nice little display. Mantis is one of the few kung fu styles out there that has both the practicality (if you know where to look and how to apply) and also the aesthetic appeal of LOOKING like kung fu. thanks for the upload.

excellent response. All of those applications are applicable to the "7 Star" stance or heel stance. It is also a transitional stance, to advance the foot, then bring the weight forward into it, just as one walks forward, heel to toe. This stance, as you have stated, is always connected to the opponents leg, whether behind, wrapping the ankle, or even shin to shin, wrapping the ankle from the front. Thank you for sharing this video

@banjobilly I'd make a different distinction. Even martial arts have their inherent flaws - maybe the propagator didn't address particular scenario. Martial sports' effectiveness is highly dependent on how athletic the practitioner is, thus boxing and WTFTaekwondo. Whereas martial arts' main purpose is to direct the flow of the fight in your favor, and the effectiveness is measured by the ability to understand and apply techniques regardless of athleticism (though you need it for many arts)

@banjobilly i learn hung gar kung fu now, about 6 months, bacause i was bored of wing chun..and i am vey pleased because hung gar is a complete system, with a lot of different punches, kicks, stances, maybe less practical than wing chun in the begining but with more benefits after a few years of training, and more similar to mantis of course..

@anikid0392 Northern style utilizes acrobatics techniques, with leg kicks and long range fighting. Example Praying Matis. Southern style utilizes short range power techniques mostly using hands...Example Wing Chun.

@TPRS313 no martial art is better or worse. it really only depends on the student.

Dude - this rules! I find it interesting to see the relationship between Wing Chun and the other Shaolin styles b/c you can see what they kept in, and what they discarded. Nice!

@TPRS313 tae kwon do is made for sport and not for fighting . their roundhouse kicks posses more danger for you than for the opponent .
