiers

According to the famous novel "three kingdoms", he's been fighting all night trying to find his lord LiuBei's wife and baby. He had about 40 cavalry under his command initially, but was alone by the time he found the baby. that's when this scene happened. it's said he killed 50+ officers and numerous soldiers in this battle.

Diarmid O'Connor Things like this happens in real life, for example in world war 2, a guy called Lü Jùn Shēng (same family name of Lü Bù), killed 27 Japanese soldiers in a melee fight, later killed 60+ enemies(including Japanese and puppet army which are those who's on the Japanese side), even later, when sieging Japanese bunkers, he pulled the firing machinery gun out from the enemy bunker to make a breach

He was later promoted to the rank of General of the Standard (牙門將軍) for his efforts.[21]”. No mention of ever encountering soldiers I never said he didn’t save Liu Beis family from his cowardice but there was no fighting on his end. Try reading it before sending it off as some big one up.

I hated Cao Cao until the actor made me love Cao Cao, dude played the role so great. This scene was straight out of dynasty warriors though its beyond ridiculous

In history, Zhao Yun did rescue Liu Shan and possibly his mother. Though we don't exactly know how he did it. He most likely avoided direct combat with Cao Cao's forces as best as he can. Chinese armies were filled with crossbows and horse archers/heavy cav. Make no mistake, Zhao Yun was likely the one of the best commander that era. But he probably avoided fighting rather than cutting through 50 people. Also, id'ing him would be an issue, he could easily throw away any of Liu Bei's banners, or used Cao Cao's banners. Radios didn't exist, and there was no way to coordinate or inform Cao Cao's units of Zhao Yun. So, he likely rode past most of Cao Cao's forces without being attacked.

Cao Cao caught Liu Bei's forces with just 5000 elite cavalry, so historically, Zhao Yun wouldn't have had to charge through a formation. It's still very impressive though. Almost as impressive as when he defeated an entire army with just 10 guys at Hanzhong.

Surrounded by enemies everywhere and he defeated them while carrying a baby. Zhao Yun is the man :)

According to the historical record, General Zhao stood 6'1 while the average Chinese male height was 5'5~5'7. You can imagine how physically strong Zhao was.

Zhao Yun is on fire! He accomplished something that even Lu Bu failed to accomplish.

That's a BAD dude right there! He's as much of an unstoppable force as he is in the games! Even the screams and yells from the cannon fodder reminded me of DW madness!

Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a novel by Luo Guanzhong written almost 1000 years after the events of the Three Kingdoms era. It is a collection of Master Luo's imagination, historical data and local stories about the era. If it wasn't for this novel and the depiction of it, The Three Kingdoms era won't be as famous as it is. Heck, it's even one of China's Four Classics.

Actually, that is not the case. He withdrew and then Zhang Fei left. Then he passed with the army from another bridge.

man this is what kessen 2 always was in my mind...i want a remastered version or another kessen like 2 again so badly i cant describe it.

It's new "three kingdoms" but I realize this series was ten years old. Damn!! Time is fast.

Let's put it like this, Liu Bei did things that could be seen as either "Pure Holiness" or "Calculated strategic ploy's"(Chang ban, using a very large amount of civilians to slow down Wei's army,convincing Wu to attack He Fei while they took Huangzhong)Granted he did "some thing that could be considered good" but they were always for his own good or the good of his kingdom(Advising Cao Cao on Lu Bu's chronic-backstabbing disorder, to remove a future threat)

what i knew was zhao yun jumped pass a ring of soldiers with a horse from a cliff and snatched the baby and escaped. when the archers were ready to fire, cao cao stopped them saying he wanted zhao yun alive so one day cao cao may capture zhao yun and make zhao yun serve wei. cao cao had a great army and many locations to guard. guarding a baby probably wasn't his biggest priority. so cao cao probably didn't station too many infantries. zaho yun also had his lieutenants distract the soldiers so the escape route is clear. all his lieutenants perished when zhao yun returned making it look like zhao yun did the job all by himself.

Damn Zhao yun Had to go through all of that. Just want to say Zhao Yun is a true warrior of The three kingdoms.

I do like his fighting techniques, mindset and young general.

Damn, imagine putting a composite Zhao Yun in death battle... He'd be pretty formidable

Zhao yun was my favorite characters in all of dynasty warrior game

I used to love these stories about how one man can take out a full army, esp since I read plenty of manga during my teens. That is until I reached the age of reasoning and realized that the best MMA fighter in the world can't deal with 10 seasoned fighter even when not surrounded. Zhao here would have been torn to bits even if he had 9 lives.

@teccomin In the romantized version , it was said that Zhao Yun charged inside enemy territory to bring back Liu Shan , after Liu Bei's wife suicided by throwing herself inside a well . After that , the enemies spotted Zhao Yun and he fought through wei's forces until he ran through the bridge . Here Cao Cao forces stopped because Zhang Fei was holding off to let Zhao Yun run , and here Zhang Fei famous howl scared Wei's forces off when Guan Yu boasted of Zhang Fei's skill to Cao Cao

I have no idea what any of them said.....BUT THAT WAS AWESOME!!!

Considering the fact that ancient commanders had the best armours and weapons, a nutritious diet (a luxury at that time), and received professional combat and tactical training since youth, it is possible an elite could fight against hordes of grunts. Note that it is easy to pick up a spear and poke around, but it takes years if not decades of training to master the strength and weakness of one's gear, and combine them to yield the best combat readiness. Most of the grunts either don't have enough time or resources to undergo such training, or they die at some point before standing out among the ranks. Still, I agree this scene is exaggerated.

The rider was told that his white stunt horse was good for one faceplant only, and is not often not reusable due to fatal injury.

What's amazing is that this literally happened in history. He rode through thousands upon thousands of Wu to say Liu Shan. If Guan Yu hadn't died, Shu would have been a thousand year dynasty with people like Zhao Yun.

Shu's down fall started when pang tong died and it didnt help that xu shu also left. With yhem gone zhuge kongming had to carry shu as the main strategist for millitary. The other ministers were all political ministers whilst zhuge liang was both. Jiang wei was alright aswell but he was nothing compared to sima yi

@noasdsaatana Remember when Cao cao surrrounded Lu Bu's last standing fortress? He made an attempt to break out with his daughter on his back. He failed miserably and was almost captured on that day. Zhao Yun on the other hand was able to break out while cradling Liu Bei's infant son. He truly is amazing.

Liu Bei knew that Zhao Yun would catch Liu Shan (His son), and he also purposefully dropped Liu Shan when right above Zhao Yun's fingertips. He dropped his son to show that he values his subordinates. There's an allegory saying: 刘备摔孩子：收买人心, the rough translation: Liu Bei smashing child: Buying loyalty. He expected Zhao Yun to catch Liu Shan, and wanted to show him that he loves his subordinates more than his own son.

I love talking and learning about Chinese history so I would never shout at ya. :) Plus I don't have anyone that I personally know who I can discuss with about such topics. I used to play the Dynasty Warriors games on my PlayStation 2 quite some time ago and that's what introduced me to the actual history. When I learned that some of the battles I was playing in the game actually happened I just kept reading about them from various sources to see how they actually played out, or at least get a vague idea of how they happened. I even watched the entire series of reenactments like this video here is part of. Ever since those games I just can't get enough.

Well that when he fuck up. If he leave that bridge be Caocao will stick to original plan is to retreat, he was certain that behind the bridge was an ambush. Chop down the bridge proof zhangfei doesn't want the army to advance that means behind that bridge was no ambush

This newer 3 kingdoms series does not show the fight here as well as the older series. Here he's like a superman.

We the khiamniungan Naga tribe of Nagaland state in Northeast india is a chinese offshoot. This is based upon our oral folk tales,lores , culture,Language and more.

The 2010 TV Series were awesome! Great portrayal of many of the characters and many nice action scenes (although this one with Zhao Yun is a bit too much)

Babysitter of the Millennium Award goes to this guy.

One angry man with child... Jumping in middle of spearmen and archer army with shield... Still no harm to him or the horse... Only chinese can do that 😅😅 But still it was a great fight scene.

In a real historical battle , he would have just dueled with 1 or 2 people before the battle starts. Not sure why they have this guy fighting over a thousand people at a time.

This is the point of the story where Cao Cao tried to capture Zhao Yun not kill him. Knowing Cao Cao, he would sacrifice hundreds of soldiers just to have a valuable General defect to his side.

NGUFashion in this series most of the battles were like that 1 on 1 or 1 on 2 but in this point of the story him and his people where on the run capture or kill

In history, General Zhao Yun rushed into enemy's army to save his lord's wife and son. He was surrounded one day and night. When he ran out, the whole body covered with blood. And according to the record, he killed 50 officers with names in that battle, not to mention soldiers he killed without names.

And yet the longest living as a emperor of all three kingdoms. He knows that Shu could not win a war of attrition against Wei. Shu environment is most mountains and very few fertile soil. Wei under Cao Pi, even losing all of his invasions against Wu, have developed it economy and rebuilt everything destroyed by the yellow turban rebellion and Dong Zhuo era. A poor country like Shu would never have a chance against them.

Liu Shan didn't have much talent himself, but also all the talent which supported his father have died as well. If not for the brilliancy of Zhuge Kongming and the other generals, Shu Han would never have survived, let alone rival the other 2 kingdoms for a substantial time period.

@@lihangsu249 which is why Shu Han has always been on the offensive, after the death of the Guan family Shu's Northern push was lost forever. Then the death of Zhang Fei pushed Liu Bei to insurmountable levels of rage where he led a failed attack against Wu where he lost another tiger general Huang Zhong. Had Wu not betray Shu Han, Liu Bei would've won, Cao Cao runs to the North of the yellow river to regroup and Sun Quan would've surrendered to Liu Bei. Han empire would last longer, maybe not considering Liu Shan would be the next man in charge but in this au I doubt Zhuge Liang would've died early as he overworked himself to death carrying Shu Han. Maybe in this world many of the talented people would flock to Liu Bei and help Zhuge Liang with the workload.

So dynasty Warriors weren't purposely making the main player's horse immortal in every game, cause Zhao Yun (mentally) pressed the "call horse" button and the horse got up like it was fully energized. *People you play Dynasty/Samurai Warriors will understand what I mean -W- *

Don't be too serious about the film guys. It must be exaggerate on the screen to credit the ornamental. But the story is true. Btw Zhao Yun is number 2 warrior in that period just after Lv Bu. Beyond that as a warrior he also has political foresight and strategies.
