Yea I do agree that Kanao does look surprised, but if you take a longer look you will notice that is the look of “Lord give me the strength, to not hurt this white boy here”

Actually, when I first saw Kimetsu, Zenitsu wasn't my favorite either, but I started to read the manga and there're moments that make you love him, like defending his gramps legacy or the light novel, chap 2. Love it!
