In two weeks! Great call out. Sometimes what you learned in school can really leave a mark. I constantly say “the week after next” - what i learned in school and everyone seems to get a little confused by that phrase. Instead, it is simple and straightforward: “In two weeks!” Nicely done.
你所教授的非常好👍希望往后多多教授美国人的日常习惯用语,能够使生活在这人听得懂,不至于听后一脸呆萌
Very useful US English lesson. Presentation is well structured in comparison format, and with grammar variances, too. Thank you Jackie.
Very helpful!! Most Chinese student learnt British English in high school but American English in college. That is very confusing…
good video, thanks Jackie
Useful,thank you!
Your videos are so informative that I can't stop watching them. Thank you so much.
I drop by your site and found this video is very useful and you really have loads of experiences on reaching English! I am from Taiwan, those words you picked not often used really used a lot in Taiwan! Thank you again for your efforts!
thanks for your practical English tips ! i learned a lot !
Very good examples! I have learned clearly.
Another interesting word is "should". People often use "should" to replace "if" in formal writings. I was really confused when seeing that first time.
Just love the way you teach.thank you

I am in Australia, so our English is always different to the American English. We call grocery store Supermarket, we use G'day as a simple greeting but we also don't often use 'how do you do' , we do use the word fortnight and fortnightly.
Very useful!
omg ,this is really helpful ,no wonder i never heard anymore use shall ,thx so much ,jackie female ,i love u ,
Nice video! I have been in the States for more than 10 years and it makes me realize that I have been used to many expressions without even realizing it. I am wondering if some are actually British English instead of Chinese English. PS: actually it was a surprise to me that some Americans actually say "long time no see" whereas I thought that was a textbook Chinese English.
The next next is my daily use, all my friends are already used to it. some time, I will say "next next next next" day, any I see them use figure to count! they are so cute and friendly.
This is a very good TV show and it help us a lots!
I actually do use "how do you do", but I usually reserve it for someone I meet for the first time.
I like your video very much , I can learn a lot every time ! Thanks

"it's raining cats and dogs" is a phrase that everyone knows - although it might not be commonly used, I disagree to put a "cross" sign to confuse non English speaker as if it's wrong to use.
Yes, Jackie’s Lessons are very useful to me, though I have been immigrated to USA for more than 20 years!

@Ken L I speak Cantonese as well. Grammatically, your statement is seamless. Yet, the American way to express what you said is: … … though I have lived in the US as an immigrant for over 20 years.

The thing about the word fortnight is correct. Not so many Americans know this word. I remember, once I asked my HR if I will be paid weeklly or fortnightly, she had no idea what I was asking. I had to rephrase the question using bi-weekly.

As well as saying grocery shopping, we often say ‘do groceries’ or simply ‘groceries’. For example, I am doing groceries after work, do you need anything? Or, do you need anything at the groceries while I am there?

A friend of mine asked me to check this video out to see if I agree. Well yes on the most part. But in NY we do say supermarket just as often as grocery store. And we say raining cats and dogs sometimes depending on if you wanna be dramatic. And we use SHALL for the same reason all the time (maybe because I'm always around a bunch of middle aged ill humored soldiers). As it for motorcycle... you are right, we rarely say it, but definitely more often than "refrigerator" (as opposed to fridge). Maybe that's the one you were looking for lol

haha. Thanks for the awesome feedback. Appreciate that! Fridge is a good one!

@@JackiesEnglish TV commercial still use the word "refrigerator". Fridge is too casual, but people do use the word. Motorcycle is still a common word. Bike is a lot easier to say than motorcycle, which is a mouthful.
