IWI Tavor X95 Overview

The IWI Tavor x95 has been in service with the Israeli military since the late 2000's. This rifle was a huge step forward in creating a bullpup that translated well to shooters from other platforms.

I love bullpups plus I don't have to worry about the shady brace ban or tax stamp or whatever they trying to do.

I bought mine two months before Covid. It’s my go to gun now. It’s awesome. I love the bullpup set up, full 18” barrel and it’s shorter than ar pistols. Balance is superb. I put a 1-4 power lpvo on it, best of both worlds. I love my ARs and my AKs, but I love my X95. And I got it for $1650 out the door new😁

you got a better deal than me, i got the same 18" but paid 1950...a premium yes but I'm glad I bought a PA made rifle as a ex-PA resident

I have both the X95 and the Tavor 7. They are both setup differently. I like the ergonomics and especially like the fact that you can change the Tavor 7 from a right hand to left by just using a .308 rd. within about 5 minutes

I bought one of the first runs when they came out in O.D. green, later I replaced the charging handle with the I.D.F. version and I got the I.D.F. grips. I run a Meprolight RDS on it, it's my favorite 5.56 weapon.

For aftermarket, I really wish someone (Looking at YOU, Manticore) would release a larger case deflector. If I switch to my left shoulder, I'm pretty much certain to get hit with brass. The first time I shot it leftie, I thought I had my face back far enough, but empties still drew blood from my chin.

As an x95 owner, you've hit upon a lot of the "pain points" of running an x95. Optics height... trigger shoe... and your middle finger bearing the weight and sliding up are not frequently mentioned during other reviews. Nicely put together video.

I picked up a black one a few months ago, and I quite like it! Mine is pretty much stock, with the IDF pistol grip (that cutlass/trigger guard rig on yours looks cool, BTW). I had a Manticore charging handle for a while, but went back to the stock item, both because it seems sturdier, but also provides a camming action to ensure bolt unlock, and a small button if a bit of forward assist is needed. With a Primary Arms 3x microprism on top, and I'm ready to go!

I bought my x95 for about $2,500 at the peak of the covid craze and I fell in love with it immediately when I first grabbed it off the wall at the gun store. The very first words I said were, "oh my God this is smaller the tiny AR pistols I've held before. It's like a submachine gun or something. I feel like I could shoot my hand off." I'm 6 ft 2 and 220 lbs so to me it felt like the micro tavor you see in video games. I can't imagine how small the actual micro tavor feels in comparison.

I love mine, I went with the BLK LBL handguard, much better than the Manticore, and feels great in the hands. I got the one with the bipod built in, just love it. I have the Manticore Overwatch top rail, as it allows you to "C" grip the gun better, as I don't use vertical grips. By the way the cutlass grip is not designed to grab with your non trigger hand, you actually "C" grip the handguard, and rest your upper arm just below the wrist on it to give you more contact points.

The after market for the X95 Tavor is excellent. I don't know if a BCM Gunfighter Grip Mod3 would fit on this rifle. For me, that would be great, as I like this grip on an AR platform...with a winter trigger guard. IWI should really look at the civilian market for this rifle. The Tavor7 has ambidextrous ejection ports that would be perfect for the X95. I'd also like to see true ambidextrous charging handles on either side. I'm a southpaw. It's a pain in the ass. One last thing. The body of the Tavor X95 would be so much nicer if they smoothed out the body of the rifle. The polymer is nice, but it doesn't need all the raised points. Especially at the selector switch. A Radian ambi-switch would be nice. The Manticore Cantilever Forend is a really nice addition and free floats the barrel. If IWI paid attention to all of this, they could/should have an updated bullpup that has all these features and a suppressed/unsuppressed switch would perfect this almost perfect bullpup rifle. An OSS Suppressor would assist in the gas ejection. IJS. I can dream...right?

I think you need some time on the X-95's predecessor, you can use your trigger hand to drop your mag by bumping the mag release with your thumb, you dont "have" to do the Israeli, "grip and rip" to remove a magazine.

I still own my Tavor sar 21. I too upgraded it with the Manticore pieces. I know the X95 is supposed to be an upgaded version but I don't see a compellig reason to replace my current Tavor. I did buy a Tavor TS-12 though (beast of a shotgun).

Thank you for watching. The Razer 1-10 is a 34mm tube, at the time this gun was built, there weren't many high cantilever mounts available. In the video, we are using a Warne 34mm mount and a ADM picatinny riser. There are plenty of 1.93" riser 34mm mounts out on the market now. Aero, Scalar, Geiselle etc.

Bought mine over a year ago...have been trying to get a parts kit since I bought the rifle. Have reached out to IWI twice to see when a parts kit will be available...they don't know. It's an awesome gun but there's no support for it. Broken firing pin, ejector, lose a tiny part while cleaning, you are fucked.
