The Economic Conscious Creators is recruiting this young champ.
Good one. Thank You Guys. 👌👏
Future looks bright..
I like this guy. I am also an "Austrian " in terms of economic schools. Mike, bring more guys like this to the SoN to balance out the narrative on other platforms. Nonetheless, I do think is Zak is somewhat naive, but big picture? - I like him. 👍
Red tape ... God help you if you want to pay a domestic helper more than R8000 per month , you will acquire all the administrative overheads of a major employer like Checkers or Spar . You will spend your days working for SARS and UIF . You will discover that its easier just to clean your own kitchen and "let your helper go" .
IT IS PLAIN SIMPLE…! YOU NEED TO HAVE AN COMPETITIVE ECONOMY JUST LIKE THE NETHERLANDS, DENMARK, SWITZERLAND, SINGAPORE AND IRELAND IT IS SIMPLE !
Thank you
A perfect example of "get out" cast
People are not dyint because of a concept called utonomous consumption; it is never zero because people have to consume something at minimum and that's not because they are generating income of they're own, it is because they rely on other people to assist them... be it family, friends etc. Hence, the government comes in to take that responsibility, give them a bit of money to increase demand, as they too become potential customers for business.
Yea Zakhele lacks some understanding around the historical context of how some of these Monopolies in SA were created because it is these very monopolies now who become gatekeepers blocking new small upcomers and entrance into the market... ... I argue that sa problem is the large monopolies and oligopolies that control massive chuncks of the market which mostly came to be as a result of government protections and assistances. This is not even just an apartheid thing you see it with the protections our government jist offered to the retail stores by increasing tarrifs on imports from stores like Temu etc. ... These block SA companies from seriously competing and innovating allowing them to remain big and eventually developing an almost too big to fail approach as some of the largest employers in the country. I agree in that maybe we should make it alil easier to hire and fire and remove some protections for some business as well as split these massive monopolies we have. Then you will see a more competitive market space develop with more newer business coming to the fold
Zakhele Mthembu makes sense while South Africa increases the size of it's already bloated state. Some paraphrases from Regan seem appropriate here - "In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem."
Alas Thomas Sowell - Vision of the Annointed.
On the land issue .... As much as all of us are aware of the clear requirement of "protected property rights" for an nation hoping for economic prosperity we cant overlook the unfairness under which they were acquired... I mean you can't steal from me and then tell me we need to protect peoples rights to their property while counting stolen property as your own. Its an almost impossible conundrum in that the markets react negatively when you threaten property rights which is what would happen should any expropriation move take place.... My view has always been somewhat in line with the idea that " productive land should not be touched" but at the same time i believe a land tax on idle land should be imposed. If you want to own large acres of land for investment purposes you should pay for the privilege. In that way you are feeding into the tx base funds which could be used to further benefit the country. In that way we maintain property rights and ensure all land is productive.
There can never be a free market with a massive governent spending !!!
Please explain to me how everything under the NP and the ANC are the same? Explain how all SOE's were bankrupt and ineffective, the value of the R, price of imports etc.
They got a legal researcher mumbling mediocre economics. Pathetic
I feel sorry for this lad. Economics is reality buddy not a stance.
I don't understand where the rule of law fits in libertarian theory.
Government plans = If I work hard and live a frugal life and brush my teeth every day , I will be rich ... I brushed my teeth every day for 10 years , why am I not rich ?
When the 1913 Land Act came into being, the South African black population were around 3 million & dispersed mainly in their Traditional Areas, how & to whom do you now make claims, when the population has dispersed to where the economic growth areas are and have increased by around 50 million? ...does Land in fact guatantee prosperity, given that 60% of South Africa is dry and inhospitable? It cannot simply be mathematical. Each Tribal Group in SA had & still do have their Traditional Land! Is our population growth being responsible by responsible citizens? Is it responsible not to do anything about Family Planning in South Africa and across the Developing World?
