    Bang on Billy! all information on this beautiful Piece of Japanese Automotive Engineering called the Nissan Fairlady 300ZX or Z32! I have a fully Restored 91 TT 2+0 Slicktop. It was expensive! I spent 40K NZD this is total amount including exchange rates, Shipping and Import Taxes No Z32 Specialests here in NZ so took multiple revisits Mechanically and in the Paint Process lets Just say Restoring my Z32 Slick Top had me near Chewing on Crayons took a decade to complete! She will get her WOF and Rego in a few days time. all the issues mentioned in this Vlog have been rectified down to the Tee and then some, The rubber factory Spoiler Splits over time and Inevitably obsorbs moisture which in turn Rusts out the Rear Hatch and finding a replacement was a mission and a Half especially for a 2+0 model Z32. I have owned my 1991 Z32 for 25 years or since 1999 yes in my humble opinion it is without a doubt the best Motor vehicle I have every owned by a long shot as they really do look as good as they Drive the Driver Experience is second to none! However there is a Hefty Price to pay owning and maintaining these beautiful Vehicles! my advice to anyone that is looking for one and expecting to find a good reliable one would be likened to finding a Hen with Teeth these Vehicles are extreamly expensive and involves a whole heap of Man Hours to restore Parts are becoming harder & Harder to find therefore more and more expensive and Time consuming to restore and not having any Savings put aside for Maintenance and up keep being Extreamly important to stay on top of with these Vehicles you would be better advised to steer clear of the Z32 TT. they are over 30 years old and more than likely will need to spend at least 20k + to get them back into shape unless of course you do as Billy Say's get all invoices of Work done put it up on a hoist, have someone that know's these Cars check everything out touroughly! these are Labour intensive Vehicles and many parts are now discontinued! but well worth it once they are brought back to life best of luck!

    Excellent video! thank you, new to site, am original owner of '91 NA t-top manual, cloth int.. 108k miles now, Red, luv the comments from people who are not familiar with Z's, mostly stock, upgrades chip in comp, air intake, exhaust, most important skyline brakes/silicon fluid, tokiko adj shocks, did autocross, club tracking Lime Rock and Pocono infield/banking course (boiled power steering fluid 10 laps), biggest regret not having separate set of track tires, good street tires get greasy after a few laps, important to have support of local Z Clubs (mine is CTZCC in CT USA online 6-700 members). Will offer my ownership experience in near future after gathering my bits. Still love driving my Z everytime I get in, doesn't feel old.

    exactly the video i was looking for. we have a few being sold here in my country and the parts availability would only be through ebay or websites from usa. the only thing that bothers me is that the ones for sale on the fb marketplace would be RHD converted to LHD but the pods aren't. like the A/C switch would be on the left. it would be hard to check for damages on a converted car and it's the only thing keeping me from buying this beauty. 😥

    I may have missed it, but can you engine swap an NA to TT without changing the transmission? Are the two (manual) transmissions the same over both engines?

  • @Billy_Built

    @Billy_Built

    6 ай бұрын

    Transmissions from either engine will bolt up. The difference is in the bell housing size for the flywheel. The flywheels between the two motors are different sizes, and the bellhousing accommodates for this.

    In 4 years of ownership the only issues I’ve had is leaking valve covers at the rear, bad center bushing on the driveshaft, and knock sensor throwing a code. Also, mine is a 96 with OBD2 which I don’t think was discussed. We lose VTC, heater mirrors, and bolster seat adjustment. But we gain all the improvements, newest/by far the rarest, and OBD2! Which is great except for piggy back ecu options.

    As someone that wants to buy one of these and keep it mostly stock, how reliable are these cars? I'm planning to buy one in a few years (they are sadly moderately rare here in the EU) and try to maintain it myself. I have never worked on cars before but I have plenty of time and patience to work on it (I also don't need a car for work so it doesn't matter if its not drivable for a while). How hard do you think it will be to just keep this thing on the road in stock condition, and would you opt for an NA or TT if speed isn't really a concern. I just really love the look of these cars.

  • @Billy_Built

    If it's been well maintained, it shouldn't be a problem. But I do suggest finding someone in your area who is familiar with these cars. However the same could be said for any performance vehicle from this era.
