Darvish was immediately my favorite pitchers I’ve ever seen when I first saw him pitch with the rangers, the dude is AMAZING. I’m hoping the rangers can either get Yamamoto as he seems very similar. But I’ll also be okay if we land Ohtani ! 😂

It sounds quite neat when you have more than five pitches in your repertoire. You can kind of "pick your loadout" for the day and then depending on the opposing hitters you can add or subtract. Say you've been throwing fastballs, changeups, and sliders then after four innings you replace the changeup with the splitter since they've been making contact with it and add the curveball to tunnel with the slider.

Of all current MLB Pitchers active, even though the numbers don’t show it, I feel like Darvish is the most talented. I was so happy to see him come over to my Cubbies and hated seeing him go.

Slow leg wind up, more mechanical looking for any breaking ball, and faster leg wind up and delivery on fast ball, he’s nice with it tho

The amount of research you put in to this video is awesome and I commend you for that. But you have a lot to learn when it comes to pitching. Pitch categorization is different than grip manipulation. I'd be thrilled to help you understand these differences and intricacies if you're interested in learning. For example there's no difference between a sinker and a 2 seam fastball, by definition all sinkers are 2seamers

there is absolutely a difference between two-seamers and sinkers. not sure where you heard that. they dont even have the same tail. sinkers break way early

i didn't hear it from anyone. It's just a fact. A 2-seam fastball has only to do with grip, a sinker is just an adjective for how the pitch moves. All sinkers are 2-seamers, but not all 2-seamers are sinkers. Grip wise there is no difference, movement wise there can be. But pitches are categorized by grip, not by movement. There are a number of grips for a changeup, yet they are somehow all called changeups. Anyway, next time you want to doubt me, don't. @@poindextertunes

I know you mentioned that the knuckle curve is hard to learn but I remember trying to figure out a curveball and I found the knuckle curve and it only took me a day or two to actually figure it out. To be fair though I was 12 at the time, shit was nasty af if I threw it right

As a Rangers fan, I was in awe of Darvish during his tenure in Texas. And 11 pitches is indeed impressive. But oh the numbers. His salary has averaged $15,000,000/year while he averages less than 10 wins/year. Not so great. His post-season record is 4-6, including two losses in his only WS. Not so hot. Nor was his 2023 ERA of 4.46 and 8 wins. BTW, he lost his last 3 starts in 2023, getting hammered for 13 runs in 16 innings. So the assortment of pitches is interesting, but it doesn't count for much if he can't produce wins commensurate with his salary, or win in the post-season. I will take Eovaldi any day, He went 5-0 in the 2023 playoffs. He racked up more playoff wins in one post-season that Yu has won in 11 years. When heat is on, Nate gets the job done.
