On a beautiful late summer day I cycled from Purmerend to Zaanse Schans approaching the village from the North along the river Zaan. First thing we see are the Windmills which form a fantastic Industrial Heritage Park along the river. Then we enter the village with some excellent examples of regional architecture from the last few hundred years. Amongst which a house built by Czar Peter the Great and the very first Albert Heijn Grocery Store. A must see for all. Check out the impressive skies and interaction with the river. Enjoy!
