This Is a very sad but amazing sighting. I am a mother and this was hard to watch. The suffering this poor animal endured had to be immense. The crying out was my clue to that. She would have never drawn attention to herself during labor unless she couldn't stop herself. Thanks for video, truly unique capture.

Idk. I've watched wild dogs eating prey alive, and they're fast eaters. It'd be over probably in half an hour max. She was in excruciating pain for a day. Prey animals often don't make a lot of sound while giving birth, in order to not attract predators. This one was in such pain that she screamed. I think I'd choose some hungry wild dogs, a nice big group of them.

That theme song for the lion's entrance gave me the laugh of the day.

I was scared thinkin the lions were gonna come while the zebra was delivering the baby and maul both mother and baby

I think the juvenile that kept staying behind was her foal from an earlier pregnancy. Touching how they stayed behind, but I think the others could tell lions were coming and that there was nothing they could do, so they left.

I'm very aware that it was the same for my mother where she gave birth to me. She was 4 foot 11 inches tall, and I weighed 10 pounds 11 ounces at birth. After 42 hours trying to give birth, I was eventually delivered via a cesarean. Thank goodness for human ingenuity, and thank goodness for the NHS.

Smh. Humans want to help every animal on earth except other humans. Smh. People say o6h the poor zebra but walk pass a homeless man and not give a dime. A minute of conversation a warm blanket or a second glance .Just shut up its not his job to help. Just like you feel its not your job to help someone in need.

Thats cuz the homeless guy most likely did dropped out of school, didnt get a job, did drugs, etc.. and put him/herself in that position. I work in Downtown and theres literally homeless people everywherre I go and i dont give em shit....they can help themselves. I am not entitled to give that person money.

I would have granted the zebra mercy and shot its head. It seems the videographers should be armed against predators. Why did none of them grant the zebra the mercy it so urgently needed?

In a preserve, I guess there is no human intervention to a natural event. A bullet would be merciful. But that would probably be a legal issue in a preserve. If nobody were looking, I would probably still give the zebra mercy.

I'm so tired of people saying the narrator should of helped. First of all, maybe he doesn't have the equipment or knowledge to help. Second of all, maybe he wasn't there while it was happening. Usually recorders are hidden in trees, rocks, etc. and the content is viewed & edited later. Thirdly, if he was there while the incident occurred, do you really expect him to leave the safety of his car to fight lions over a foe that's already probably dead and a zebra who is probably too far gone to survive?

Awww those jackals aren’t afraid of those huge lions. They stay very close to the Kings.

The cycle of life. Difficult to watch the struggling zebra. But her death provides food for other animals. Amazing seeing all the different wildlife: zebra, vultures, ostrich, lions, jackals, wildebeest. And I knew hyena were going to make an appearance. Truly awe inspiring. Nature gives and nature takes. Thank you for sharing this video.
