The answer is simple; he weathered the pain through sheer will and self control. He felt all of it, and it was from Baki, that shit fucking hurt. BUT the point of this wasn’t to show Yujiro feels no pain, it was to show that pain can’t overpower him.

Okay so for people who think it's super complicated, it's easier to explain like this. Have you guys ever had like a painful moment, like persay, you stub your toe, or get impaled by something needle, tack or something like that that causes minor but painful injury, but end up clenching or stabbing your own nails around that area, and tense up your muscles to feel more stuff elsewhere then the afflicted area? It's essentially the same thing he's doing here, just on a much... crazier scale. The simplest way to put is like fighting fire with fire... you suppress pain with pain.

This is exactly how I feel when my girlfriend punches my arm but I can’t let her know that it actually hurt.

Fun fact: this is a legitimate martial arts technique (but not as over the top as this). You use the adrenaline gained from the blow to overpower the nerve's pain receptors. In other words you use it to burn off signals being sent to the brain. This requires HUGE amounts of concentration and only works on non fatal/minor blows. You cant do this on something like a throat punch or liver shot. But a punch to the face or a slap to the chest its entirely doable

I think the narrator has a really weird definition of what counts as a neutral expression. A whole body clench that leaves massive veins popping out all over your entire body as you repress the urge to scream in pain is not neutral just because your lips didn't move.
