@sam989leung Apparently the reason for the difference between the naming convention was that the other styles tended towards being taught from father to son, while Zhaobao was Master to disciple and was subsequently named after the village, since it had no specific family it belonged to.

The discussion on here is interesting. It is impossible to say for sure where taijiquan came from. But excericses and systems based on taoist theory and qigong were around before any village bearing a lineage or name was. It seems reasonable that taijiquan evolved in different places over time from these theories and practices, then being coined by damiliea dn lineages later. There is no written support to varify much else, other then what is legend.

ZhaoBao, Chen and Yang Styles of Taiji, there are a lot of stories about them. ZhaoBao is the name of a village. It is different from other styles used the family name to signify their form. But ZhaoBao village and Chen's village is quite near distant in Hunan Province of China. However, we can find more black and white record about ZhaoBao's stories.

kongfuwang, you're wrong about Zhao Bao Taijiquan being older than Chen Style. The name "Zhaobao" was a tribute to the village of a Chen master, who was under the lineage of Chen Style creator Chen Wangting. So ultimately, Chen Style still is the original.

Qi flow??? I see a guy who collects points for a performance by showing flexibility which has no connection to an interior martial art, I dare to say that although i am not chinese and teach taijiquan, True is he is good in his kind of interpretation.
