That's because the packs are based on real life packs. Some of those cards weren't banned before this game.

It's an oversight due to the packs in this game being based on the ocg paper sets. They could have removed them from sets. Like they eventually did for Duel Links and MasterDuel. But at the time, they never thought to that. Technically, you can play traditional format in this game. You just have to unlock it.

If it's any consolation, and if memory serves right, card pulls in these games are actually biased somewhat in the player's favour after a while, by making you guaranteed (or otherwise much more likely) to pull cards that you don't already have a playset of (in the appropriate rarity). So for example, since Cyber Jar is in the rare slot, once you pull 3 of it, you will not pull Cyber Jar again until you've gotten a playset of all the other Rare-slot cards of that pack. In other words, you are eventually guaranteed to get every card in a pack, and multiples too, if you pull enough. At least, that's how I've understood it. I've been playing a little of the 2011 game recently, too, and it's noticeable there, now that I'm aware of this mechanic. I assume 2009 works the same.

I remember these boosters irl, and it's why so many cards are banned. They simply took irl boosters that were released in different times with varying ban lists

It messes up your burn subtheme, but Prime Material Dragon is good in the early game. It trades with Monarchs and can help with Dark Holes, Torrential Tributes, Mirror Forces and Lighting Vortexs. Dimensional Prison being so accesible to the NPCs is the only real downside.

I have the world record for the speed run of this game and it's always a great time watching others do the stealth sections of this game😂 Also the great pain I felt when Asprey said he wouldn't want to use Injection Fairy Lily just for the bad vibes (IFL is the main card utilized in the speedrun).

I'm only guessing since I've never played this game, but it looks like that signer mark is a single wing. Jack's mark in the show was both wings, so I'm assuming that his mark was split in two for this story to have 5 known signers and 1 unknown signer.

Considering that the storyline of 5D's was litreally changed to make Crow a signer instead of a dark signer because he was popular (obvs screwing over Leo who was meant to be the signer), I think making your random OC character a signer is fine. Actually if it somehow made Crow not a signer that'd be funny.

I don't want to spoil too much, but I don't think anyone is going to easily guess what the deal with the main character's signer mark is. It's so crazy that it almost crosses over into being brilliant.

Crow becomes the 5th Signer taking Yusei's original mark when Yusei takes the mark of the Dragon Head, but if you watch the Japanese only episodes after the WRGP arc, you discover that Leo becomes the 6th Signer with the mark of the Dragon Heart.

Book of Moon is better used on the opponent’s monsters to beat over them.

I know this is super later timing and idk if it's been said, but Shield Crash/Crush is the same as E Hero Madball/Mudball

The stealth sections in this game are extremely rough, I had to look up on KZread how to get past them 😅 But I love your playthrough :)

You got incredibly lucky with Aki, so much that I'm actually jealous. I remember she took me over 20 tries because she always opened with the stupid plant princess or I couldn't draw into my backrow removal before it was too late to stop her plays. I only beat her because, of course, she eventually bricked. You should make space for Book of Moon, it's super good in this era of Yugioh. Most boss monsters don't have protection against it and then a humble Shield Crash or Mystic Swordsman Lv2 can take them out no problem if the defense is still too high to beat over.

Skill issue

SDA cards that care about column, IIRC, are Storm Shooter (once per turn, you can move it to an adjacent monster zone OR bounce 1 opponent's card in the same column - if it was level 6 it would actually be decent, but at level 7 it's just a worse Raiza), Blasting fuse (trap, if entire column is filled, destroy all in column), Senet Switch (move 1 monster you control to to another of your monster zones, Needle Wall (roll 1d6 during your standby, destroy any monster in the zone you roll, 6 is a reroll)
