ZERO DRAG EFOILING? | Foil Drive x Project Cedrus Review

Today I am testing the new Foil Drive x Project Cedrus Integrated Mast Option. Foil Drive has teamed up with Project Cedrus to provide a new Mast integration option for the Assist PLUS. The main advantages are having
a complete smooth, sleek and drag free cable routing to the motor with
all wiring internal inside the mast, top plate and new custom premium
pod. The Cedrus Alluminum Mast options will be in 70, 80 and 90cm
increments with the motor height being customisable by the customer.
#Foildrive will be offering some of the more popular Cedrus Foil Adaptors on
our website , but the whole range can be ordered directly from Project
Cedrus. projectcedrus.com foildrive.com
Foildrive have also
filmed an in depth discussion about the considerations of the Assist
PLUS Integrated Cedrus Mast for our Tech Talk Series.
• Foil Drive Tech Talk |...
With many riders now relying on their Foil Drive to enjoy their session, and others refusing to hit the water without it, there is a growing number of riders who never move their motor position or take it off! Enter the Project Cedrus Integrated Mast.
Working closely alongside Kyle from Project Cedrus (projectcedrus.com/), we are excited to announce our collaborative efforts of the Foil Drive Assist PLUS x Project Cedrus Integrated Mast. A custom Project Cedrus Top Plate and Custom Foil Drive Motor Pod/Puck allows the motor cable to be run internally through the mast directly to the motor. This makes for a super clean install with no tape, reducing drag and increasing efficiency resulting in a smoother ride! ‪@foildrive‬
A few things to consider:
- This is simply an Assist PLUS kit built into a Project Cedrus Mast.
- The motor/cable is not removable from the mast.
- The motor height is fixed to the one height specified at time of ordering.
- This does not replace the existing Assist PLUS, they both have their pro’s and cons, this is simply an additional option.
For more information on the Foil Drive X Project Cedrus collaboration check these two videos. The first is our release video that will be promoted in the coming weeks, the second is an in-depth Tech Talk with Paul and Ben discussing the design considerations and setup.

ABOUT THE PRE-RELEASE & HOW TO ORDER
Initial pre-release stock is very limited, and we are reserving for direct, complete system sales, exclusively offered to our Facebook Owners Group Community. For the sake of resourcing and quality control, the first batch is for brand new motor install only.
For full system, Assist PLUS x Cedrus Integrated Mast ordering, use this link to place an order product via our website.

Existing Customers wishing to upgrade, please email support@foildrive.com with one of the below options in mind:
We will be offering existing Assist PLUS owners the option to send back their kit to our workshop in Australia for fitting their motor into a Cedrus Mast. This process is very time consuming for our crew, especially as we will be working with used parts. Given this, the option to integrate your existing kit will only be offered in batch two orders, expected in the coming months.
If you own an Assist PLUS and simply cannot wait, we will offer a Cedrus Mast with brand NEW Motor, Controller and Electronics Box as a “bare kit”, no battery/charger. Please email support@foildrive.com
Project Cedrus Integrations are direct through Foil Drive only, ordering via your local stockist will become available with batch two orders.

Great set of Foil Drive reviews Mike! I see that Dominic is really starting to like the Project Cedrus Foil Drive + at the “e-foil” position for wave riding/downwinding more and more. Have you tried the e-foil position of the Project Cedrus option yet? Where I live it’s rare to have such glassy swell as you show in your videos. I’m thinking the e-foil Project Cedrus position will actually work better for more messy (wind blown) swell conditions. Also, are you still using the Skydio 2+ these days for filming?

Thank you!! I have been efoling "my whole life" so the goal with Foildrive is to get away from high drag efoils into zero drag foiling, so no point for me putting motor down. I live in Portugal where waves are way too strong and much bigger than in Dominic's Oman, that's the main difference, so most of the time I have enough wave power to keep going and don;t need to put it lower. But of course it will work why not. Dominic shows it can be done easily. Glassy conditions like on video we get maybe once in 2 months, so I film such day. But I ride mostly in chop as well, no problem! Skydio sank long ago. I am using again old Staaker to film!

@@JetSurfingNation Thanks! I still think I’ll go for the efoil position, but I appreciate all the benefits of the assist position. For me it’s coming from wing foiling and kitefoiling before that. The full simplicity of the efoil position attracts me the most. Can’t believe you’re still using your Staaker! I have my original Staaker and it’s still working perfectly, though it’s been collecting dust on the shelf recently other than maintenance flights to cycle the batteries

Alright go for efoil position, the drag is really minimal. I dont see any problem at all. Staaker is a good trusted friend. Actually i lost 3 of them now i have 4th but i still love how smooth the tracking is! I got the new DJO Action camera that fits inside so the video quality becomes amazing. Only problem with staaker it had no sensors, so it was flyign blinds and hit the rocks. I am sad they went bankrupt. It was the best self follow drone!
