    zappi all the way. It’s been doing all this stuff for years and has a solid UK team behind it.

    Zappi hub is now optional as the charger comes in a wi-fi version, which eliminates the need for the hub.

    It does. There’s a CT clamp meaning it will ramp up or down depending on use elsewhere

    I like the zappi (I don't have one) because I'm not reliant on an app. It has controls on the box. My phone/router/internet connection dies, I can still charge my car.

    What's stopping randoms from charging their car while you're out? like a dodgy local who knows when you're out? but agree with the features on Zappi.

    I am doing research into getting a decent charger, hypervolt lit up at night may attract unwanted attention from theives. The zappi is also available in white by the way. Nothing is going to remain clean in our UK weather, eventually the insects will invade and the sun and rain will weather it down. Are pikeys still cutting tethered cables for the copper and how easy is it for someone to open and remove the unit, are there any theft deterent screws?

    I've been looking at both for an MG5 EV arriving in September - seems to be more installers for Zappi in West of Scotland than Hypervolt which may influence my decision, otherwise I was slightly swaying towards Hypervolt. Availability may becomes an issue too. Both look very good though.

    These aren't really chargers, the chargers are actually on the car and these feed electrons to the charger so the speed of charge will depend on the speed of the charger in the car

  • @jaymrree839

    @jaymrree839

    Жыл бұрын

    The Max feed is below 7.5kwh, this is because your home is feeding power in DC format, which is deliberately capped. Your car automatically knows this and blocks itself from accepting a higher rate. So it doesn't matter which car you use, it won't accept a higher rate. Some older homes can allow upto 11-22kwh based on their 3-Phase setup, which allows more power through. Practically most homes are single Phase and capped. AC chargers you see at petrol stations can generate higher rate feeds, which is why cars can still accept upto 100kwh or more.

  • @jaymrree839

    @jaymrree839

    Жыл бұрын

    No, it has no other option right now, but at the price it's fine tethered. Just wrap the cable around the unit, as there's enough space for a cable length up to 7m. You can choose which length cable you need.

    I like the hypervolt so far, the only 'big thing' which I like the Zappi for better is the user display. So e.g. a visitor could see how their car is charging without needing to be given access to the app. Also, what happens if the app is down? If MyEnergi integrated their hub within the Zappi or the Eddi, it would remove all the faffing about, and the built-in controls might occasionally save the day if you're internet connection is down. Hypervolt - easiest by far, but risky over-reliance on the app and the user being web connected. The "apple" version of e.v. chargers Zappi - really good, but the connected side is 'clumsy' and needs work on the integration - would still be my first choice mainly because of that onboard display and controls.

    Thanks so much for your comment! If the app is down simply pull the power cable out of the hub and wait 5 seconds and replug! If that doesn't work, contact myenergi!

    I did think he fudged that somewhat. The fact that you have to buy an extra piece of kit to make the Zappi work not only adds to the cost but it’s more “stuff” in the house - a big minus point for the Zappi in my opinion. I also felt introducing the Eddi was a massive red herring. If you want to heat hot water from solar, there’s nothing stopping you having an Eddi as well as a Hypervolt to charge your car.

  • @jaymrree839

    @jaymrree839

    Yes, but put a screen on the device and let it work without the App. Throw an access fob(s) in for a all-around class leading charger. I'm only going for the Zappi because I can use it without the App, but I really wanted the Hypervolt. Make my dream version and I'll never go with anyone else ;)

  • @jaymrree839
    @jaymrree839 Жыл бұрын

    Either is fine for me, but how come companies aren't providing security features, the last thing you want is to go away for a week and random ppl start charging their cars. A simple fob feature or card reader would be perfect. Hypervolt also needs a screen because you need a means to work the unit without the App. Once the broadband goes down, I assume the hypervolt goes stops working but the Zappi would keep going?
