Visual, mastery however in my opinion Zack needs to start leaning into good writers so the story is not missed. This is only my opinion, MOS, BVS Ultimate Edition and Justice League Synder cut, are for me; the greatest comic book trilogy ever made, if he gets the opportunity to conclude his story on Netflix I will be there with bells on. Rebel moon is a 4 out of 5 for me, Act 1 really strong, Act 2 Meh, Act 3 finishes strong but a couple of minutes after it should have in my opinion. Too much Slow mo in this one, needed to let it flow a bit more but overall a good original movie and look forward to extended cut and Part 2.

I've enjoyed it and I agree with you about character development and it makes me think about other productions which didn't have the possibility of a director oriented version. We can see through this movie how studios can ruin their own movies. And we have to agree this is far better than what Star Wars have been doing on the big screen.

I can't agree with you on that - I think with the Star Wars sequels, whatever you think about the stories, at least you feel SOMEthing about the characters, whether it be disappointment that they felt shortchanged, or frustration about where they took the characters...with Rebel Moon, for all but one character, I felt nothing. I feel like that's worse. I think this is a situation where it's less about meddling - it's where the marketing of the idea took precedent over very simply telling a good story with characters that you could get behind. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@order42show We barely had the full movie. It's split in two. And I was involved with the main characters, the robot but the other ones lacked development. What didn't take me off the experience I can tell you. With Star Wars I didn't feel the same. The main character is bland, the story didn't get me engaged and the only great idea, Finn, was wasted. I've watched the second and after that I knew it wasn't for me. After the success of Rebel Moon's R-Rated version, maybe the studios will trust a little bit more in their directors. Having said that, "Rogue One" is amazing! My favorite Star Wars movie.

I get what you're saying - but after the first 45 minutes, I was sort of already turned off of this one. The characters were just paper-thin, and we were supposed to start getting attached to them, but I felt nothing. With this, it was planned from the beginning - Netflix wanted a PG-13 version alongside his "no holds-barred, R-Rated" version. This was a marketing stunt, no question - it gets people to sign up for Netflix for more months. The problem is that Snyder either 1. didn't plan correctly for the cut-down PG-13 version (like maybe some of the characterization is too R-rated) or 2. can't write characters correctly in the first place. We'll see, but this, unfortunately, does not give me a lot of hope, and this is coming from someone who is always rooting for Zack!

He’s made a few that I didn’t like, but I do like his visual style. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It's amazing how much love this movie is getting on Rotten Tomatoes by users. I really didn't care for it. The backstory hugely outweighs the plot. I really didn't like the collection of new characters, who are each given very little introduction. We as an audience are given no reason to care for them.

Absolutely! Most knew this would happen - and you know, I wish I felt the same way, but yeah, just didn’t work for me.

I really can't wait for the director's cut of Napoleon (and Last Duel)! I just hope it has more Austrians, Prussians, Russians, and British getting owned, and not just more of Napoleon getting cucked by Josephine!

@@order42show Probably so that it could go to theaters. A 4 hour+ movie isn't going to do well at the theater. I suspect that Apple backed Napoleon knowing that people would get Apple+ to see the extended version, even if the theatrical release didn't do well and lost money. I for one will probably get Apple+ cause of the director's cut of Napoleon, in addition to being able to watch Masters of the Air, when that comes out.

In much the same way that I can go look at a painting or piece of digital art and appreciate it without needing to know the story behind the people in the painting, I can watch a Zach Snyder film and appreciate the visual style and the action without needing an award-winning story. I can’t fault anyone who criticizes this movie, but I still enjoyed watching it.
