Storyline:
A feature length documentary work which presents a case for a needed transition out of the current socioeconomic monetary paradigm which governs the entire world society. This subject matter will transcend the issues of cultural relativism and traditional ideology and move to relate the core, empirical "life ground" attributes of human and social survival, extrapolating those immutable natural laws into a new sustainable social paradigm called a "Resource-Based Economy".
Reviews:
"This is the best entry in the entire "Zeitgeist" series and it's also one of my favorite documentaries ever made! I generally don't review documentaries, but this was an exception given that it's possibly the most voted on direct to video movie series ever created! I really did enjoy this because it really focused on the importance of the individual. This is also the longest documentary I've ever seen! It was great that it was very organized and divided into four different parts. I am also so glad that it didn't reference those stupid 911 conspiracy theories at all. This is a truly irrational idea that no one should support.
This movie actually seemed to show off a much more positive aspect of religion. Well, it still doesn't quite support it, but it does mention some religious groups who would rather go to jail than go to war. The film's most important part is probably when it reveals what the biggest killer of all is. After mentioning some of history's worst dictators, it mentions how poverty is the most dangerous thing to the most people. Then again, Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong did in fact directly cause famines and deaths of starvation. Well, I'd probably have to do more research.
We first see what it is that makes people evil. It argues the case that it's something that isn't natural. It's great to learn more about the economy. It makes you realize what the true value of money is and how our society is functioning. We realize that there are certain things that everyone must do no matter what your ideals are. You could consider nature a dictatorship as it dictates you must obey the laws of science and need certain things to survive. With the increasing population, these things will always will a problem. I don't always agree with these films, but I found this to be the best of them all." -Written by ericstevenson on IMDb.com

    I did not find the answers quite as "elegant". This film would have us accept that freedom of choice and personal responsibility are not important. These films advocate for socialism, which eventually leads to communism. Sure, capitalism has it's flaws, but those flaws simply need to be done away with. Aspects such as usury and fractional reserve banking, fiat currency, etc. We simply need to get rid of the flaws and go back to the gold standard.

  • @perjanuschas8050

    @perjanuschas8050

    I agree, a lot of the answers given here are fundamentally socialistic, and won't ever work. It's flawed because it's based on over simplification of too many things. A very typical communist trademark. When that is said, there are also very many good points, but having every one being made equal doesn't solve anything. This is because some people are truly self driven, and others are not. You cannot and should not force the self-driven to pay for the lazy that claim they cannot or don't have the same resources. All it takes is will. Some just don't have any. You cannot force the weak to carry the strong. This is survival of the fittest. Just accept that it's a part of the deal being human. It sucks, but never the less it's a fact.

    Interesting and thought provoking. How do the theories espoused account for people who grow up with a loving, empathetic environment but still turn out to be sadistic, greedy scumbags? Or people who experience extreme trauma and turn out to be wonderful, successful people? I don't think there is a single theory or set of theories capable of explaining everything. This world/life is amazingly complex and despite our best attempts to understand, the truth of some things evades us and probably always will. All I know is life is in many ways very unpredictable, which makes it more interesting imo.

    I know as a social worker sometimes all it takes is one event unsupported or clumsily handled to snowball into a huge impact on a person’s life. Honestly unless we come from this scientific understanding of humans, we don’t have a chance of fully comprehending what causes these outliers. This system of understanding is better than blaming genetics as unchallenging/unchangeable. Some people are outliers but for the most part this is true of most humans. Truth is we don’t know all the environmental factors that these sadistic outliers had. For example perhaps on the outside we may see that they grow up in a home where all of the needs for the child/young adult were provided even perhaps loving parents but perhaps an instance of violence occurred not just a physical one but a sadistic one that switched the path of that person’s life. It is a complex world so our best bet is to use the most up to date information to make humans healthier. To know we are not automatically programmed but a complex person shaped by environment.

    @@florentin4061 Peterson is right. Capitalism is the method... you can replace or get rid of it won't do anything... another method will replace it. What we need to get rid of is the monetary-market system itself. Socialism/Communism/ Fascism... all use the monetary-market system. Peterson never said anything about the monetary-market system... he said capitalism, which is just one method of many on how to use the monetary-market system, so in that aspect (getting rid of capitalism will not change anything) he is right. 🤔 Dr. Peterson just doesn't want to attack the monetary-market system, because like so many people he doesn't know the name of the system, nor does he know that the solution could be Resource-Based economy, which does not use money, period! He has some good ideas, but he keeps missing the mark... due to fear, lack of knowledge/understanding, or simply does not care for it. The guy is after all in his 60s and is rooted in his own beliefs of the world...i.e. incapable of learning new concept or ideas, especially any that challenges his bias ideas or concepts of the world. If you don't care about being poor, if it doesn't bother you that others are better off than you, there should be no effect upon you because you are not subjecting yourself to the pressures which result in negative health effects. There is always going to be some way for a person to get by without being a part of this sick society. Barter is one way to provide for yourself without being a wage slave to others. Be self employed. Find something that people need, whether it be computer repair, driving for a living or making handmade goods. What I do not understand about these programs is they create stress by educating you to just how screwed you are, all without suggesting any actions that we can take to end this mad mess that we have allowed the governments of the world to get away with. We all know deep inside that something is wrong with the way the world is run. The greed of humans is endless. The capacity to care only for oneself is being taught to the whole world. It is very clear that if humans do not learn to think as a family rather than as enemies, we are not going to last much longer. The me era is over, it is time to learn to think as we. Money is a concept, it has been pounded into our psyches that we need money. That couldn't be further from the truth. The resources of Earth are not meant to be owned by a corporation or even a govt. The resources of this planet are here for everybody's benefit. That we have allowed any entity to convince us that we do not deserve to use our share is ridiculous. Production is not dependent upon money. Production is possible without money from the moment that we invent how to put the resources to work. Selfishness, greed and violence are the greatest enemies to mankind's progress. If we are to ever reach our highest potential we must eradicate the concept of profit. Profits come from depriving another human of their share of this world's abundant resources. We must end profits. Doing is all that needs to be done. Money is not needed to give people a reason to live. Shelter, food and caring for one another is all that needs to be done. Imagine a world where everything we need is provided by people who want to work for the betterment of all humanity, rather than strive to deprive others of life. A person who goes to sleep owning millions or billions or trillions of dollars is in effect sentencing thousands of people to death every day of their life. First place is not a game anymore. Every person on this planet deserves a home, food to eat and to feel love. It is time to try another way as this one is obviously not working for 99% of us. 99% should be able to convince that 1% to give back what they have taken from the rest of us. All should have a share of what this planet provides to us without having to give away our souls to those who have none.

  • @Andre-hm5vo

    @Andre-hm5vo

    The 99% shouldn't need to convince the 1%, we (assuming we were all unified) would just take control over them whether they like it or not. Whatever happens unfortunately the transition (if to ever happen) will be violent the only question remains is will that violence be the extinction of the human species.

Was also locked in the car when she left to get shopping/do errands...that made me carry my children, breast feed both for approx 1,5 each, sleep next to them not using the buggy etc. I also made sure they knew (if I ever had a hard time, n I noticed they noticed to tell "it's not your fault n don't worry I'll be alright" as I often blamed or was outright blamed for "the misery" n told I was trouble, rotten, not worthy...and I always looked at them/activities and told them they were good n I loved them. Sure made mistakes anyway...but I did all I could to avoid or listen/apologise. Relationship building is an ongoing process of stepping on each other's sensibilities, then negotiating over each other's demands. Some relationships are toxic and may end in pathology or death. Some make it through, or thrive. I have hope. I have cheritibility. And lines I won't cross. I have big love and death to look forward to.

We are taught to conform from a very early age. We are taught to consume for the sake of consuming. We are taught to be cold, uncaring and indifferent to others suffering. Finishing second is still being a loser we are told. Never give a sucker an even break. The inhumanity is out there to be learned by knowledge hungry children who are happy to please adults and the praise they receive when they are able to successfully show their ability to not care for the people around them. Don't give money to beggars, we are told that they just need to get a job. They are said to be right where they want to be or they would have jobs and not be on the streets. Little matter that the employment level is dropping every year due to more and more robots doing a human beings work. Unless we are given a portion of the profits made by the corporations due to the letting go of human help... This nation will see itself becoming a desolated wasteland of people who no longer have jobs because the corporations, which our parents and grandparents as well as great grandparents helped to become the world leaders they are today. The manner in which this began was when Richard Nixon began his wooing of China on behalf of corporate America. Here in Sweden we have "Social Democracy" that somewhat is "infused" in the Swedish model, but some parties want it more Right oriented and some want even more Socialist ideas implemented. But i don't mean Communist/Super-Socialism because we all know that it is just a beautiful idea and humans just Can't get along well enough to make it work. And when socialist ideals are forced onto the majority it is worthless and not democratic(like China?). And i actually did a little research on where in the "modern world"(not amazonas) people are "happiest" and had the highest quality of life and not to my surprise it was here in Scandinavia. i am not a Politics professional but when i heard that Americans pay 25% tax that is not being used for the collective it quite scared me how ignorance can be implemented to rule even now in the 2000's. All the taxes we pay in Sweden is used for the benefit of the collective. for example: a bottle of vodka(0.75l) costs about 20 dollars(200 Swedish Crowns) and the tax is about 14 dollars(140 Kr) on 1 bottle so you pay almost 75% of the price in tax. For cigarettes there is like 0.2 Dollars(20Kr) tax on every pack of cigarettes and now a pack with 20 Prince costs about 7.5 dollars(75Kr) but that tax money is used to help those getting sick from Alcoholism or Tobacco and the time spent in Detox and whatever operation you may need is free and top notch. You can only buy alcohol in ONE special shop called "Systembolaget" and it is owned by the Government as to control the Alcohol, and it is also closed on sundays because if you can't buy a quick fix on sunday morning to feel better after a night out you are much less likely to develop an addiction to it. You can always buy 3.5% beer in supermarkets if you really need a little. You can't get better help even if you pay(only faster if you go to private clinics). We have collective bus traffic that really goes Everywhere and is really cheap and comfortable. The School system is also really good also and it is free. You start when you are 2-4 in "Daycare", then "preschool" at 6. then First to sixth class and after that you move up to 7-9:th class, and after that almost EVERYONE starts High school for 3 years or more if you change your mind and wants to start over after a year on another school and it all is free. Then after that you can choose higher studies on universities and that is also totally free. School lunch is also free even at the Universities, and there is even Studies made that says that free school lunches were associated with students growing up a little taller and ended up with statistically significant higher income. If you dislike those ideas or if you are wondering something about our tiny little land so just ask me because i find it just as interesting to learn about other Countries and cultures as it is to share our culture. Cheers from Gothenburg/ Sweden :3 :)

While all crosses were many solid bright colors the small center one was the little cross made from camo cloth. Maybe made in the factory in my small town in Virginia which sells their cloth to US military who wear it in southern nations carrying weapons giving “aide” to these nations. Ive loved all of these docs. The one issue Ive really found is the example of Milton Friedman's explanation that the responsibility of the old man's electric fell upon the man's friends and neighbors and the the narrator extrapolated that out to the entire world. Milton was making a point about community and looking out for one another. Milton is a major opponent to the welfare state and from my recollection promotes the support of the immediate community to help one another. Now, you need to understand this within the context of the philosophy of the system which we talks about. You can't compare his philosophy against the context of the Venus Project because it doesn't match. As for modern day, Ive known of electric companies that can't turn off a house's electric if the residents are dependent upon electric for their immediate, i.e. the need to refrigerate insulin or the need for a breathing apparatus.

    If not to each other, what can these philosophies (and any others) be compared to? How can or should we evaluate them? I think it was actually a poignant illustration of how faulty such a philosophy might be... That within its proper context it actually seems convincing and good; you're defending it! While in reality, and even though I firmly believe in communities & people coming together in story of each other, if the underlying system you/we live in fundamentally relies on charity by its very structure rather than addressing in some way the survival of everyone (when there are far more than enough resources to meet every human need), while that philosophy may contain some valuable ideas, that system should not be seen as anything but insufficient.

    "Epigenetic" is another term for what the ancients called "formal cause" and what Michael Clarage has identified with the electrical effect of plasmas. Plasmas "carry" all formal causes, including those that we call physical as well as mental and social. As Eric McLuhan put it succinctly: "Of the 4 [Cowses] Farm’l Cows is the fundamental one and it contains all of the udders." - E. McLuhan

    Toward the end of the 18th century Mayer Rothschild, referencing the work of Michael Faraday, came to understand that social institutions, especially economies, followed the laws of electromagnetism, including current, inductance, capacitance, resistance, etc.. He posited a multigenerational scheme to found a family based on using these principles to acquire and maintain power. However, these institutions are "built circuits" rather than freeform plasmas, and are thus limited to the same constraints as other kinds of built circuits. As such, they become obsolete whenever there is a significant change in the environment that disrupts their calculated courses...

    On tracking resources: The tracking process should also take into consideration how the regeneration of natural resources is reliant upon the interconnectedness of the regeneration process: i.e. trees need water and air to grow which are both resources upon which we, too, are dependent in their naturally occurring state. We may be able to track our own use of water, for example, but the use of water by trees would also have to be tracked. All of the interconnected uses of resources for the regeneration of other resources, likewise.

    Though very valid criticisms I must say that the system makes sense in many ways, money represents time, time for development of skills, making of tools, harvesting or growing or mining, and debt represents the investment of your time later for resources requiring time now, interest exists as the price of money. we do not have enough jobs that fulfill needs alone and this would also create a society like ants, very efficient but not anything else. The error of eternal growth, overly expensive product and addiction all need to be felt with.

    I think the idea is that the flip side of the coin is money stops progress. Technology currently can’t progress unless it is financially beneficial, as opposed to beneficial for society as a whole. Clothing and feeding everyone isn’t financially beneficial even though it is very important for society - so society can’t progress. And so on and so on.

    We need an updated version of Zeitgeist series and Culture in Decline... things are far worse. ...yet at the same tine relieving, because more people are realizing how flawed and outdated our economic system is right now and so many are dropping out of the work place or doing bare minimal. Soon enough we need to automate our society into a technological society or see another Dark Age. 🤔 Anyways thank you for the post. Ase.
