I’ve watched this Edey kid for years. He’s got heart. He’s smart. Very coachable. His skill level has been increasing tremendously year to year. There is a spot for him in the NBA. What will make or break him in the NBA is the coaching and mentors he gets. If he ends up with duds well that’s all she wrote.

The key for Edey is he constantly seeks out and embraces contact, lot of soft players in NBA today might struggle with him.

Edey will have to develop more skills other than “I’m big so I turn around and shoot layup”

he has very soft touch with his hook shot. he gonna have to develop a 3 point shot to make up for value loss on the defensive side.

Absolutely true, but when you consider this is his 7th year of organized basketball and look at how much he’s improved from 2 years ago, I think he absolutely will continue to develop those skills and improve

Nothing against Edey but he will not make it long term in the NBA outside of a backup center role. He will be a defensive liability against almost all centers/pfs with any skill or quickness and his offensive game is super limited

@@alloneword154 I’ve seen Clingan as high as 5th overall. And it makes no sense. Although thankfully the pundits are finally starting to come around on Edey, ESPN now has him at 14 and the Ringer at 12.

Maybe Edey can learn to shoot 3s. It will prolong his career.

I think Edey could be a Zubac -- I don't think he'll be an absolute bust like everyone is saying

I wish the Lakers would draft Edey and start him next to AD.

Except Edey is light years better than Tacko. Tacko was a good player in the AAC, Edey is the two time national player of the year and one of the most decorated bigs of the last 25+ years. Not really a comparison.

Embiid is a career 83% from the ft line, n he gets there a lot. So big guys can shoot good from ft and If a big guy can get to the line a lot like this kid can he could be viable.

Shaq was the last true post up guy that won a ring. Jokic embiid Giannis and Davis all provide something outside of pure post ups and Edey doesn’t really do that. He could have a long career but it won’t be as dominate as the elite bigs he’s being mentioned with here

AD and most Laker fans are still clamoring for AD to play the 4 and pair him with a floor spacing 5.. or even a traditional 5.

you can not compare zach edey to jokic, giannis, or embiid he doesn’t have any of the other skills that those guys have that seperate themselves over other bigs

This guy can play. There's no way this kid can't do what Zubach is doing every night. That's 15 and 10. Tim Duncan was slow and clunky too, Always the last one up the court. I think he turned out okay. This kids won't be that, but he can find a place.

Maybe he can get too a sort of prime Brook Lopez but well see. He as of right now has not outside game meaning 18 feet from the basket or more.

The NBA is boring with small ball and 3 points shots. This has been the best NCAA basketball in a long time. Bigs with traditional point guards. The NBA needs to slow the game down that is why the numbers are down. By the 3 quarter some team has shot 40 3 pointers points and they are by 20 points.

Except it will still happen. Edey will still be by far the biggest player every single night in the NBA. Plenty of teams like to put a 6-9 or 6-10 guy at center nowadays. Heck Draymond is only 6-7 and plays the 5 in spurts.

@@jordanblarson Look at what he did when he was playing against Kofi Cockburn and Hunter Dickinson at Illinois and Michigan. Dickinson is bigger than most NBA bigs and Cockburn is bigger and stronger than almost all of them and Edey still produced.

Hartenstein, Sengun, and Lively? Wipe the floor with Edey? Give me a break. We are talking about one of the most dominant and decorated college bigs of all time. He may not match up well against some of the guys who can shoot like Kat or Wemby but most don't. He won't have to worry about Giannis as they don't play the same position.

Colin’s lack of Basketball IQ is showing here. I watched that whole game, and while his numbers were good, he was slow footed and beaten at the rim on the defensive end many times by Tennessee. While he has been dominant in college, with the athleticism and skills of the bigs in the nba, I think he would be the definition of big for nothing. Think Boban Marjanovich, while we all fans of Bobi, he’s more entertainment and locker room value than on the court value. That’s Edey in my opinion.
