Thank you so damn much for uploading the series. This isn't available to watch anywhere else, so I appreciate it. I like that Ichi helps others that need help and he changes their lives for the better. And he has suffered, but keeps going anyway without giving up. And the writing is amazing...interactions between the characters are so real and down to earth. And of course, his badass fast as hell katana cane sword skills are enjoyable to watch. I will be buying the blu-ray set with the 26 Zatoichi films soon.

BTW. anyone else here hip to The Crimson Bat, everyone's favorite (female) Zatoichi copycat? The CB films are similar to most Zatoichi flicks, her character is also refined, honorable, focused and capable and, as Zatoichi copycats go, The Crimson Bat's not too shabby. And if memory serves, she and Zatoichi appear together in one film.

I was well-satisfied with the 27 Zatoichi films starring Katsu Shintaro & you go springing these gourmet 46-minute Zatoichi TV series episodes on us which I had long read about but assumed they would be silly in comparison to the feature length films. Color me oh so delightfully wrong. Katsu Shintaro and pals play so nice, on TV & in the cinema, don't you agree? Domo.

  • @michaelkottler

BTW, I find the opening music for the TV series pleasant in a uniquely relaxing yet energizing and whimsical way. Nice. Zatoichi possesses so many fine qualities in rare combination and represents the highest levels of capability, empathy, integrity, humor and honor. Katsu Shintaro's Zatoichi is a wonderfully well-intentioned, caring, and noble character whom I wish just once would get the woman of his dreams for more than five minutes as he is very deserving of every happiness. But without the pathos I guess it wouldn't be Zatoichi, but still. He's really the best and I would have preferred him as a kenjitsu and iaijutsu not to mention taijitsu instructor over all a majority of real-life others I've trained under. And what a friend and/or mentor or confidant he'd make. Zatoichi is so utterly cool in every way. He's the best kind of hero IMHO. Can you dig it?

I've seen all the movies with Shintaro Katsu, and even the rip off European western with with Ringo Starr, the 80's one with Rutger Hauer,... The Takeshi Kitano one of course (almost perfect, but the atrocious CGI blood ruins a lot of scenes. Even the one, Ichi, with the beautiful Haruka Ayase. I just missed the 2010 (very bad reputation, but...). But I can't find the US DVD for the series. So thanks a million fo uploading it!!!! P.S.: Shintaro Katsu was, still is and will forever be THE blind swordsman. Fabulous actor.
