It's absolutely insane to me that after everything Zenith has brought to the watchmaking world and for all of their brilliance, they really don't get the love they completely deserve

Branding and marketing is everything. JLC and Zenith are proof of this, they make a superb product, but lack in branding and marketing.

@@BarkandJack interesting. It would appear that Rolex is best in the business in terms of Branding and Marketing but what they do doesnt really connect with me. Grown up seeing the Brand in association with Wimbledon so have always known the Brand but thats as far as it goes.

I have the 42mm non-1/10 second version and I just love it. As you mentioned, it is absolutely gorgeous. It has that jewel-like quality where it just sparkles. It is also amazingly accurate - it's been running within 0.5 seconds per day since I bought it a year ago.

I’ve had a great love for zenith el primero chronomaster for a while but hasn’t pulled the trigger, yet… absolutely love the story and history and must say I’m quite surprised that it doesn’t get more respect, attention and appreciation. Also, I can recommend looking at Maen Skymaster 38 for a quite similar looking piece with a GMT function on the bezel.

Zenith is, to me, all about the heritage models. The modern stuff isn't for me, and I often forget any of those even exist. The Original 38 and the A384 define the brand for me. Glad you found it!

I love it! Seem to be shorter on $$ these days so immediately go put on my Movado Datron HS360 with the Zenith El Primero movement for a fix. I could do without the date at 12, but was not a deal breaker when purchasing about ten years ago. This Zenith you are showing today is a beauty. Love the channel.

I've always overlooked Zenith until a few days ago when I got hands on with a Defy Classic Carbon... An absolute masterpiece of watch engineering 👌

I wear my Chronomaster Sport every day and the Zenith fit and finish is just amazing. A truly remarkable watchmaker.

Love it, nothing beats a nice and subtle chronograph! I have a blancpain leman flyback chronograph at similar proportions, tho about a millimeter thinner but not with an open case back.. I absolutely love that watch, it’s the watch my father got for himself when I was a toddler and I was immediately drawn to it.. couldn’t wish for a nicer timepiece.

Absolutely stunning.. Got a Type 20 'Extra Special" chrono in bronze for the same vintage feel, but this is a different vintage. This is like a classic Stingray Corvette with a resto-mod LS7 under the hood. I want it also!

I've tried the original 69 and it seemed to small on my fairly small 17cm wrist. The 42mm seemed to large. The dial is a stunner and I love the fact that it's a 1/10th of a second. Thanks for the reminder on this gem.

I held one at a boutique: had never paid attention to it until then, and then I fell in love with it.

I sourced a chronomaster sport triple calendar with moon phase a number of years back ( full box/papers) and absolutely love it. Amazing the features packed into such a graceful and slender watch and beautiful design and finish. Just doesnt get much wrist time as i regard it as a fairly delicate dress watch. Need to realign my thinking !!

I want one too. Like the vintage vibe of it.. Looking into sourcing one starting today..

I think this watch is stunning. Being fairly new to the hobby, I was at first gung ho about the Omega speedmaster. Not that I dont love the "speedy", but through my searches and reviews, the El Primero started to pop up. I was instantly drawn to the vintage look of the watch. When I learned about the history of the movement, I became excited for this watch. This will be the chrono I purchase before I buy the speedmaster.

I agree, a lot of classically inspired Zenith watches get overlooked. Another calibre they made however, is also overlooked. Calibre 135. Granted, time only calibre, but a stunner. Kari Voutilainen reqorked the 135 for Zenith recently and those pieces looks orgasmic.

@swiftusmaximus5651 it is definitely more difficult and expensive to service. I had a vintage el primero fixed, which cost me 1/8 of the watch's value. But in the end, I think it's still worth having it, it's such a jem. Moreover, you are confident you won't get the fake deal as el primero movement is difficult to replicate.

Great video, great watch. Another Chrono that I would recommend, but is very different, is the Glashutte seventies Chrono panorama date. I have one and love it

I wore one of those at a watch get together about a year ago. That reverse Panda is the nicest chronograph I've ever held or worn. Your lust for it is warranted. Get one, I'd say. :)

I own the tricolor version of the watch and absolutely love it. It is great with the bracelet and it works great with leather straps as well (blue being my preferred choice). The leather straps give it an additional vintage feel. However, the bracelet looks great and is really well made. For me, the watch ticks all the boxes. PS: I don’t care about the date window. While I appreciate that it may interfere with optics, I find a date application useful for everyday wear.

My eyes have been on the Zenith Chronomaster Revival A386 Manufacture Edition. Also, in 38 mm but with subdials in different shades of blue. Very cool! Need one video on that as well 🙂 Great video as always!!

Love this watch, love Zenith watches. If I were to buy a chronograph, Zenith would be my choice. Great looking, easy to read, a functional tool for everyday use, for me.

This has been probably my favorite modern zenith

I just got a Zenith Chronomaster Original (the tri-color subdial iteration). My initial reluctance was whether I'd find 38mm too small to read as a chronograph (I don't live remotely near a Zenith authorized dealer). I went ahead and took a chance as I really like the throwback look. It is quite wearable and reasonably legible for the chronograph features.

I fully understand coveting a watch at first glance (mine is the Tudor FXD). It will take years for me to save for the watch, but that will only enhance your enjoyment when your Zenith is on your wrist!

It's good, really good. I have the blue Manufacture Edition and that one is never leaving the collection. The fact that Zenith is not such a well known brand but does have mighty impressive heritage is actually part of the brand appeal to me, it's under the radar unless you know your watches 🙂

Lovely looking watch that. On the lower price mark, I would recommend the Longines Avigation big eye, stunning piece. Just got one for a big birthday as an everyday piece and it’s super super nice

A beautiful watch - I would love to see more Zenith watches designed like this. Would also love to see it with an El Primero 21 movement (I just love the sweep when measuring 1/100th!)

I fell in love with the A384 revival myself. The size, the case shape, the bracelet, and the dial details do a great job of making it more interesting than yet another Daytona/Speedmaster without tilting into the overtly retro territory of the Monaco or the Top Time watches. I think Zenith is doing a great job with their heritage reissues across the board and their new Pilot makes me think they may finally be finding a path forward that tastefully incorporates the past and present.

Both lines are so sick, I'd like to own an example of each one day. My next fancy chronograph purchase is going to be something from these guys...if the A3817 didn't use faux patina lume, it would be that one for sure, but I might end up going with the tricolor A386 and wait to see what new A384 variants get released over the next few years. They're just such fantastic looking watches.

This is an absolutely gorgeous watch. The dial is beautifule, the size is perfect for my wrist, and the movement is packed with ground-breaking mechanical tech and vintage tool watch vibe. I would greedily wish the price would be reduced for around $1K to the level of their own Revival El Primero so that I could pull the trigger without question, but at its current standing it sits top of my list for my next purchase.

I own one and I love it! And 38mm for my wrist is the perfect size!

Not a big chrono fan but can't deny it's stunning.

I tried that one on in 2021 and fell in love with it...the price though at the time. But you CAN get them at a pretty good discount now grey. But this one is special.

So nice! I personally love the Seiko SRQ037, a blue panda chronograph with a vertical clutch and column wheel but also has some chonk at 15.1 thick.

Wow, Adrian is opening up to Zenith, good to see. It is hard to believe this went unnoticed in the Barkerverse for so long. I guess someone was too busy foaming at the mouth about the Chronomaster Sport when it came out.

This is my next watch Adrian, it’s beautiful, tried it on the other day and it’s a perfect fit , time for my Speedmaster Reduced to go.

Let us imagine that you can walk into an AD and buy a Daytona ( Steel obviously ). Now lets imagine both the Zenith and Rolex cost the same money....I would take the Zenith. Stunning looking piece that falls into my 36mm to 39mm window, love it. Thanks for sharing Adrian.
