For pure sailing goodness, even more hard-core than NBJS (no disrespect meant) my fave is How to Sail Oceans. Kevin is out there in a Gilmer 31 full keel double-ender with a pretty old fashioned gaff rig and no engine. Anyone can learn how to tack in close quarters watching this guy. Also crossing oceans, pretty much lives on it, makes his own music for the channel, etc.Highly recommend.

Commentng so you find it. Sailing Triteia and Cruising Lealea are my top picks. You stole some of the other ones I had. Cruising Lealea aren't cruising at this particular moment. Laura is working as a vet right now. Look at their older content. This couple is the first and sole sailing channel that convinced me the liveaboard life could be a realistic lifestyle for the average guy. No need to fight storms just hunker down and wait it out. No need to outrun storms if you do proper planning/mapping before departure. No need for expensive gadgets and endless gadgetry causing excessive weak points in the hull. No need for fancy exotic dinners and fine wine. A good home cooked meal, a beer, and maybe a stogie is all you need. If you're tight on cash and/or don't mind a little rowing you can anchor most anywhere for free. Also, as a fellow introvert, I vibe really well with Sailing Triteia. I see him as the future version of me basically.

Christian Williams - He's an old school guy and his solo Hawaii crossing video is a must watch. Wildlings Sailing - A young British guy recommissioning a hand built catamaran. I'm a female, a bit wobbly chunky 50ish gal and I think it's how it's all presented- you're right in terms of the 'clickbait' aspect. It's frickin' off putting because I feel I'm watching a video meant for 14 year old boys who turn the volume down and make off with the Kleenex. On the other hand, if I was a perky lil' thing I wouldn't be wearing a parka on the boat! Haha.

Cracked over 14 knots of boat speed on their Cape Horn rounding if I remember right. And, double handed. Competed in a couple regattas double handed in various places. Their channel shows them winning a Chi-Mac overall as crew. They present their long passages really well with good info on the conditions and sail plan choices. Just a lot to enjoy in terms of actual sailing. Boat is nice, and a great choice for their use with some well thought out changes, but also relatable as most racers have been on a J boat or two at the club. All around good stuff.

We are relatively new sailors having started in 2020. Just in the summer still working so not doing the really longer trips. We started watching Sailing Solianis and did enjoy some of their adventures although as they had a baby and their life shifted towards a trailerable trimaran that wasn't really what we were looking for so haven't been watching of late. I think they were a decent channel but as you point out there's better ones out there. The one we have really enjoyed has been Sailing Uma. Given that they have a 1972 Pearson 36 there will inevitably be boat work but they also went out and did it and sailed and have been working on their vessel along the way. They're also good storytellers and have gotten very good at videography which makes the destinations that they go to interesting. They also seem reasonably down to earth. Given if they have an electric boat it means that they really do have to sail to get to the places they want to go versus motoring. I give them credit for the journeys that they've made so far and we still haven't watched all the content but so far we like it. They're currently doing that major refit which probably isn't something I would do on a boat of their age but that was their choice. So I find it a good mix of content. I have watched Sam Holmes a few times and definitely give him credit for making the trip on Ranger 23 from LA to Honolulu. I thought the smiling was often because he's half crazed from lack of sleep on those passages. But I do intend to watch more of his content and interested in finding other channels to potentially watch.

The channels are what they are. Some people dream of sailboats in the tropics with eye candy, male and female, onboard. Some people look at the sailing adventures where the wind is howling and the sails are whipping and the waves tower over the boat and dream of that. To each their own. We all gotta learn in our own way and come to our own realizations. Some people get lucky and take the short path, some don't. The destination is not guaranteed. Enjoy the journey.

When I first began seriously dreaming of my future little sailboat I was greatly encouraged by youtuber Sailing Malou and his videos eg "The Best sailboat 2000 Dollars Can Buy", which featured a small list of rather old and tiny sailing boats that "absolutely will get you across an ocean." You're the guy with the budget recommendations beyond my reality, but I feel like I'm learning from your content. Between 2k and 50k perhaps I will find a happy middle path. And - seeing as you asked: I've been watching this brave awesome young guy on his tiny boat crossing treacherous waters all by himself. The channel is called "Garretts Adventures". He's NINETEEN. And unlike Laura Dekker, he doesn't have much knowledge or experience. It seems to be something he's only recently started learning how to do. I'd appreciate anyone out there giving this young man a bit of support, even if it's just keeping an eye out for him and his latest uploads. Hopefully he stays safe and enjoys a long wonderful life discovering the world, gaining experience and becoming a great seaman. Respect and kind regards from the UK!

Hi there, thanks for your videos, 100% agree with you, i don't like the big channels. And thanks for making me laugh when I watch your videos :) My favorite one currently is "sailing bohemia". No girls, 2 gay guys, sailing from San Francisco through Mexico and the sea of Cortez, then through the panama canal and around Columbia. They sail, and enjoy the places they set anchor at. More like a real traveling and sailing vlog, and they're fun. I just put their playlist on in the background and binge on their travels, it's relaxing. Would love for you to check them out and share with us what you think. Good quality videos and story telling as well. They've been at it for 3y and barely have 6k subscribers, even though they did a lot of true sailing and anchoring. Currently they are offering chartering people in San Blas, I guess to make ends meet.

I believe Canadian ones had wheels. But I'm not sure if it refers only to 32s. This one is 35. Might have to do something with Canadian place of birth. Absolute unit of a boat. They figured out there is something better than right with them after Fastnet tragedy. Incredible pedigree. Not at all thought out as cruising tank but made numerous circumnavigations while they weren't a thing. And still winning regattas.

@@cetterus the 32 was made in Canada with wheels. Very hard to find info on the 35/38 with wheel. Most of late 32 had hole you could add a wheel to. But very tight. You see Erik makes it look like a laser when he’s bounding around on it. Amazing boat if your in the shit though.

Why do people choose to buy a boat? Sail or simply look around and see the world that interests them. If they choose to record what they do or where they go .. good for them. Now if you think buying a boat to explore areas that interest you makes you suck … then it is time to shut down your channel. People dream and hope that some day they can reach their dream … let them look at what might be out there to see and learn even just a little about another culture. So you might just want to look at your reasons and you might find that your defining who sucks and who does not places you in the you suck category. You might wonder have I even see the ocean? Fair … I have not been in the highest regions of the Atlantic nor came around Cape Horn at this time. My sailing / cruising bucket list is likely far different than most. And the places I have been is also.

@@abcgang8048 I have more miles on the water than you will ever have and in more vessels of every type. I have also built more yachts than I can remember, so I know what I need to go where I wish to go and what boat is needed for that water. Cost to fix not a problem if you keep it as simple as possible. So you might want to point what you wrote to me to everyone who dreams and has zero experience. I will need and use several boats because of my plan to sail, tailor you boat to what and where not just how.

There are plenty of great channels out there who keep it real as well as show what a good time can be had in exotic places. I was kind of shocked Delos wasn't in this lineup of channels that don't suck. There are others too like We Sail, Calico Skies, Zingaro, and Zatara just to name a few. Those guys are living onboard their boats and doing real sailing. I can see you trash talking people who steal your content but what are you getting out of trash talking other people's channels. Trust me it's not going to help you achieve anything. What the heck did Aticus and Uma do to you to deserve your ridicule. Brother that just isn't cool.

Let me tell you, I have just watched, zapped through this last Delos video, this thing made me throw up. Basically it feels like a commercial from beginning to end. I wonder is there is subliminal in it, someone would have to view it frame by frame. Doodle. I don't care what his history is, to me, It's a porn channel in disguise. Wind Hippie and Old Seadog are as raw as it can be. Talk to us about this one. Expedition Drenched and his nonlucrative business :)

His is also a no BS just sailing channel with few views, haha there is a trend here, if you want views don't make a pure sailing channel, concentrate on soft porn.
