I'm also sad as this is the first time I have any issues with a designer item

So sorry this has happened. I’ve had this bag in the burgundy color for 2 years. I carry it usually in the fall and winter. I’ve carried it quite a bit (I do change my bags out often but it’s one of my go tos in those seasons). It has worn amazing well. It still looks new. I do have a bag organizer in it. The strap has no wear at all. Definitely take it into YSL.

So a few things to consider after reading some of the comments here. Just because it's Luxury does it mean it's not going to wear ,it's real skin and if you use it a lot it will show some signs of wear it's a natural thing to happen also consider how much weight your bag may be carrying dont over stuff it because that too can make the bag wear faster. Also what I've learned about the yop of the bag falling in like that is because of how we pick it up, we tend to squeeze the top to pick it up and that quickly over time will change the shape , I think we forget it's skin that will Bend and confirm to how we use it.. good luck I'm sure the warranty for you is still in good standing though I'm so surprised where you purchased your bag they didn't inform you of this warranty of 2 years.

I got mine last year (June 2021 actually!) and have carried it every single day with the exception of a day I went hiking - not a single scratch or crack or anything. Take it in and see what they say.

i have the same issue too! but mine was brand new and bought from Bicester Village and i only have it for less than a year, or 8 months to be exact. and dont wear it alot since there have been several lockdowns when i bought it. i also baby it and dont stuff alot of things in the bag. but was so disheartened when i looked closely and saw the peeling and cracking on both side of the strap holders. even on the strap i noticed some cracking too. i brought the bag to my local ysl store and have submitted for repair. im still under warranty but this is such a let down. i've been wanting to get the bag for quite a while but now im not too sure if i want to keep it. i have several bags, and some costs less than YSL but quality is still superior than that!

Oh no! So sorry to hear that it has happened to you as well! It sounds that this is definitely a bigger issue with this exact bag model! And it makes me sad because Saint Laurent bags cost a lot of money so I'd assume that the quality should be consistent... I'm also doubting if I want to have this bag any more. All this issues have kind of put me off it

I think it's worth to take it into the boutique, Poola. I have a feeling they'll repair it for you for free. I haven't seen many reviews about this bag so I don't have anything more helpful to share. I'm a bit surprised that it's showing wear after only 9 months of being store-bought. The Neverfull also has skinny straps but the soft vachetta leather doesn't budge. However, I believe the DE ones had cracking problems once upon a time. Thing is, the treated leather on the DE is so much stiffer than the leather on this camera bag so yeah, really disappointing to hear. I hope you find a quick and favorable resolution to this. Agree with Patricia. Worst they can do is say that it's wear and tear. But at least you will be more informed when you decide on your next saint laurent bag.

I’m getting a lot of encouragement to ask directly from YSL if they could do something about it ☺️ heh Dani, you are right! The worst thing is they say it’s normal wear 😅

Definitely take it into the boutique - the worst they can do it ask you to pay for a repair... you can always say no 🥰 such a shame when something doesn't wear as we would like it to, especially when you haven't had it for that long!!

I have a few saint laurent bags and from what I was told they come with a two year repair warranty so I would see if they would fix it.

Youd love the gucci soho disco better than this bag. I agree with you that the strap is too thin for the size of the bag, for how much it can hold and how heavy it can get. I sold mine, it was kind of irritating to use.

Saint Laurent ended up repairing the bag for me free of charge - and after that I sold it! I couldn't risk it happening again :D I agree that Gucci Soho Disco probably is better, but so far I've continued without a camera bag :)

I’ve heard so many good things about this bag, it seems that something is wrong. I would be nervous that the strap will eventually break. I love the camera bag and was thinking of getting it, but it makes me think twice.

That’s exactly my worry as well! That some day I’ll end up with a broken strap and then getting it fixed might be very expensive compared to the current situations. But I’ve gotten a lot of encouragement to check from YSL if they would repair this (free of charge) so all my hopes are not gone yet! But otherwise this bag is so practical, cute and easy to use so I really hope that my piece is just a bit faulty and that this is not standard issue to this bag

My first version of this bag was fine used it so much I sold it to get another colour! Had the same issues as you got a refund tried 2 other bags and again same issues! I've gave up on this bag! Seems the older version of this bag was made properly! Such a shame as its such a nice bag!

I take care of my luxury purses. I love my Lou camera bag and how it smells. I don't have any damage.

I feel that this bag is not meant for everyday wear. Many of the preowned I saw are not in good condition and looked like aged leather. It is quite big and supposed to carry a lot yet the straps are thin.

I have the same bag in all black and I feel the exact same way as you. My bag also has some wear on the strap, and I feel it’s because of the way the strap is attached to the bag, and also because the strap is too narrow for a bag this size. I love camera bags in general - I own the Gucci Soho Disco as well as the Gucci Marmont camera bag, and neither of those have this issue. Their straps are broader and while both are not detachable, somehow they work well with those bags. This YSL Lou however doesn’t wear that well at the spot where the strap is attached to the bag. Also, the bag has decent capacity, so I tend to overstuff it. It fits more than my Gucci soho. I feel that might be another reason the strap wears out faster, because you will add more items into the bag. Take it to the store for sure. This bag is too new to already be showing wear and tear.

Such a shame! This definitely shouldn’t happen at luxury prices! Perhaps you can add a second chain strap to the bag for extra support. Alternatively, if the original strap does end up breaking, you could attach another removable strap of your choosing.

Agreed! This should not happen. But it's still possible that it's only my bag which is faulty and not all of them! I ended up contacting YSL to ask what they say about this - is it "normal wear" according to them or not. There's a part two coming video coming next week :)

I haven't bought the Lou bag for that reason. On the preloved market, they look like they lose a lot if structure. I only have the woc and envelope bag both structured bags. I've had a bit of glazing chip off on the woc but not used the envelope bag enough for it have wear and tear.

Almost all my YSL items are a lot more structured and I haven’t encountered these issues before. But now that I’m thinking about it, the straps have been from chain and not leather 🤔

I did not face any problem yet. Coz I don't have the bags for a long time and I don't go out that much. But I saw with friends. Especially the envelope it peals even without using it by time.and for the puffer and the loulou if u don't keep it bag stuffed with paper while not using it . It can loose it shape

Also when I say s doesn't worth price. Coz I can see. That people was buying ysl more for its price point. Not for the quality. That doesn't mean it has a poor quality.

Hi lovely! I have worn my Lou so much. I don’t baby it, I have traveled with and it looks so good. I do see a little wear and tear where you mentioned but I’ve had my bag for two years now. It’s my most worn bag. The wear in my bag isn’t anything major. However, yours is a lot newer. I would take it into the boutique for sure.

That’s really good! Luckily Saint Laurent took the bag in for repair for free but in the end I was too conserned it would happen again so I sold it 😅

I had the same problem. That colour seems to have issues. I sent mine back. Then I bought a grey one from net a porter and it was fine.

I thought I loved this camera bag until i brought....i got the bkack on black....and within 9 months it was already chipping on the hardware....and honestly my opinion the bag itself looks cheap...the zipper was tough...i hated it.....i ended up selling it...i have the loulou and envelope bags which i absolutely adore 😍

I have the bag in black on black. It’s so scratch. The YSL is chipping and the zipper is becoming discolored. I’ve had less than a year. Should I have it repaired and then sell? Does anyone know how much repairs are

Take my advice:Take it in the Ysl boutique if you have quality issues!!! My Story: I bought my bag from a big reseller, an official partner from Ysl. Had the bag for 11 month (worn it maybe 20 times) and discovered the same issues as you. After I asked for a quality check (with high hopes that they can repair it) I send my bag to the Original Little Boutique in Italy, which sells the bag using this big reseller online Platform. This was 78 days ago (beginnig of November). Until NOW I have not received ANY feedback from the boutique in italy. The big online company has such a terrible Customer Service! They do not really care, just standard answers. I wanted to Skip the quality Check, because Ysl told me I can Go directly to their stores to ask for a quality check and a following repair (because this issue is well known by the brand) and it does not matter that I bought it from a third Party (their Partner. But the big online company told me that skipping the process and wanting my unrepaired bag back is bot possible, because it is now in control of the Boutique/Partner in italy (That no one can reach …). Can you believe that…. I never gave them the ownership, they just should check the issues… I have a bad feeling that I won‘t get it back …..

I have two other videos of that experience. But I was so sceptical that the same would happen again so I ended up selling the bag after I got it back from repair
