Zaytoven Lists Steps To Independent Success In The Industry

Ойын-сауық

www.vladtv.com - Famed producer Zaytoven has seen many wins in his career. From 1999 to today, the producer has worked with the likes of music's finest like Nicki Minaj, Usher, The Migos, Gucci Mane and more.
In this exclusive interview with VladTV, Zaytoven reveals how he came to reach such successful wins and how he managed to do so as an independent artist in the music industry.
First, Zay explains how working extensively on your craft can help cultivate a distinct sound. While he didn't reach success until 2004, he says the time doesn't exist anymore for new acts because of viral fame. Making beats everyday and showcasing his work with artists helped his name build buzz.
Another tip Zaytoven recommends is staying true to yourself. Following the independent path inside and out has kept him grounded. He explains how Gucci Mane found faith in him because he used organs and piano sounds in his beats. Since it wasn't the trendy sound spreading around Atlanta, Gucci was impressed by his work.
Lastly, Zaytoven says the "favor of God" has given him success. He prays and keeps a spiritual balance when it comes to his life path.
From following those rules, he's been able to venture outside of his music by producing two films, Birds of a Feather (amzn.to/1evfGXa) and Finesse (finessemovie.com/), both released on Netflix. He's also released a book titled, A to Zay(amzn.to/1dFOPag). The book focuses on his decade long career and more helpful tips on the music industry.
Check out the interview above.

Building a relationship with different artist is good, but if your product ain't no good you are just wasting your time. I like when he said " Be your own individual." there are so many upcoming rappers out there feel that if they sound like somebody already out there in the business that they are going to make it as well. Not true.

Roger Cook you either sound like somebody else & people think it's impressive but they don't ever come back for more. Or you sound like something crazy different & get mad hate for it but guarantee half those haters hitting your soundcloud links more than your real fans.

His first reason he made it was because of the 5 years of hustle. That is the key to any success. It takes 10,000 hours of hustle to make it in America. Do that and you become a master. Or don't....

Brandon Derrick I agree hustle is important, but you gotta be hustling on shit that’s productive for that line of work. There’s a lot of people who think that making 20 beats a day is grinding hard. First of all, this is the exact cause of why the rap game is so watered down on the radio the last decade. Dudes are making 10 beats a day off the same 808 saved template and moving the bass around with a brass hit here and a synth there. Hard work is better used spending maybe 6 hours a day setting up lunches with artists or buying studio time. Researching record labels and calling distributors. It’s reading up in music business. It’s investing in an RnB real singer for vocals. It’s listening to your beat 100 times and not rushing it, so it is a masterpiece...I would also say to someone younger 16-25yrs old. Get an internship at an Indie radio station or any radio station for that matter. Think of what you will learn and how many contacts you will get every week.

    2. Be your own individual. Zay is a legend with music he created and branding his own sound with real instruments particularly the organ. It's sad when you look another producer like Lex Luger who was unique, crafted his own sound, and was so successful with that sound he changed hip hop entirely and gave it new life. But never really got to chance to reap the benefits or recognition because so many other producers came in and began to steal his trademark.
