Zastava M70 ZPAP scope mount for AK

This is a video of recent purchase of M70 scope mount. The mount is versatile and will handle an array of optics. This mount also has an additional small picatinny rail at an angle for flashlight or laser or secondary optic.
There were no instructions that came in the box but all you needed to know is have the lock in the forward position to slide on the rail and push it over to the back to lock it on the rail. Push in the lever on the very bottom and move the small dial in the '+' direction to increase the gap between top and bottom of the mount. If mount is loose on the rail move the dial towards the '-' to decrease the gap along the mount.
The sling is a 'Russian surplus AK sling' and looks great on this rifle. Use the sling to carry the rifle along the shoulder for quick draw when needed. The sling also reduces vertical rise of the rifle during firing if worn correctly.
AK ALL THE WAY

    Right now everything Zastava makes is top quality. I put a slip on recoil pad, hogue rubber grip, Zastava cheese grater upper handguard, and a VG6 epsilon muzzle brake on my M70 Z-pap. Much better controllability and less muzzle recoil and flash. Cheese grater drastically helps with heat build up. Still wear gloves though, lol. Have fun with that. Put red lock tite on the nut for the recoil spring button. Mine came off at around 3k rounds. I wasn't checking it.

    I would strongly disagree. Zastava makes fine quality rifles and pistol AK's arguably some of the best for under 2k easily. BUT The accessories they sell are sub contracted to UTG and UTG is not known to make the best parts out there by any measure. Basically, UTG is the NC Star of com block guns accessories. I cant speak on their handguards they sell, because I haven't tried them out, but I have had the scope mount. The scope mount does its job okay, but the problem with it is the construction itself. The locking bar is far to long and skinny and light weight to be any kind of durable. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to look at it and see that if that locking bar takes a hit on the right spot it will easily break. Which is exactly what happened to mine. Now it WILL hold zero. That's no problem. The problem is it isn't made to take abuse that would occur if it were used in the field. It is novelty grade. Civilian grade at best. the scope mount wouldnt last a second under any military qualifications testing. They are point blank to frail and once you damage the locking bars pivot point enough the scope mount is useless because it wont lock down, and all the inner workings are inside of the mount and you cant just get to them very easily to even try to fix the problem. If it werent for the locking bar, this would be a solid scope mount. Not Midwest industries quality or RS regulate for that matter but good 'nuff. Nd thats the thing, If you compare this scope mount to the Midwest industries or the RS you will see both have MUCH sturdier built locking levers. They're shorter, and just generally beefier set ups that can handle some abuse and hold zero just as well. You wont have to baby it as much. Look the scope mount might not be bad for civilian use from zastava. Your out playing around in your property popping shit whatever. My personal opinion is if my guns cant operate in shitty conditions where they will get abused and ill maintenance I don't want them. I dont want novelty guns and accessories. I want the real deal. battle proven shit. If this world ever collapses and were out surviving in the woods on minimal resources your little toy scope mount is going to be useless far sooner than my much better built mount will. Nd that shit matters.

    Great video on the subject. I watched some other similar videos about this mount, but none of them say or show if the Picatinny rail is centered over the receiver / bore. Some viewers have asked this question elsewhere, but I haven't seen any answers so far. I also noted the gap between the front end of the Picatinny rail and the rear iron sight. Two or perhaps even three more rail slots could have been added to the front end of the Picatinny rail to allow more length for a magnifier, and / or more flexibility in adjusting the eye relief distance. Marcus Tactical Solutions offer adjustable windage mounts with Picatinny rails that cover most of the receiver's length. Apart from the possibility to slide the Picatinny rail to perfectly center over the receiver, they have the additional & unique feature of being able to pivot the Picatinny rail to eliminate the misalignments between the side rail and the barrel. They come with an adjustment tool that allows for precise tuning of the point of impact on target and enables zeroing the scope with the reticle centered inside the tube, thus keeping the entire adjustment range of scope’s windage turret intact. They have different models that fit the Zastava (Yugo) AK, the standard AK, and the PSL rifles.

    Good info and thanks. It is over the center by the way. The bottom portion of the mount forms a V shaped opening and you can line up the sights to see it does Center but not enough visibility to co-witness. I just ordered a TWS Dog Leg Rail GEN III so that might be a better option.

    The 45 degree picatinny on the mount in the video could support a light but also check out Carolina Shooters Supply for hand guard replacements with picatinny or M-LOK hand guards. If you get a Zastava you need to ensure they state for "Yugo" AKs because they are a different size. Zastava sells an M70 Extended M-LOK hand guard but it is not cheap. • @404tactical7

    @404tactical7

    Жыл бұрын

    @mattyguitar9951- you could put a micro red dot there if you were also running a larger scope on the top at the same time or you could run a laser. With the scope mount on the left side of the rifle adding a red dot would only benefit a left-handed shooter. The shooter would generally rotate the rifle inward to view the optic through the 45-degree mount. The would be awkward to do for a righty IMO. I generally run a red dot on top or a 3x ACSS on my Zastava.

    depends on the optic you are running. A red dot is pretty easy to fit and use on the mount and no eye relief needed as long as you can see the dot through the glass. I started running a Primary Arms SLX 3x microprism. That has a 2.7" eye relief, and I used a large riser so my head wasn't turned sideways. I installed this optic on a crossman 760 air rifle.I have now shot the riffle around 500 times during target/plinking practice, and the kzread.infoUgkxc4K63Fd5LglDMObu7-Bgapxp_ef0W8hE scope has done well.With this optic, I have neutralized around 30 pigeons that were invading one of my buildings.For my short range air rifle, I will continue to use this scope, but will be upgrading to a more powerful scope, when I buy a more powerful air rifle, in order to shoot at longer distance.For the money I have spent, this scope has truly been a great buy.

    I sighted in the optic I use now with the high riser when I first got my Primary Arms Slx 3x reticle but have since removed all risers. For the price and quality, I think it was the best option. Thanks for the feedback. Hope it work well for you.

    I guess you’re American so a question for you, can I purchase this rail and scope plus any muzzle break and take it back with me on a flight to Pakistan? Heard you got some new IAR or IRA etc etc laws under sleepy Joe? Thanks

    check with the airlines before you leave. you may just have to check it in and stow it with the rest of the luggage. By nature the parts are acceptable for travel. Cant speak to the different laws for the other countries. though- good luck. International shipping may be available as well.

    Yep, on the Zastava USA website it is currently $109 and $95 on Optics Planet but i believe it was higher when I purchased a few years ago. Thanks for the comments.
