FYI Captain Q from Captain Q Yacht Hunter has hung it up as well. Hard to say whether it's his age or maybe some health concerns, but I really liked that guy and am sorry to see him go. Fair winds to Captain Q!

That is so sad. I absolutely loved how his always positive outlook and his great love for boats.
Sailing GBU was one of my favorites, not for the sailing content but for the personalities. I initially looked and thought, meh, just another T&A channel but I got hooked on their sense of humor. Matt exudes cool. I wish them well in their land adventure.

Yeah I'm excited for them
The best part of GBU is that they'll be doing themselves on the land and it sounds like they are keeping their boat so they will still have sailing content. I absolutely love their channel as they show people you can do a lot of stuff with very little. I will continue to watch them as they seem to be the most down to earth and funny people. I really enjoy watch Sailing Uma also as they took a decent boat and put in the hard work to show you that you can get out there with very little even though they're getting pretty large now! I watch other channels and while they have good editing and scenery they're so upscale it makes it look like only rich people can sail.
Hey Chris, i hope you don't stop making videos as you alluded too in this video. I rely heavily on your content to inform me and minimize a potential mistake when i finally pull the trigger and commit to this life change. I'm retiring next year in my early 50's.

Totally agree, please keep it going...
Chris, I wish you the best and hopefully I can find someone like you when I get ready to jump into coastal cruising and island hopping. God bless. (hope you don't stop for a while though.)
Great hearing from you Chris
What’s up! I saw their video yesterday. Love your videos, brother!
i'm so grateful for your brutally honest content. i really appreciate how you lay things out & can share from your experiences.
Don't leave us Chris. We love your videos, your extensive sailboat knowledge, your recommendations and comparisons, your basic rules for purchasing a sailboat. Who and what to totally ignore. We love your sense of humor, sarcasm and brutal honesty. When I heard the "narcissist cunt" statement I was like OMG I love this guy as it was like something I would say. Haters be damned.
I am really enjoying your new video reviews. I cannot wait until you get to the big ones!
Folsom ocean views was a personal favorite lost my replacement channel Sailing nomad Citizen is on its way out too. Lock downs sure pushed the dream but survival creeps up and everything changes.
The Good bad and Ugly couple are great to watch , Matt is brilliant and funny and she is a doll
Retired CAT mechanic loves kitesurfing. Bought a sailboat Not retired any longer omg lol My dream of fix a little has vanished. I had no idea of the fibreglass tubs systems need for constant attention ( denial , I watched these videos and tried to listen lol ) Paint the bottom … ya ok but once a year omg. But I didn’t rralize it’s a monthly cleaning too lol then there’s that loose rudder and play in the cutlass. Extra time on the hard , cha ching ! You experienced know the rest what those like me have coming 😂 Glad I’m retired and can chill the time away and have a little income to do this. Fix fix replace .. repeat Union island or bust lol Thank you Chris. I love direct talk to the point 😂
The one thing that bugs me about them quitting is that I waited so long for them to finish the refit….and once they did, the furthest they sailed was the bvi’s
Wait until anchoring is banned !!! Image the costs of mooring added on to all your bills for a sailboat... some moorings are already $80 USD a night !!!!

No country's population will allow a ban on anchoring. Sailing made the world we live in and it is still keeping it going. In Scandinavia (the Vikings) government spent a few weeks talking about making some kind of sailing license mandatory but they quickly figured out that this would end their political careers. Sailing is a human right!
The Quitters ..... absolute genius topic !!!! Keep the roasts going !!! I love it !!!!
Ill keep watching as long as you keep post bruv.
Most youtubers that has done major refits on boats that should have been brought to the landfill, has ended up giving up or eventually upgraded to a boat that was in decent shape.
Sailing beaver was a good no bullshit channel. They quit too
Another thing that irks me about some sailing channels as of late, is that they never have a stated goal or plan….they just bounce around from anchorage to anchorage….
לאן נעלמו "sailing sea change"? עבודת מצלמה הכי טובה שהיתה כאן בנושא sailing..
Another one is "The Sailing Family" ... Seth, the father of 3 boys, got a job for a yacht company in CA and decided to quit his family's circumnavigation of the globe. I think they made it Australia from USA and there the story ended for them during the plandemic years.
Done
Social media has rotted kids minds. I have watched various KZread channels for over 10 years. I watch for simple entertainment and sometimes I learn something new. But, I don’t give a flip about their personal lives. They can do anything they wish and if they choose to make videos and/or beg for sponsorship or attention that’s not my business.
SAILING GBU JUST QUIT TOO !!!!!!
Sailing has never been difficult for me and I've been doing it off and on for decades. Living on a boat or crossing oceans is a whole different discussion. Boats are expensive of course especially on the ocean because it is a harsh environment and everything is in motion all the time which wears stuff out. Homesteading is no cake walk either. I'd rather be sailing or a gentleman farmer than trying to homestead. My advice if you want to sail is to find a way to sail on someone else's boat. It is 1. less expensive than trying to own/maintain your own boat, and 2. easier than finding people who will sail with you. If you like it then you will make friends who want to sail and if you buy your own boat you will have crew and experience that is relatively inexpensive. You can research all you want but until you do it you will not really know.
I watched some channel like, bums on a boat, but got increasingly tired of the forced drama. They quit, I think. A lot of niches get overwhelmed with "content" providers. Think: Cruise Ships, RV reviews, camping, canal boats, etc. These are a dime a dozen with copy and paste content. I'll stick with your channel here for sailing.

Agreed. The channels with patreon subscribers HAVE to upload videos even when there’s nothing to show. It’s very annoying.
It's all about the bikini, snorkeling shots!
No roasting on Kristen's bikini qlicks....😂😂😂 . Respect for Matt...? No, they did good when they were sailing. Funniest when docking without engine. 😉
Awwww....😭 KZread sailing is difficult? Does it make your 😾 hurt? We've spoken in live chat about Kemah/Galveston/Corpus Christi yacht prices. I've talked to some of those sellers in person, and they won't budge a cent on the price, even after a survey. They'd rather see the yacht go to scrap before they'd lower the price 🤬!

@@abcgang8048 🎯! Went back to the same guy twice (1 full year apart) and STILL wouldn't budge. Perhaps I should have just contacted the scrap yards and had them call me when they got a new yacht in.....

I've been looking at TX boats and the mid 2k boats all seem to be around the 80-90k mark, no matter what. If you want to cheaper, you are getting a project. I have classic cars already so no thanks on a classic boat.

@@isaace8090 Please learn from my experience, look elsewhere other than Texas. I don't know what it is exactly, but Texans will not sell their sailing yachts for much less than what they want. Even after survey. 🤬

@@johnq.public2621 That's good advice. I've seen some boats for sale for 6-9 months that have not had a price drop and are still sitting there. I guess they really don't care about selling their boat very bad.
Abandon comfort!

By all accounts, those two were complete frauds. They were taking endorsements and patreon money but dragging out their boat refit. It turned out they were buying tiny houses for air BNB or some such. Their Patreons were pissed.
Hopefully you stick around. Love your content.

Fair enough
you should do a video on "Spear It Animal"... they come off as pretentious and overly self assured although I admire their ambition and carpentry/fabrication.

Dang, you think they come off pretentious? I dont see it. Have you watched the early videos of Spear It Animal? Raff seems legit. I think Sascha is pretty dialed in as an accomplished sailor too. She does boat deliveries. Of course they seem like typical Florida party ppl, but still. And, theyre kinda grimmy, so I f*k w/ their channel. Whats wild is, all the footage in the episodes theyre releasing was shot in a whole last year. Anyway, i agree with the carpentry/fabrication skills - Raff's got a talent.

@codegame027 Their electrical/battery upgrade video was full of dangerous errors. It's hard for me to watch such silliness. Even harder to understand how they're insured. Boat insurance companies aren't eager to cover DIY wantabe electricians. And, if they do manage to secure boat insurance, an electrical fire claim by a DIY'er is only covered at 50% on most policies. In addition, manufacturers warranties can be voided unless installed by qualified marine electricians.

@@nooneanybodyknows7912 i did notice a lot of stuff too. They were being rather dismissive. Yet they were extremely assertive in their scripting. At least low voltage is less dangerous but even so.
When A sailing vlog depends on a chick in a barely bikini for it views pregnancy will shut them down.
I like GBU, but to also fair, you always bashed many other channels for the bikini, drama, bikini drama strategy.....but you haven't mentioned this in their case....just saying
