Rachmaninov drains her deepest emotion she throws as each of us with the force of a tsunami. She is magnificent, she pulls tears out of my eyes. Thank god for this present, for the deep Slavian soul of Rachmaninov and for the celestial beauty of Yuja.

I agree tha the Rach 3 is considered the Mount Everest of all the piano concertos for his beauty but mainly for his difficulty, but Yuja with this performance she is flying well above this Mountain!! What a talent what a beauty a pure genius!!

At the tempo Yunga Wang plays it, it's unimaginably difficult. Is there a slower version? I want to hear the notes

It's said that Chopin could get the most out of a piano that a piano could possibly give, but Rachmaninoff might have come along after that. And Yuja Wang delivers his full power. She is one of the wonders.

Chopin died very young however, like what Paganini did for the violin, Chopin intellectualized the piano, producing a different sound that was never heard before.

There has never been a pianist who could touch the keys so softly when pianissimo is called for it. I've listened to all the others, and in my opinion she is the greatest we have ever been blessed to have had. Mr. Chung is a wonderful conductor never allowing the orchestra to drown out the piano unlike so many other conductors.

I couldn't agree with you more. This is the best performance of Rachmaninoff No.3 I have ever listed to, even preferable to Marhta's performances for this piece. Bravo Ms Yuja Conductor too is brilliant, I like to know who he is. Excellent balance of the orchestra instruments, beautiful

So much more improvement now in the past few yrs, so much more emotionally focused and intense in her playing! Bravi. One of the best ending of this concerto, did she almost break down in tears right towards the end?

She's the only one who can make the piano whisper. Even softer than Gilels my usual go to for dynamic range and subtlety. Part of her musicality is her ability to listen to her orchestra and echoes the nuances she hears the time of performance. I think it's one of the reason she seems to keep the other players mesmerized when they don't have playing parts.

@@s.c.1494 Her expression of the passages is exemplary, crisp, clear, amazing colouring. Ms Yuja brings out Rachmaninoff's emotions and intentions by her interpretation of this concerto. We are truly blessed to be witnessing such a gifted pianist. At times you can observe that even the conductor is awed by her playing. Out of this world.

Ending is epic... 39:50 conductor smiles... 40:50 Yuya cries... 41:20 she wipes her tears... and final octaves!!! 👏👏👏👏👏

My heavens. Her technique at 24:29 at takes my breath away. Her technique throughout takes my breath away, but the control and precision here is just exquisite.

She has moments of incandescence but she is definitely well grounded in what makes this funny old world tick I feel.

I think its exciting that Yuja seems to be attracting a much younger Audience to the Classical Genre. No doubt she encourages aspiring Pianists and Musicians everywhere. She is definitely a Rock Star like no other!

Yup, I got interested in Classical cause of Yuja. Then slowly got in love with the Genre. Now I'm saving up to buy a piano of my own to start learning on :))

Wang Yuga is just heads above the others. A prodigy from Beijing who has reached the pinnacle of stardom through her dedication, extreme musical talents and efforts to entertain the world ❤ I consider her better than Lang Lang of China who very good.

It weren't tears, but with Yujas beautiful, intense expression, for me it looked and felt the same.

And to play so beautifully. ..Listening with headphones... There were moments when my eyes welled up.

LISTENING TO THIS PIECE AGAIN …….LIKE BREATHING FRESH AIR…JUST WONDERFUL

She can play just about everything Rachmaninoff composed.

Amazing! Yuja Wang is a real wonder! Wish I was there...

Yuja Wang is "magnifique!" One that gifted can move me to tears! However, Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto #3 does not have the pathos for me of #2, although it may be more technically difficult. Most of us experience depression at one time or another, and Rachmaninoff #2 remains one of the best remedies for depression.

This is my favorite concert since I was a child. This version has left me shaking and crying for over an hour. It's overwhelming. Thanks for sharing.

It was good to see the camera also on Yuja Wang's beautiful face and the emotions it reflects as she interacts with the music.

A magical performance. The best I've ever heard. Yuja is at her musical finest. The 1st Oboe and French Horn are absolutely phenomenal but the 1st and 3rd Cellists are super duper handsome !!!

Masterful rendition, the clarity of her playing perfectly delivers the melodic counterpoints of this piece that can be so easily become muddled by lesser musicians.

She is truly a world-class pianist. Quite enjoyable.

For me to witness this extraordinary performance and harmony of orchestra, Yuja and this most amazing conductor together, is a real treat. I wish I was there. More please.

Yuja brings out the best in the orchestra because they know she's working harder than all 80 of them put together.

She is not just a show-off pianist, but also an outstanding performer !

This by far is the best version of the Rock 3 concerto by YUJA WANG. Conducter is an ace.

Have heard Rach 3 so many times from diff pianists. This is the best for me. Yuja savors and brings out the beautiful melodies throughout the piece. She’s the best

Agree. Horowitz was my favorite for the Rach 3rd (with NY Philharmonic) until now. Yuja Wang adds something additional. Melody and nuance in the midst of blazing speed, power contrasting with delicacy. This was an experience.

Only Horowitz performance in 1999 with Zubin Mehta incomperable!! There is no one that could perform it. It takes Russian or Ukrainian Horowitz!! to perform it

OMG, masterpiece! Flabbergasted! Amazing rendition, Yuja is fabulous. I cried! And Maestro Chung leading the orchestra like a god, conducting with small gestures and with his soul. Fabulous!

I knew I should have kept that grand piano in the large home we sold a few years ago--but two flights of stairs were ahead of me!! Yuja Wang is superb. Planet earth is very fortunate to have such artistry alive now. Imagine if Sergei were alive today to hear her renditions.

Я бы не сказал блестяще. В 3 части барабанит, в стиле Мацуева. Второй концерт Рахманинова у нее получается намного лучше.

Yes, Yuja is a phenomenal pianist, but let’s just take a moment to acknowledge how gorgeous this woman is. Oh my.

The piano microphones outweigh the mics around the orchestra more here than in other Rach 3 recordings I know, but I like it. The piano is the star instrument, after all. Yuja certainly deserves the audio spotlight. If you give her your unbiased ears, she will through them touch your heart, no?

Such an achingly intense brutal beautifully glorious tender passionate , even , spiritual performance by Yuja Wang and the orchestra under conductor Chung . Rachmaninov has suddenly become one of my favorite composers - " modernism " elements of jazz and sound blocks, percussionistic. His Russian soul is so much in this Rhapsody. It's a bitch to play and Yuja is the one to play it, and I mean it as the highest compliment. It was spell binding!!!

Amazing, One of the best performances I've seen or heard and I've heard quite a few.

No words that are sufficient. I guess if they were, We would have no need for Rachmaninoff or Yuja Wang. Fortunately, We have both. Bravo!

So glad, playing with the renowned conductor, Jung, Myung Hoon, 정명훈 himself was award winning pianist in his earlier career. With his two other sisters, the Jung family is famous.

Brilliant! Ms. Wang is a rising star, as we can see here! Amazing to see that petite woman playing those "big fat chords," as the character in "Shine" called them, and that dazzling virtuoso passage at the end, when her hands were flying so fast they looked like humming-birds' wings. To steal a description from a classical music host on my local station, this concerto begins gently and ends with molten lava flying out of the piano.

The 26-year-old, Chinese-born pianist says there's something about the Rach 3 that reminds her of legendary improvisational jazz pianist Art Tatum. Wang says she's positive that Rachmaninov, a turn-of-the-last-century Russian composer, must have started out improvising alone at the keyboard the way a jazz musician might. 31:12 [NPR]
