imho. All housing plots should be FC only. The housing system was fine and no one complained about it until they added the ability for individuals to purchase lots and lower the price of all plots.

SUCH DEVASTATION

A lot of the "only 1 participate" would have been on OCE. In the ward I bidded on not even half the houses even had a bid on them because they just don't have the player numbers that other big worlds like on EU and NA have. That combined with the fact that every house was new meant that OCE had ALOT more houses suddenly up for auction than the other DC, and the possible player base wanting/affording a house was less too. On Zurvan there are more house plots for FC on the server than there are actual FC's.

Light/Shiva here, members from my FC were the only ones to bid on the plot we wanted and all five of our bets lost against 0. Shout chat showed we were not the only ones.

Even on Gilgamesh there were empty plots or solo bids because 75% of the wards are for FCs and not enough FCs wanted to move to Ishgard.

@Spacellary they said before when they announced the housing change they would look at distribution later and reallocate if necessary. They also said wards would be half FC only originally, then told us in the patch notes about the 75% split.

Yeah, OCE servers are crazy with this. And even aside from the raw population, apparently some people rushed straight through the main campaigns and didn't get high enough in their grand company to even be eligable for housing, which brings the numbers down even further.

They're extending the result announcement window. Knowing this, it sounds like they're going to null out the 0 entries and redetermine the original entries without opening the lotto again. As for the gil that was withdrawn as a refund? I'm not certain. They could either wave the fee to the participants who end up winning even after refunding, or they could take the gil out of your wallet when you attempt to go claim the house. Either would work fine honestly.

I'd like to know how this is going to work, the private plot I bid on bugged out but we did manage to secure our FC plot so I withdrew my gil from the private plot to use to help furnish the FC house.

@@barrysayers7722 this is why I don't expect them to correct or rollback the errored lotteries. They'll be written off, we'll get an apology, but we'll just have to try our luck in the next round. Nobody won those plots, but nothing was lost, we're just back where we started.

I think it'll be like this. They'll re-roll those participants that were in bugged 0 draw lots. If people claimed their gil, they can just ask for the gil again. If the person no longer has the gil, then the property goes unclaimed. It shouldn't actually be that difficult to debug. The system already logs everyone who participates and loses etc. to give returns of gil. It will be annoying to fix, but quite doable. There's no reason to roll back plots that people already won on. They beat the 0 draw, but it's not as if by doing so they subtracted value from those who did not.

@@mattp994 there's less plots because a significant portion didn't bug out and actually got sold, so it would be actually harder for everyone who got the lottery bug because now you are competing with the people who lost the previous lottery round due to no bugs.

@@Gabestoic I realise that, but chances aside, you can't know if you would have won the first time, or if you won't win the 2nd time, it's a lottery, it's random. People who lost their lotteries, whether to 0 or a winning player, are all in the same boat, they didn't get a house, but will be able to roll again on the plots that weren't won next time. I get 'feeling' cheated, but that's not objective. Unless you were one of the single bidders that is, but that was mainly FCs, so chances are they'll still be single bidders in the next round.

i just hope they get more houses available as fast as possible, so more people get a chance to get one. the lottery system is just a band-aid fix and only that, sure its beter than bots and stuff getting all the houses but its very far from perfect. also a way to stop people hoarding houses would be great, its just very irritating not being able to get a house and seeing someone who owns like 12.

@@Caursten this is just not true. There are tens of thousands of more players than there are plots available. Similar how to they were struggling to add data centers outside of the Australian server which was already in the works, they require more server space to make more plots. Overtime they probably will create more, but I highly doubt anytime soon.

Keeping the houses exclusive and hard to get does more to retain subscribers than anything else in this game. YoshiP may be genuine in wanting to address the problem, but people are delusional if they think the higher ups are going to allow it.

You can't hoard houses anymore. You're allowed one private and one FC house, per World per service account.

@@joshp011 For FC housing in particular, this isn’t true. FC leadership can still change, resulting in one account being able to hold eight FC houses.

My guess is that this is not as simple a bug or oversight/lack of testing as many seem to think. More likely (to me) is that the emergency patch for the lottery that came a few days ago somehow corrupted a lot but not all of the previously made entries and the "0" and "no participants" is a result of that data corruption. The "0" is likely a default number when no winning number could be produced due to the corruption and not an actual result of a roll. They really should be able to fix this by doing a re-roll for the affected plots. They undoubtedly have data logs of all participants but it might have to be manually sorted out so it could take a while but I don't see they have much choice. Also whether people have gotten the refund or not should not matter.

It's surprising how temperamental code can be. It's much like a hydra in that regard, fix one thing but, in return, break nine others. There's just too many questions, that I am positive the dev team are also asking, to get to the bottom of this issue.

The problem is probably not doing a reroll, but rather that they don't have a system in place where you can win a plot but be required to put in gil in order to claim it. Because of that, I wouldn't be surprised if they just go ahead with the next lottery cycle and pretend no one won the plot in the first cycle.

Allegedly, WHM's Aero II, which ws to be hotfixed, doesn't show it had its potency changed unless it's inside a dungeon of its level range, so there's a legit chance the hotfix patch itself may have been compromised.

Well if this is the case, that means a lot of people that placed bids this round and thought they were playing the lotto game weren't playing at all. The fairest course of action would be to flag these accounts as "Shit's fucked, yo", and maybe on the next round of housing ward increases (Because Yoshi said there was more infrastructure for more wards presumably everywhere) maybe they can sequester off a few of them for the initial round and limit the bidders to people who did, in fact, get fucked before opening it up like normal.

If there was corruption for the entries then there's a possibility all of the lotteries were broken, even the ones that came out with a winner. It's gonna take a lot of sorting.

My FC got the winning number was zero on an uncontested medium spot... but as someone who spent hours and hours of my life clicking for a house in the old sysytem(Successfully for a small house mind you!), this is still better. Is it frustrating? Yes. Do I fear I may lose my FC's best chance at a medium relocation? Yes. But at least once I can continue to play the game while they sort it out or once I put in a bid. I don't have to sacrifice hours and days at a chance... only 5 minutes every few days at most. So I hope they fix it but I still think lottery is worth it

@@Rafael64_ I don't know man, earlier it seemed like if you put in the effort, you're definitely eventually got a house. Now you can get unlucky with draws for the rest of your life, no matter how much effort you would put in it, and never get a plot, cause that's how RNG works. There's no bad luck protection on this shit, you will always roll against ~30 people for the ~3% chance in this case for that plot. And from now on it's only 1 roll per 9 days. And now that the Empyrium plots are gone, you're going to be rolling against even more people.

@@TSLlolBetween you and me, everyone I know with a personal house bought them from someone for a MASSIVE sum of gil or RMT'd to get one. Only FCs generally won the clicky game by posting tons of people around the clock at a placard. Both systems are terrible.

This is just a bug that will eventually be fixed, very unfortunate but temporary. Compared to non-stop clicking with bots this is only an improvement. Honestly the issue that needs to be addressed now is players with multiple houses.

The player owning multiple houses is because they owbed this back when the housing system was still new. Everyone could have multiple houses. Until a scandal happened and 2 players bought up to 2 wards all to thmesleves. The players of that server were mad and demanded justice, unofrtunately what they got was a hasty ammendment and not a fix. Players were now only allowed to own 1-2 houses while the players who owned multiple before the change were allowed to keep the house so long as they didn't lose it to demolition.

the problem is not 4-5% of the plots being multi plot owners but the overwhelming demand of 70% private ownership and lack of overall supply to meet the demand. Need 8 more servers for na to match JP server pop density

I'm on Sophia on the OCE database and nearly all the plots had one participant if not none at all, especially the medium and large ones. There are a lot of new players that just don't have the gil for the larger ones yet 😊

The real problem is that you now have 18x60x5=5400 FC houses per server, and 6x60x5= 1800 personal houses per server. And remember you need at least 4 active players in a FC for it to be able to buy, so that's gobbling up an absolute bare minimum of 21,600 active players per server to fill up... Not sure who ran the maths on this, but.... you know... that's kinda the entire FF14 player base, until you realize most FCs have more than 4 peeps in them...

I don't think you math accounts for alts. There are plenty of FC's that have mutiple characters that belong to the same player, and I know players that are in several FC's on the same server using alts.

There's a line in the FC release notes saying how they will adjust the wards open to personal housing in future lotteries based on each sever. So I think the plan was to let FCs take 1st crack at getting a house, since it wouldn't take up too much of it, then open up wards to personal based on what's needed.

I lost to #0 for my FC house. I'm a bit disappointed, since I wanted to build something up and recruit people since most of the members are people that no longer play, and I was even going to let go of my personal house so someone could have it... But at the end of the day, it's not the end of the world, and I feel bad for the dev team 'cause they sure as shit didn't want this to happen. The poor person/people that coded the lottery system are going to have a really, really shitty Monday.

Yo, the PF listings today were hilarious. I feel for you guys who are into housing but I just couldn't stop laughing at some of them: "Number 0 is now the public enemy" "i can't afford a house, can i live in y'alls basements? i'll smack a broom on the floorboards above me to spook you at night" "CAN'T EVEN HAVE A HOUSE IN A VIDEO GAME GOD DAMN CAPITALIST PIGS." "War against SE is the only option. Dismantle the capitalist system by force. TAKE YOUR HOUSE BY FORCEE!!" And this one so far is my favorite: "yall talking about your house but have you seen my Adventurer Plate?"

Upsetting, but for a team of developers who rarely make such catastrophic mistakes something like this was bound to happen at some point. Will probably be fixed with all due haste.

The reason why there are so many solo bids on houses is because only FCs can buy houses in Wards 1-18. More people want personal houses than want FC houses. On my server, almost all of the houses in Empy weren't even bid on with a single person. Mediums and Larges. SE set too many wards as FC only.

Agreed. I've been a loyal player since ARR launched and I was heartbroken to see so few personal homes. I bid on the crappiest little small plot just to get the best odds and lost due to the sheer numbers. Why not a wait system where we put in a ticket and when a home comes up we get one? That rewards long time players who keep subbed. Why RNG? My FC had a beautiful home in Kugane and honestly didn't needa new one. I am really bitter right now. Endgame is FFXIV is housing and the only people I know with a home RMT'd to get them.

Absolutely. There are more single players wanting for a house than there are FCs. I checked the wards 1-18 and most houses had less than 7 bids. In the Player wards (19-24) most houses had at least 17 bids. Clearly we don't need more FC houses.

Whatever poor Dev programmed in the zero is going to have to go into witness protection. 😆

I love this housing system. It’s the only way I’ve gotten a house besides playing a massive amount of times for years but never being able to.

This happened to my FC. Rolled a zero and we lost out on our chances of getting our house. Really hope we can get a house but it’s just so discouraging. I feel I should make an edit and say that I am not badmouthing anyone nor do I condone hate against the dev team.

We should just PvP duel for the plot lol. The empty plot turns into a PvP zone and players that drop their gil will get a chance to participate like a bojza style CE match and people can cheer outside the fence

It makes sense that a ton more FC plots were going to participant zero. There were fewer participants in general on those FC plots because so many of the wards excluded private individuals. The chances of P0 winning with only one player participating is 50%. A good chunk of the private estates had 8-13 participants, and so P0 had a much lower chance of winning.

Yes, my FC got lucky with it.. we're small so only had 3 entries, but good thing we went all in like that. Dropped the percentage chance to 25% of 0 getting it.

I bid on two plots (one fc and one personal for an alt on a different dc) and I didn't win either of them.......so the best thing I did was just take a day off from FFXIV and do something chill. I think that's what everyone needs to do rather than threaten violence. it solves nothing nor makes the situation any better.

what an incredible sigh of relief that this is one of the biggest problems with the game. what a 180 from what I'm used to.

I'm on an oceanic server and the entire housing system opened with the lottery. The combination of low population numbers and all houses being available to bid on at the same time in every ward meant there were a lot of houses that went in with only 1 bid on them. There might have even been some plots with genuinely 0 bids on them

I didn't bother putting in the effort for a medium house because I figured they'd all go instantly. Boy how wrong was I. Lmao. They absolutely cannot do a rollback. I’ve seen most plots already built on and decorated. Could you imagine if they devs rolled back the servers lol!!!

On the subject of "how were there so many houses with only 1 bidder?" myself and every other person I've seen run into the bug says its from FC housing. It seems as though SE significantly overestimated the amount of FCs in need of housing and grossly underestimated the number of individual players who wanted housing. Every personal housing ward in ALL of Adamantoise' Ishgard had at minimum 4 people bidding on it. There's a ton of FC housing, and not remotely enough player housing. Across all the districts, with 6 wards each and 60 houses in each, thats 1800 houses per world. I'm 100% confident there are more than 1800 players who want and can afford a house. I understand that scarcity in housing is a little intentional, but making housing wholly inaccessible to 99% of players is just idiotic.

Well, my guess is that they want to give prioroty for the FC to have a house instead of private ones. So they make way more wards for FCs, so all of those who want them can buy those, and after some time would pass they would remove this restriction and allow private buyers to take houses in wards 1-18. At least thats the only reasonable reason i can see in this way of doing things.

I'm on Zodiark and every ward in Empyreum had at least a couple of player (not FC) plots with 1-3 bidders, a couple with 0 bidders (like how I got my house), while the rest of the plots had 6-10 bidders, and it was always the same plots. People rather go for a popular plot rather than a free plot for some reason.

Guess what, if fc gets a house, more than 1 person gets a house. Yesterday I went to a small tour on phoenix housing area and solo houses had on average 1 or 2 more people bidding, also saw houses with only 1 bidder there. So that makes me think that most players just cannot afford to even buy a small house and then they complain years later that they cannot buy a house.

I mostly did the lottery thing to see how it would turn out. I honestly wasn’t expecting myself to win the house at the moment. Even so the plot I chose had the zero bug in it. T_T

they should have all the info in records at least for single bids award the plot and take gil if needed. for other null results with multiple bids just re draw the winner and award retrieving gill as needed

When I saw "The winner is #0" I legit thought that was normal at the time, so I retrieved my gil. Then I looked at twitter and saw that it in fact wasn't how it was meant to be.....

If you took your gil back but you're the person that won the plot, they will still be taking your gil. They don't know how its going to be done right now, but they're still taking your gil somehow.

@@luciferr09 I hope they do something to make up for it. Fixing it is a good step, but, they failed an RNG install. And I am not talking about beating or people losing their jobs, but something for the player base involved.

First ticket allotment should be zero, in programming it does infact make sense. People may see the number 1 on their ticket (i.e display_id = ticket_id + 1), but the actual array index would be zero. No bidders should indicate no lottery on a given plot. This shouldn't be a complicated problem. For context, i am a professional software developer.

@@Tucarius From one programmer to another, the end user seeing a zero sounds a lot more like either that zero was a null at some point, or it's some kind of fallback value, than an entire team both fucking up and then missing in testing something as banal as correct indexing.

Plot twist: #0 is actually Zenos, and next patch will be a turf war to regain control of the lands from him via trial by combat.

Housing is just one of those things that seems doomed in FFXIV. They put in all of these systems to prevent people from gaming the system and are thwarted by something super simple.

First off, I harbour no ill will toward the developing team. Things happen, and honestly FFXIV is a _game_ and nobody died. I'd rather focus on being blessed that it's such a great game with an awesome community. That said... Having experienced the lottery through my FC, I can say it's still really dissatisfying. We had bid on a medium for the FC. There were no other bidders until two others apparently bid at the last minute. Went to bed thinking it was a done deal; woke up and no house. We didn't win it, which is fine. But realising it was another 4-day wait before the next lottery, and after not having an FC house for YEARS, despite countless attempts to get even a cardboard box in any housing zone, it was defeating to realise that the odds still might not be much better that we'll get a house anytime soon. I'm kinda over it, now. I am ready to cross the idea of getting a house off my list forever and just focus on other things. It's not sour grapes, it's just too many knock-backs and I'm exhausted from getting my hopes up.

@@Poldovico 'Sour grapes' is declaring you had never wanted the thing you can't get in the first place, that it's no good. I think housing would be great, and I do still want it, but my fortitude for the process has run dry.

The lottery system actually seems to make specific plots really popular for bids, while other plots get looked over. Any housing in sub-divisions, far away from marketboards... and even in wards the larger numbered wards, had few participation. Then, you go to a plot that has a great view, right next to the marketboard, ward #1, etc.... and you would easily have 30+ participants. Two blocks down, hidden in some back corner, another house only had 1 participant.

I'm actually super happy about this bug. I saved up enough gil for a medium and accidently put in a bid in the FC section and was the only bidder. I was devastated because my friend told me that I would get 50% back if I didn't take the house. I woke up that saturday morning dreading having to log on and get none of my money back, luckily, 0 won the lottery, and I got my 20 mil back. Thanks Mr. Fantasy! The final fantasy team grossly overestimated how many FCs were going to buy houses. The reason why there are so little participants for mediums and smalls is because every FC wants a large. Wards 1-18 are FC ONLY. No private buyers in both the main and sub divisions. I believe that most people who want a house in FF14 are private buyers. On Adamantoise there were tons of participants for private housing

Yeah private housing on jenova had a lot of bids as well. Glad things worked out for you and you got your Gil back!

"Participant 0" is there to allow for the situation where no one bids. As a person who committed to Materia, the "everything is lottery" thing, that many of us argued against, is just so much more of a disaster now. I have to say the irony of this is more amusing to me. Oh and I lost with both my toons (on different worlds) to "Participant 0".

12:45 - Yeah that doesn't help. I had this happen to me. I tried for a Small house as I knew the Med/Large would be snatched. Only one who tried, lost to #0. I pulled my money then found out it was a bug that hit everyone. Especially the new Data Center.

Yeah sadly if you're the only one to bid, its a 50/50 chance you'd get it. I think that's why there were so many that got the bug, lot's of single bidders. Hope they're able to fix it for you.

Frankly, the FC/Personal housing split should have been the other way around on OCE servers, 1/3 to FCs, 2/3 to personal, and even that is super generous to the FCs. On Bismarck, there's like 20 FCs total. There are so many wards reserved for FCs that just about every FC could have an entire ward to themselves in every single housing district.

The way it works is anyone who bid before maintinence lost automatically, and anyone who bid last minute, were the only participants counted. So if 5 people from one FC bid day one, it stayed like that never getting bid on, but if only one person from another FC, or heck, even their own fc, bid on that plot last minute, then they were the only counted participants to roll from.

I disagree. On the plot I bid for, there were seven bids before maintenance, I became bid 8 after maintenance and number 2 won!

@@wordswondrouswords6120 There are many different things going on, at least 3 separate bugs happening at the same time, which makes me think there was never not going to be a huge fuck up, and I wonder how many other things barely didnt go wrong. But there is a large number of people now that this is true for, it may only be an FC thing as well

I'm far more interested in Island Sanctuary than housing. Housing should have been one instanced plot since it was first implemented in 2.x and has been a nightmare since. The wards are dead as it is, so I really don't see the argument for the current implementation of housing.

I agree with this completely. While the neighborhood system is very beautiful and immersive people do not hang out and spend time together in their wards. I feel that they should implement instanced housing and leave neighborhoods for FCs. The only other MMORPG ive experienced housing in is SWTOR and everything is instanced and the sheer sizes of the places you can get are astounding. I think instanced housing would not only allow them to increase the furniture placement limit but also allow us to live in interesting places without having to bend over backwards and create an entire neighborhood. (i.e. Eulmore, Raz-at-Han, etc.)

@@wordswondrouswords6120 they're scheduled for 6.2 last I heard, and yes everyone can get one, but I would temper expectations. I don't expect Island Sanctuary will be as in depth as people are probably hoping, at least not in the way that housing is. I really, really hope I'm wrong.

Yeah pretty sure it has a lot of spaghetti codes related to housing. Otherwise it shouldn't be hard to just add more wards when demand was high. Also the way that it encouraged players to use bot in order to get a house was telling us that this whole feature was pretty rushed and wasn't well planned in the first place.

@@joshp011 I'm still not happy that they haven't really told us.... anything, really. It's an instanced area, sure, but all we know is there's some kind of.... farming? gardening? And minions are involved? But we've been given no examples of gameplay or anything. I'm not getting my hopes up. This might let me garden, but I want to decorate more than just a single room.

Man, I was extremely anxious about the day the lottery results got announced despite the fact I was the only participant on my plot for a long ass time, and I thought I was being overdramatic about being anxious about it. Then this happened and gave me a reason to be anxious. I'm just happy I'm one of the lucky ones who actually got my house otherwise I would've had a breakdown at work. I'm so sorry to all of those who got bugged out.

I did a walk through Ishgard housing district an hour ago. The empty plots placard show the amount of people who bid in the lottery and you can click the option to see results. Some show message “the winning number was like 2 or 5”. But some show a message that “nobody took part in lottery” and yet 6 people show as taking part in the lottery, it’s crazy!!! You can already see which plots were won by number 0 😳

I've given up on purchasing a plot. The only thing I feel that can save housing is if they add it as instanced to island sanctuary.

Yes I was very surprised that 18 of 24 wards were FC only. And it seems like that has been applied to the old wards too. 😱 Unless they plan to alter that in lottery cycle no.2

To be fair, the 18-6 ratio might have been better for the old servers, at least more players will get to experience having a house in a way through their FC house. There was no reason to include the OCE servers in that though.

on the new Australian servers, it's not as populated. so there was a lot of gentleman's agreements about not bidding on a plot that someone else was on. so for us, we had a lot of people with just 1 bid and half of those people lost out to #0. sad, but it'll get sorted.

Yoshi-P should play Star Wars The Old Republic for literally 5 minutes just to check the amazing housing system. The Swtor housing is SO SIMPLE that it works perfectly, literally zero problems, no one complains.

FFXIV servers: "ugh unf I can't handle all these plots" Warframe: personal orbiter, drifter camp, soon an apartment, and an unlimited number of clan dojos that are larger than an entire ward.

This also sounds like a range bug for me. In coding when using numerical range you often go from 0 to n-1 iirc (so instead from 1 to 10 you go from 0 to 9). So not only was zero a valid winning number but also people who were the only bidders (Winning number 1) were unable to win because it would always draw zero in those cases. I'm just guessing though.

If that was the case you wouldn't have cases with 7 bids and the winning number being 7. A collection ranges from 0 to n-1, sure, but if n was chosen then it would fail due to an out of bounds reference. Houses with 1 bid on them would never succeed, and many people won plots being the only bidder,. The issue seems to have been the hotfix. Houses with bids after the hotfix were fine. Bids before the hotfix were scuffed.

No I still won the house with 1 participant, told me winner number 1 n got it but my friend had it 0. The only difference there was I applied lottery a day before the result, she made hers before the maintenance

I'm guessing it was 0 to n. So a house with 1 bidder would have a 50/50 chance of winning it. The 50% who won did not post on Twitter about it.

Island Sanctuary is maximum copium. Yoshida has said multiple times to temper your expectations on what it provides. First off, what would be the point to housing wards if it could be emulated there? Secondly, he said instanced housing for every player was impossible on the servers. So I doubt it will remotely be on the scale of actual housing with hundreds of items.

Honestly, I wouldn't really look forward to Island Sanctuary as a replacement for housing. If I had to guess, it's probably more like this expansion's version of rebuilding the Doman Enclave with a bit more customization and features.

maybe like Lost Ark's stronghold or WoW's garrison, a place you can customize to an extend, but it's not "your house" - stuff like "do you want this plot here to grow pumpkins, or sunflowers?" "should this building be a storeroom or a barn? and of what color?" and such.

When programmers forget a "+1" and literally no one tests the function, not even the programmer who wrote it.

Should have also made more wards for privates, my fc ward had 0 bidders on some of the M's and now has no S houses taken. Think they overshot on the FC houses and the private section was brutal and sad to watch. people also need to be more calm about this, put forth complaints yes but not attack or behave as if this is the end all be all for the game

I was incredibly lucky and got the plot I wanted without issue (aside from being broke and having to grind 450k gil afterwards lol), but I feel like a few things could've been done better for the sake of those affected by the bug. Examples being taking those last one or two hours to make sure this wouldn't happen, alongside opening up more wards for private housing instead of FC housing. Like, I was genuinely shocked at how many wards in Empyreum were exclusively for Free Companies, an entire 18 wards, whereas only 6 were for private buyers.

Well this explains why earlier today when I was trying to enter the lottery there were no participants and no option to enter.

The problem with letting everyone bid on the houses again is now all the people that want houses and lost will now all pile on the houses getting a second chance and flooding the placards that had 1 bid on them. The person that won due to lack of competition now will most certainly not get one. They need to manually find the people that lost due to 0 bids and give them the house. I would be so mad that I might even quit at that point. Housing is so frustratingly hard to get prepatch. And with personal housing only getting 6 wards (wtf) when you have so many empty FC wards. And you would have won the house of your dreams in Ishgard. That's rough.

For the FC wards with single participants, they would have had a 50% chance (1 or 0) so yes a lot of reporter bias. That's still more likely of winning than plots with multiple bids, 4 bids = 20% chance (0,1,2,3,4) etc.

I just tried to get a house two days ago, and had to give up after hours of trying. I’m glad you released this video.

You can't take away a house someone won. As far as that contest goes it just means there was an extra participant... participant zero. So everyone who applied for that house had the same odds of winning, it was just 1/ (x + 1) instead of just 1/x.

People upset, i can understand. I do hope this gets fixed, but at least your not out the gil. You get refunded for losing, not like your out the 50 million gil. *I'm guessing the people who won the plots will keep them and plots that got 0 will go back up for auction.

you would get your gil back if you lost to glitch 0 or not, and now itll be even harder to win as your glitched house is gonna be in view and people will go and apply on it- and proably much more peopel than before thus your chance is going to be much smaller than before imagine you were only one person who applied for house and now there will be at least 20 people trying to get it, from 100% chance to get it youre on very low lcuck now we got fucked over

Can confirm, this is still happening. Many people in my FC received this message and posted it in our Discord.

I can’t say if the odds are accurate overall, but I checked every FC 30/60 plot in the Empyrium on my server that wasn’t bought yet and eight of those had ‘no entries’ despite all of them having multiple bids (one of them had 17). If that’s accurate to a greater whole, that’s nearly one in four houses that got bugged with the 0 winner glitch. But I also freely admit that that is an incredibly small sample size so there’s a good chance it’s off. Either way, this situation is all kinds of unfortunate.

This looks like a minor issue to me. People didn't lose any money, we just have a delay in being able to buy houses. Is that not correct?

it's a major issue if they don't reroll those bugged lotteries with the same participants. the plot i was on had 8 participants, but #0 won. if they just open it up again next cycle, there's going to be dozens if not hundreds of participants on it.

It is a minor issue. Computers gonna computer, things happen. It's not a dupe glitch or an account deleter, just a bug. Screaming, whining and throwing feces is neither wise nor helpful.

My FC landed a huge mansion and I'm so happy to be able experience that with them!

The thing with the FC housing having more wards is I think they wanted FCs to have 1st crack at getting a house, as they're not too many of them compared to single players wanting a private. There also was a small blip on how the housing wards will be adjusted in future lotteries based on each server. So there will be more private available in other wards with the future lotteries. I think a bunch of people missed that statement.

If they rollback, I'm sorry but I'll just unsub. It won't matter in the big scheme of things but it would be just shy from infuriating just thinking of going through the anxiety of the lottery all over. I don't know if they ever replaced their dev env. If they have it, take up a backup (if rollback was to be an option, there must be a backup), set it up and then do some query work over both dev and production to either give out the 1 bids their house and/or set up the lottery again with the current bidders from dev on the corresponding production slots. With their architecture, this should be quite the task to accomplish... probably having to do this one DC at a time, not to mention the queries runtime and actually coming up with them... Sucks, but waiting on this beats a full rollback.

@@25784lazza those should be the easiest case to spot by comparing databases and should be given the plot immediately. I'm obviously assuming a lot with this take. I DO believe it's way more complicated than what I may have described, but they should have the data to pull it off regardless.

Tbh they need to reduce the amount of fc slots, and not that many on all the districs. On chaos cerberus there is enough active fcs to only take up 2 districts at most in ishgard. Not in all of them, even the old ones. I think it would have been better to do the reverse, max 6 fc slots on all districts and rest for individuals. It's sad to see that not even 1/6 of the slots in the fc slots are even taken afterwards while the individual slots was all taken.

A lot of the people that were the only participant may have been on Oceanic Servers. Some people are still concerned with leveling up so many wards still have tons of houses with no bids on them. The one I bid on only had two people (and I lost to them even though they snipped the house out from under me at the last minute...) and yet it was one of the beachfront houses in the Mist. So...yeah...

Please tell me the programmer(s) that implemented this system didn't use a conditional loop that started with a '0', and then set that value as the first number in their logic.

I understand being mad, but reversing the results of the people who won fairly or threatening the devs is the stupidest thing I've ever heard and those people need to check themselves.

They just said the people who won did win it fairly though in the most recent post. It was the servers not talking to each other that caused the bugs, even though there were winners.

My number was 2 and i did win today so happy finally an own house!

On Materia data center there are plots that weren’t bid on yet and many that were bet on by one person it’s still ghost town when it comes to players able to afford a house and all the districts rolled out there at once so many new plots available 😅. That’s where the one person bid comes from imo xD

Well hopefully they fix the issue for those affected or atleast return back the Gil as worst case scenario. But Tbh I'm more upset private buyers only got 6 wards , feel like they should have split it in half , since many FC wards in my server was left empty but the private was jam pack.

3:08 On Materia, housing isn't competitive at all. I went to hunt for a house plot 15 min before cut off time, and many plots still had one or no bids at all.

@@Sovek86 Yeah, it's prime real estate, many wards on Bismark have 0 bids on many plots. As I said, it will take a little effort, but if we can encourage more people to OCE, it'll reduce competition elsewhere while evening out the population density. It's not like the servers are dead either, just lower population.

this affected me too :(. as a developer, i kind of cant understand this bug, becasue it's very easy to filter through an array of numbers and make it only return every result that is greater than zero. but maybe game devlopment is differnt than software development. i was so ready to claim my plot for my fc(i was the only bidder) and was PISSED at this bullshit

they could have done a mistake and think select winner and added an unneeded element-1. For example a parallel array for entry number(to show user what entry number they are) along with entry name and then draw from element thinking then doing -1 thinking it was drawing entry number.

I've come to the conclusion that game developers are actually just scuffed compared to other software developers.

Plots are opening up in other locations! I hope that those become available for bidding on April 21st! I lost my bid for a plot in Ishgard to 2 and I was 8, and now I am seeing what my options are in the other three locations!

Historically The Goblet is the least popular, might be your better choice.

I was the only bid on a medium plot and I got it! Now I can safely bid on a large zero plot with no risk!

Even though I was lucky enough to get a small, I feel so sorry for this to happen to people, it's so stupid that this can and did happen, it's unacceptable and is incredibly stupid. I would hope they kept logs of each lottery and just reroll them without the 0 and have a failsafe for the people who took money out.

Even moreso now than when I said it in the comments of the hroth hair video, but what has been going on behind the scenes with 6.1? i'm absolutely and truly surprised to see the most recent problems

6.1 was the opening of *all* the housing districts in the Oceanic data centre. The first time any of us could try and get a house. And so many 0's on plots where there was only one bid. On the plus side, all the large plots had zero bids on them anyway. Very few people had that much gil on the new servers.

i don't understand what the problem is? Participants got their money back, they didn't waste their time clicking on a placard, and no one actually got the plot. People who got plots weren't in direct competition with them either, since you can only submit an entry for one plot during the lottery period. So just wait a little longer, and they'll probably have the lottery up for those empty plots.

@@beanclam people who were literally the one single participant in the lottery on their plot lost. they had a 100% chance to win their plot but didn't get it due to the bug.

I feel like the bugged plots need to be rerolled and add 6 more personal Wards in a patch for all the Wards. I know it is considerably hard to do with server capacity but something has to give if they dont want to give instanced housing for each person. If the Island is like the Serenitea Pot in Genshin, honestly that would be great.

My FC was the only participant on our plot (mine was the only entry) and it was won with no issue with #1 being the winner as expected, so the bug isn't hitting everyone.

In true lottery fashion, the house always wins :)

What they need to do is just make island sanctuary a player house and let all the other wards become FC housing that way players at least get a chance to own a house. I think this is the best solution for housing in FF14 since why add all these items for only a small group to get access to them.

My fc had the only 3 bids on a mansion plot and were incredibly excited, I even spent a ton on the mogstation because the whole fc saved to get the bids. We gathered 30mins before and counted down the minuets until we though we had won and everyone clicked the sign together to find who won it for us to have all of us to lose to 0. It is very unlikely we would would get the mansion if it goes back to auction because a few bids on other mansions went though. It is seriously devisating and in my opinion the only way to fix is is have rerolls on the with the origional bidders removing 0 from the pool.
