My God I didn't know she did this song! This song was made for her; It's hers all the way.. Good God What a Commanding Voice. I just close my eyes and let it take me all the way to Heaven.

I fell in love with Yvonne Elliman's voice when she played Mary Magdeline in _Jesus Christ, Superstar._ Technically top-notch but has this element of emotion that is altogether serene yet a pain and anxiety that is palpable. It hit me in the feels when she sang "I Don't Know How to Love Him." Clapton always loved her voice and collaborated with her on a bevy of songs and albums. Not surprised; she's a rare talent. She ran into some trouble a few years ago and on one level I was a little disappointed because it seemed so out of character; but we all have our screw-ups at some point or another; I've had my share, so it's all a function of how and whether you pick yourself back up and dust yourself off and get back in the saddle. Sounds like she's done that, so it's all good. Still admire her talent.

I'm guessing that many don't know there is a wealth of Yvonne Elliman material on You Tube. She's amazing!

Not much of a guitarist. Absolutely wonderful singer though. Heck of a nice solo from George Terry over there, too. Would’ve been nice of Eric to sit in on guitar on this one. Think he might’ve been familiar with it.

I remember seeing Jesus Christ Superstar in Portland Oregon---fell in love with Yvonne's voice. So rich and deep.

The Bee Gees brought me here. Yvonne was on their Chicago Soundstage concert and sang this. Epic. And! Sang To Love Somebody with The Brothers Gibb. So good!

Saw Yvonne in October 2014 performing Mary Magdalene in JCS (with Ted Neeley and Barry Dennen from the original cast). I met her after the show and told her how beautiful her version of this song is. She was really happy about that (I realized that most of the people know her for JCS and Saturday Night Fever only).

Hey Lisa - yes I saw the same performance as part that 1977 world tour(in Newcastle Upon Tyne UK) - it's also stayed with me for 40 years! Doesn't this video just bring it back! If you watch the full video it's pretty much his stage concert. All the best Paul aleph54 - sure the Old Grey Whistle Test was a very popular late night rock show on British TV in the 70's and 80's

Yvonne Elliman is such a great talent. To me, this is also one of Eric's best concerts, even though she was not in great shape with one thing and another. Stevie Windwood who wrote it was on good form when he wrote this great song. Love the way he get's her name wrong!

so here i sit, taking chrome for a test spin, and i couldn't think of anything i wanted to see or hear more than Yvonne sing this tune. she has such a powerful voice in the range of this song, i find it most impressive and relaxing. Clapton outdid himself on the intro... truly good entertainment in a way we just cant find (easily) these days. thanks for the post.

Can't believe I managed to see this lineup full concert in the Gourmont Theatre in Southampton U.K. - Had to pay £3 for a ticket 😎 was stunning concert - same tour as EC was Here album.

So good. I remember the first time I heard her sing on the Jesus Christ Superstar soundtrack, which I still have, song book included. Looove this song, loved it when Winwood sang it, when Clapton sings it.. it's timeless.

In my opinion this was Clapton's finest band as a solo artist.

Clapton has said that these years are a mystery to him. He doesn't even remember doing the Old Grey Whistle Test. Amazing he could still play so well though.
