How many times will Johnny get hit over the head and beaten up before he turns into a vegetable. Poor old Johnny and he never gets the girl.

As many times as the script calls for. In real life he WOULD be a vegetable. He does have a girlfriend who lives in Hartford later in the series, but they need to create romantic tension with women in each episode

@@debbieking3575 Johnny had a girlfriend named Betty Lewis. She did not appear very often. There was one show where she was suspected of murder (but she was innocent, of course). That episode is 661 The Double Identity Matter. Another episode with Betty Lewis is episode 690 The Mystery Gal Matter.

I thought that too. Hollywood treats a smack on the head as a on /off switch. Oh my head is pounding. Yeah , you would end up with a cracked skull . They have used that trick from the first cop radio show to the new Hawaii 50 .. oh that Hollywood 🤷🏼♂️

They needed to keep him single so they could play on the romance angle. That's why they often depict attractive women.

He must walk the earth alone, so he can have romance with another woman in later episodes. And of course, no sex in the 1950s, not even implied sex, just romance
