the bizarre reason why finland is the happiest country
As Monthy Python used to say: Finland , Finland , Finland The country where I quite want to be!
Growing up in Finland, and since then living in 9 other countries, I feel like I have a decent perspective on the good, the bad, and the ugly about Finland. It's definitely a great place, but the reasons for it being the happiest country in the world six years in a row might surprise you...
By watching this video I'll explain 5 reasons why I think Finns are so happy (that you can also apply to your own life) and 5 negative things nobody ever seems to mention in these conversations.

I'm an army Brat of the US Army... my dad was a soldier and my family were moved to many parts to serve in Europe... at first it's scary but after you start making friends and getting to know the Europeans you will find they are not only just like you on Important issues but also, " home, family structure, work, a he shed or she shed, fishing and hunting, woodworking and the list just goes on... so much more undifferentiated than you could ever expect ... Trust me, that's why military Brats like me have best friends overseas that we keep in touch with and love dearly..

Humor like 13:59 how many babies does it take to paint a barn? Depends on how hard you throw them. Or like. If reincarnation comes after death then at birth you could be thousands of years old so if someone who's reborn having lived thousands of years is. "mole sted" by an adult who's only lived a total of 45 years then who actually "graped" or would the definitions be changed up so that "mole sted" more specifically is referring to the age of the body your spirit is in.

Finns, hear me out. Our brains go through a rinse cycle that clears up the metawaste of the day: a cerebralspinal fluid, but the cycle happens when we're asleep. Harvard says five hours of sleep in every twenty-four hours, Stanford says four, but this finn just told me that y'all have a coffee situation. Switch to dandelion root tea; dandelion is high in b vitamins and b vitamins can provide essential energy. Now Finland has THE highest dementia mortality rate in the world. That's all very natural. Y'all need to stop lining up to go insane with dingy a teeth.
From Alaska, I see many similarities. I’m thinking the happiness poll was taken in June.
I used to drink about 12 cups of coffee a day back in college but now that I live in the Pacific Northwest, where Starbucks reigns supreme, I drink more tea.
I really appreciate your honesty about all aspects of Finnish life
Also of course they're happier than everyone else. No matter what happens, right from the start they know they've already reached the Finnish line. 😂
Thank you, Tero.
Finns live in a racially, ethnically, & culturally homogeneous nation. That's why they're so happy in their indigenous homeland.
I would add one more item to the list. It appears to me you pay high taxes and get high value from your government. Imagine if the US government was as responsible and we got high value for taxes paid. A major source of USA unhappiness is the high taxes and then the money just gets ripped off

There are 5.5 million people in Finland. It's much easier for such small countries made up of one culture to operate socialist societies . None of their policies transfer well to the US. Not to mention how our tax dollars are spread around the world . We would have to be isolationist if we even made small attempts to take care of our own properly.

@@Brad-pc3biusually a house and car is financed and carries very long term debt. If you incorporate yourself in the states you get tax breaks etc and incentives to claim back what you lost. It’s kinda crazy actually which is why these corporations are running wild af. Problem is there’s no system designed to teach the people how to not be poor

I see parallels with the state I live in which is Alaska not a lot of light in the winter and when we do get long days everyone is out however we've become such a tourist state it saddens me. I love the Finnish people because you guys are so crazy your music is off the wall and I love it your race car drivers are totally badass I love you to watch the races that you guys do up the volcanoes😂😂😂 and you guys just do the craziest things in the summer and that's what we do. We have a short summer so we've got to get out there and do stuff I've always loved the Finnish people and whenever I've met one they are so kind and the parallels between the dark humor yes that's totally me

Hi, So just came across your channel and kinda like what I hear and whould like to know more about what your about. As far as Finnish people go i have always been intrigued with the peoples of the high northern countries. Personally even though i am a major depressive person, an the darkness u live with up there seasonally, that kind of darkness has never really bothered me. In fact i like and seam to function better at nite. Is that wierd ? I hope not. So anyway like I stated I would like to know more about what your about. Look forward to hearing from U. Thanks Mike D. Ps. I wish the US Government would take a few, a lot, of pages out of the playbook that the Northern countries operate out of. Havening lived in the US for 1/2 your life what do u think about that ? Also y did you chose to settle here after having traveled around , y did u pick the US to settle in ? 😃♻️🇺🇲

I think being a night owl is not weird at all. Many people operate better then when things get quiet. But obviously a 3-month long seasonal darkness is another beast to experience. And yeah the US could learn a lot from Finland. And Finns could learn about the American culture on entrepreneurship and work ethic. Finns think they work really hard (maybe our grand parents actually did) but in reality Finns work very little and take very little risks. I prefer the American work ethic and business acumen.

It's actually not the Wild West. It's much worse than that because in the Wild West people were allowed to live in tents with out worrying about anyone coming along and stealing or the police coming along and destroying everything you own. My great aunt and uncle living in a tent during world war two. They moved to help with the war effort and there wasn't enough housing. So many people lived in tents for a while. Again they didn't have to worry about being stolen from or the police coming in

As a kid growing up in the upper Midwest I was brought up to believe Finns were strange . The only Finns I knew of lived way out from town in a very closed community. I remember that when a kid would reach 12 their family would take them to town on a shopping trip and abandon them. I remember my mom's best friend a Russian was married to a Finn from that community. They had separate bedrooms and rarely spoke to each other.
