They designate most of the episodes as being "for kids" But kids videos automatically have the comments on them turned off (due to a controversy in the past) So it's not exactly Konami's fault, however I definitely wish Konami stopped designating them as being "for kids"

@@philipinoboy1381 It's been a long time so I don't fully remember but I think it was about how some pervs were leaving very inappropriate comments on kids' videos so KZread got backlash for "not doing anything about it" So KZread panicked and just disabled comments for all kids' videos (which sounds dumb but how else are you gonna shut people up who don't understand technology and don't understand that it's practically impossible to prevent those comments without preventing other innocent comments)

This is definitely one of my favorite duels in the first season. It reminds me of how competitive and fun duels can be. Before all of this Pendulum, Link, and C Number nonsense with absurd one-turn kill potential.

Easily one of the bigger mistakes that GX made plot wise. It would've been interesting to see him actively get involved during the shadow rider arc and work with Alexis and Atticus to find the missing kids.

I feel like this Ep really proved that bastion has the iq in general but battle iq goes to jayden he’s too unpredictable

This episode proved Bastion is a retard: at 15:14 if Bastion had attacked Clayman (which has 800atk and was in attack mode) instead of Blade-edge, Jaden would have taken 2200 damage, but he only has 1800 life points. Bastion would have won if he had just done the math before attacking, and math is supposed to be Bastion's specialty! This episode did definitely not prove that Bastion is intelligent/math-wiz.

Jaden: saves the world on many different occasions through his good Dueling Also jaden: shows bastion his entire hand at 8:34

This was a really good duel.

One of my favorites of yugioh GX

The cards I like out of this duel is Elemental HERO Wildheart, Hyozanryu, Ring of Destruction, The Warrior Returning Alive, Pot of Greed, Double Spell, Spirit Barrier, Elemental HERO Bladedge, Emergency Provision

This episode was awesome, I love how Jaden had to find another way to win when his Fusion Monsters were shut down

It also highlights the core flaw in Bastion's strategies- he thinks that if he gets rid of one of his opponent's strengths, he can effectively shut down their entire deck. Unfortunately for him, he underestimated both Jaden's craftiness and how versatile the "Elemental Hero" archetype really is.

Imagine if Jaden already had his Elemental Hero Neos/Neo Spacian deck at this point - he’d have had an easier chance to win since he’d be able to fusion summon with the Neos Contact Fusion since they don’t require you to use Polymerisation. My theory is since he looked rather happy in my memories of Skyscraper, Gerard actually had a HERO deck himself, but since it was responsible for him quitting dueling, the field spell backfired on him somehow, by something like the opponent playing something that destroyed Spell cards and burning him, like Spell Shattering Arrow or Fairy Wind.

I like how Duel Academy is covering up missing students. But because of the duel this MONSTER of a scandal suddenly doesn’t matter

Jaden is one of the best duelist regardless being in the slifer dorm

I have no idea why I enjoy Chancellor Sheppard’s voice, but it fits him very well

They're all concerned about Jaden considering Bastion has thwarted Jaden's strategy to use fusion monsters since this is how Jaden wins all of his duels. But Jaden will turn the tide around and come back on top again, they'll see. Also, this will be the first time in his life that Jaden will win a duel without polymerization or fusion monsters

Even if he had that card, Jaden could just destroy it since it's a Continuous Trap. Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell prevents an opponent from using a card for the rest of the duel, and there's no way to undo it.

And even if he swapped it out for some reason why would he only include one card to allow him to fusion summon? I mean Jaden’s not exactly book smart but he’s not one to put all of his eggs in one basket, you know what I mean?

I remember watching this back in the day when id watch anime being going to school. When the previous episode aired and saw Jaiden lose his Polymerization card to his trap, I was so blown away because id have to wait till the next day to find out what happened. This series seriously got dark from season three onwards.

During the anime, Skyscraper worked in any battle, not just for the attacker.

If Bastion played ‘A wing beat of giant dragon’ before attacking, he would have destroyed skyscraper, and therefore removed the attack point bonus it gives (which in the anime, is a constant effect) he would have won. He could have attacked clayman with litmus swordsman and that would have reduced Jaden’s life points to 0. But hey, the main character can’t lose, right 😂

He cant, if he did that is Litmus swordsman would have 0 atk points, because it gains 3000 as long as a trap card is on the field, if he did activate wingbeat he would have destroyed the trap card that he equipped to blade edge,so is swordsman would have gone back to 0

Bastion focused so much on neutralising and countering Jaden's strategy that he didn't quite develop a formidable and solid strategy himself.

Honestly, creating a counter strategy to your opponents deck is the way to go.

I've been playing a lot of GX academy lately on rom, and I never really got into yugioh when I was younger, but it's crazy how closely this anime follows the game, or vice versa. The game centers around these characters and the duel academy, their actual decks are used in the game, and for me, the most annoying duelist has to be the headmaster. He uses flip effect cards like maneater bug, penguin soldier, and hane hane. Which for my ritual deck is annoying. There's nothing worst than tributing 8 level monsters to summon one 8 star that then gets returned to my hand, or ob!iterated, after an monsters flip effect. I guess it's good I use several rituals and ritual monsters, but none of these guys are that hard to fight. Jaden for example, just use a decent amount of spell destroying spells and traps and he's a piece of cake. Zane is pretty tough but it's essentially the same strategy as jaden, only, zane his powerbond limiter removal combo is deadly if he uses it on cyberend dragon. However, only one trap, like an sakuretsu armor, can change that too.

I Was Hoping To See TMNT (2003) Have A Crossover With Yu-Gi-Oh! GX

A dragunity Deck can easily take out Bastion. True, it has its weaknesses, but Dragunity has ways of dealing with cards that weaken it, like Debunk and Mind Drain.

This is one of the more unique duels in the series. It's a shame what comes in the next seasons for Bastion

I feel like there's some irony in the difference between Jaden and Bastion's duel in the anime vs. their duel in the manga spin-off that came years later. In both Bastion came up with a strategy to keep Jaden from using fusions, but in the anime Bastion only keeps Jaden from using specifically Polymerization. Jaden could still have used Fusion Gate or other fusion cards. In the manga, Bastion used cards that prevented Jaden from sending cards from the hand and/or field to the graveyard by methods other than battle, effectively locking down the majority of ways to fuse monsters. So, in the anime, Jaden has many ways he can still fusion summon but wins without it, while in the manga Jaden has almost no ways of fusion summoning but still wins by fusion summoning, just not with monsters in his hand or field.

He has Fire Dragon in his deck but for some reason the writers can't seem to be very consistent 😢

Yeah well, Fire Dragon isn't even a real monster so that's kind of irrelevant. But the reason why Bastion would be a terrifying Duelist with either, or even better BOTH cards, is that he can special summon them on Jaden's side of the field using Jaden's monsters as tributes by giving up his ability to Normal Summon for one turn. And since both Lava Golem and Volcanic Queen are Fire Attribute and Pyro-Type monsters their ATK would become 0 due to Water Dragon's effect. Even without Water Dragon in the equation both Lava Golem and Volcanic Queen's effects cause significant burn damage to the Duelist who controls them, which is the whole reason why you can use your opponents monsters as tributes.@@buffbagwell123

I just knew bastion first card in part 1 would be a threat

Hold on, Carboneddon's effect doesn't say anything about there needing to be a certain number of cards above it in the graveyard in order to use it. He should have been able to summon Hyozanryu at any point after Carboneddon had been destroyed. Granted, if we were going by actual card text, then Hyozanryu should have also been summoned in Defense position, but there were multiple points in the duel where Jaden would have been unable to take out a 2800 DEF monster, so that wouldn't have been too much of an issue. In other words, Bastion could have very easily beaten Jaden, and yet he threw the entire duel away by imposing a rather bizarre restriction on himself.

Remember when the stakes are high the main character always wins no matter how good is his opponent bastion litteraly studied his deck and made the perfect strategy to disable jaden's deck but the plot armor was like jaden is the mc jaden must win
