ZENOAH Top End Rebuild

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

DIY Zenoah Top End Rebuild - In todays video we’ll be working on the Zenoah motor out of the FG 4wd 1/5 scale rc car! That’s right I suggested it and you legends asked for it! So the Zenoah G270 goes under the knife, what I’ll show you today can be used on any RC cars motor or engine - I even cut open a Nikasil cylinder to show what a wearing cylinder looks like! This is also applicable to dirt bikes, cars, chainsaws, motor bikes, motorcycles haha if it has a Nikasil cylinder this video is for you!!!
Thanks for watching everyone and remember to subscribe like, share and comment!!

Really love the content you’re putting out here. I don’t race on-road, just bash off-road RCs, but the power plants are the same and share other concepts as well. I find your general RC videos very informative. The carb rebuild video was amazing as well and enjoyed the bearings install talk. This hobby is pretty niche I know specially fifth scale, but still confusing how we don’t have quality content on these engines on youtube, but looks like that’s about to change :) keep up the good work!!

Hi Mark, you keep making surprises to all of us , the cut in half cylinder is all the money, explaining the work of the engine . Great video again and very very useful to all of us . Keep up that great work my friend.

Great video Mark on how to complete a top end rebuild. Compression plays a big part in engine performance, tuning and hassle free running. Many people are scared to pull apart there engines in fear of stuffing them up, but as you showed in your video its not that hard and the benefits is well worth keeping your engine in top shape for max power and fun!! So keep up the good work +the info you are supplying to the racers is fantastic and will only help the sport grow even bigger!!!

Another good video. Another way to create the gap for the cool is to use paper. Normal A4 paper is 0.1mm, so cut off a strip and fold it twice. There's your 0.3 and you don't magnetize your feeler gauge.

Mark Thomasson Thank you for your video, it's well explained and so clear. I do have a question about the engine. If you do a full cycle with the piston and look from the carburator ''hole'' does the piston come down all the way? Can you see the top of the piston when doing the cycle? Thx a lot!

Excellent video. I've never seen the cylinder cut open like that. It was a real eye opener to see how the gasket thickness affects compression. If you were going to redesign the cast aluminum cylinder from scratch, what would you change?

Subscribed - great, informative videos. Would really appreciate some 2-stroke tuning videos. There’s enough theory videos out ther, but a practical, video showing how you tune for peak performance would be great. Maybe a bench video showing how needle adjustments impact sound and overall power. Thanks!

That is great! Was going to ask the same, I look forward to it. My main confusion is with the Idle screw and what to do with since I can tune the low speed needle to control the idle as well. Low speed and Idle screw settings are the confusing part to me, seems like I can adjust either to achieve a good idle, so not sure! Looking forward to your video!

I had such a hard time to get the head onto the piston. It's a brand new engine, the 36cc double ring CY engine. I was removing the bottom ring before even running it. Then it was stuck. After pouring some oil in there and pulling on the pull start its turning.

Arrow on the piston points to exhaust? So head bolts are 7nm but what about crank bolts? I’m doing a full build bottom end up and the seller that sold me the kit claims there are no torque specs for the 32cc

right so.. maybe im not the best researcher when it comes to this topic but perhaps you can somewhat answer my question: is there like a sign or something that may tell me if a motor is quote on quote worn out? cause you can't tell me with the wear and tear and stresses a motor goes through, it doesn't wear down. bare in mind, im fairly new to gas (specifically RC) engines like Zenoah or ones from Rovan.

Awesome video mate, look forward to see your full rebuild videos and how to modify head. Do you ever modify your carbs? I have a ported head for my G320 zenoah and want to find out how to modify my carby to supply more fuel!! I think it’s a pop off mod ??

  • @MarkThomasson76

Thanks Legend, appreciate the support! I don't normally have to worry about the carb supplying enough fuel (our track is pretty short, so much much time WOT) the pop off mod really relates to the spring, if you are running out of fuel i'd be checking the metering lever or diaphragm! what are you running the G320 in?
