One of the common engine codes is the P0455 which means there’s a pressure problem with your EVAP system.
It can be caused by:
*Forgot to put the Gas Cap back on
*A leaking seal on your Gas Cap
*A dirty seal on your gas cap
*A worn out EVAP purge valve solenoid
For this 2004 GMC Yukon when I removed the Gas Cap, I heard a loud whooshing sound and smelled raw gas as gas vapor came out of the tank. I knew the gas cap seal was ok because it was holding back the vapor pressure of the gas fumes. I knew I’d need to change the EVAP purge valve solenoid because it had stopped opening to allow gas tank fumes to enter the combustion chamber to be burned off.
This is an easy procedure to change out your purge valve solenoid:
Just need an 8mm socket and about 10 minutes.
This works for:
GMC YUKON
GMC DENALI
CHEVY TAHOE
CHEVY SILVERADO

Thank you for the video, very helpful. I didn’t see the link to the valve anywhere in your description. In your video you said to clean the valve for a “quick” fix…what do you suggest to clean it with?
