    In a deeper history of the m85, they originated in 1985 (go figure) as a underfolding yugo carbine version of the m80. They were designed for the Yugoslavian Army before the Civil War. Fortunately the zpaps and the earlier m85pv's are imported with the correct trunnion. Just scored a underfolder with hardware for my conversion.

    Great video. I have an 85/tactical. Right now I have Zaztava under fold and a laser. That's it. I have the arm brace and a couple of different optics, but since I carry it my car I like the minimum. I was a career Marine so I qualified with the M-16 many times. I actually prefer the feel of this rifle more -- it's really solid, compact and optimal for me.

    Great video, I'm just getting my M85 set up. I got the CNC brace, I chose the JMAC 360 26-1.5 X20 Wolfman w/their BDS 20. I was like "how do I keep this from just spinning off?" I always put aeroshell grease on my barrel threads. Can high-temp lock mix with the grease. I always heard don't put red thread lock on if you ever wanna remove the break. The JMAC 360 has indents on them, why don't they send a little gear wrench with them?

  • @texasgunexperience5096

    @texasgunexperience5096

    Жыл бұрын

    rockset or high temp locktight can be removed with heat. It isn't a permanent solvent, but is highly recommended if you are running a suppressor. Threading a can on and off, or simply shooting, will in time, loosen your muzzle device if it isn't secured with some type of thread locker. If your device gets loose in even the slightest bit, it could cause misalignment of your suppressor and cause serious damage. If you are going to use it, clean off any grease on both the barrel and muzzle device threads real well with a degreaser/cleaner. you will want those threads clean and dry for any of those thread lockers to work properly. the 360 brake is great because it does not need timed, and has flat spots for a wrench. I'm sure they don't include a wrench for the muzzle device to keep costs down, no brands really do.

    depends on the adaptor you want to use: the threads on the gas block are 26mm which are quite large. Dead Air makes the wolverine (with available 26mm insert). JMAC Customs make both omega thread pattern (used in this video) and keymo brakes that will thread directly on the 26mm gas block. The Dead Air Sierra 5 used in this video is very impressive, Silencerco Omega 30 is great and versatile, and of course the Dead Air Wolverine is the AK go to.

  • @texasgunexperience5096

    @texasgunexperience5096

    What is a good all around zero for the ZPAP 85? I know it’s a 10” barrel so it would be something for close range and maybe out to about 100 to at the most 200 yards, probably more like 100 yards and in since that’s the max distance my local range has. Any and all recommendations are welcomed. Will be using a Holosun HS-510c green dot. As a side note, I pretty much cloned yours, minus the suppressor and optic. May go through the process for this exact suppressor in the future.

  • @texasgunexperience5096

    @texasgunexperience5096

    4 ай бұрын

    some of it depends on the optic and the purpose of the rifle. A lot of my dots are zeroed at 100 yards and have bullet drop lines/dots to adjust for ranging. arma targets make nice sight in targets that you can print and use to zero and account for point of aim/impact at various distances. If the center dot of your 510 is zeroed for 100. then that bottom hash at the 6o'clock if the big reticle, should be a good reference for CQB ranges 7-15 yards or for a much further 500 yards away

  • @texasgunexperience5096

    @texasgunexperience5096

    4 ай бұрын

    to ensure concentricity, find a bore alignment rod. with your muzzle device and silencer attached, run the rod all the way down the silencer, through the barrel, until it hits the bolt face. if the rod is not touching your silencer, then you are ok. If it is touching, then you are out of alignment. a gunsmith may be able to help rethread or, (since the threads are on the gas block) replace the gas block with a new thread set.

  • @texasgunexperience5096

    @texasgunexperience5096

    10 ай бұрын

    5.56 AK's are typically over gassed and adding a suppressor may help with the pressure loss from the ammo. With these shorter barrels, there is little to no dwell time, so unsuppressed with subs may not work, while with a can attached it may be just fine. We have not tried subsonic rounds on this setup.

    The Galil is hands down what one the most refined 7.62x39 platforms on the market, but the price also reflects that. I would say the Galil is cooler in temp, and the aluminum handguards don't hold much heat. The heat on the Zastava mostly comes from those steel retaining clips. The Zpap is fine without a glove until you start putting a lot of consecutive rounds down range. Adding a glove makes it more comfortable. I love the Galil and its by far one of the best 7.62 x39's out there, but this Zpap85 for some reason is one of my favorites. The gun has soul and feels like its ready for anything.

I'm not to keen on a NATO caliber in a com-bloc platform. Plus 5.56 has its strengths and having a better tuned platform with tighter tolerances compliments those strengths better than the AK platform does. 5.45x39 doesn't act exactly like 5.56 either. 5.45x39 has some key differences. Some things it does much better than 5.56x45. Like being used in short barrel set ups.

    Zastava has been producing quality, reliable AKs for a much longer time than PSA. PSA does not have a good track record with reliability; it's hit or miss on whether or not you get one that was properly put together. Zastava's track record is generally better and mostly suffered poor assemby because of third-party importer/assember Century Arms. Zastava itself has more experience and alsos provide lifetime warranties. From what I have seen, Zastava USA customer service seems to care a lot more to fix issues than PSA. They really care about their reputation and output now that they are in fuller control of their products. Moving on, AK-V does not have a CHF barrel and is 9mm. M85 has a CHF barrel and is 5.56x45mm. 9mm loses a lot of velocity down range compared to 5.56, limiting your sphere of effective range/engagement. Furthermore, M85 is Serbia strong. That being said, if PSA upped their quality control and attention to detail, I'd be happy to obtain an AK-102, AK-105 or AK-V from them.
