YSP 4 Philip Deslippe | Making Sense of Yogi Bhajan's Kundalini Yoga
In this episode, we speak with Philip Deslippe (UC Santa Barbara) about his research on the modern history and construction of Kundalini Yoga, the controversies surrounding the late guru Yogi Bhajan, as well as the role and positionality of the scholar and historian of yoga.
Speaker Bio
Philip Deslippe is a historian of American religion with a background in American Studies and literature. He is currently a doctoral candidate in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara where he is writing a dissertation on the early history of yoga in the United States from the mid-nineteenth to mid-twentieth century. Philip has published articles on the history of modern yoga in academic journals such as the Journal of Yoga Studies, Amerasia, and Sikh Formations, and in popular venues including Yoga Journal, Air and Space Smithsonian, and the Indian news site Scroll.

Gentlemen, on min 7 you’re questioning the use of the word kundalini, as bhajan used it, great. I’ve figured out that the only source of KY knowledge is on all those geometry symbols on the chakras, and nowhere else. With geometry, Mr. Kundalini is telling us that the message is all reasoned logic. All that geometry leads to a body-motion rhythm … .

Instead of focusing on improving our life, people create negative karma for them self by putting others down ( wasting precious life time ) and ultimately they also face the same when time comes to reap the fruits of those sown seeds (then it is realized and regretted). Read the history of unguli maar and buddha , bhagat sadna,hazrat nazamudim and Amir khusro, how people throw garbage for their own motives .

The person who created negative karma for himself was Harbhajan Singh, when he raped Pamela Dyson and countless other women. The women who have come forward to share their stories should be commended for their courage and resilience. It is you who is “throwing garbage”.
