Hello everybody, welcome to my channel. I feature old time radio broadcasts from the 1930s to the 1980s, radio shows which are in the public domain. I normally add shows every Sunday mornings, and make corrections to existing shows all week.
Another night at the campfire, another night with YTJD. Thank you for making the adventures accessible.

Phineas Crane sounds like Doc on the radio Gunsmoke, and Floyd, the barber on the Andy Griffith Show. Yup, Howard McNear.

I always wondered if Banacheck was based on Johnny Dollar?
@michaeldegen38505 күн бұрын
There is no doubt that is true. TV took radio shows and turned them into TV shows. The comparison between YTJD and Banacek is obvious.

The kid sounds like the kid that was in the first gunsmoke episode “Billy the kid.” In fact there are a lot of actors in the bob bailey years of YTJD that were also on Gunsmoke radio..including announcer Roy Rowan!

Both shows were on CBS, and both were done in California, so they would "share" actors.

Thank you for this great quality audio upload. I live in PA across the river from Trenton NJ, and it is cool to see how much of a connection Orson Welles and Mercury had to the city, it was even in the story of Citizen Kane (its where Kane and his bridge got married)

I was surprised listening this ep bc having listened to over a thousand hrs OTR drama the closest I’ve heard to my hometown would be the Norfolk/VA Beach area. I’m from EC and back in the 50 s it was smaller than it is today, and Currituck was just swamp, peppered with villages that you’d miss if you blinked while driving by. It is true about the hurricanes, with the way NC juts out along the Outer Banks coastline we do get some real bruisers.

I am enjoying these. They are only around 30 minutes long, but quite well done. I like the "Ye Olde" feel to them.
