It feels so good to hear that the 'upload consistently' tip is not really accurate. I've been beating myself up for missing a week and now I feel that there has been a weight lifted from my shoulders! Thank you for being honest and having the courage to debunk your own advice!

Yes I feel that kind, too was on fear it would cause damage if I will sometimes happen to not be able to upload a video every week 😔really stressed my out. In my opinion no schedule is also no good but that it hasn't to be accurate 100 percent is really good to know so we don't stress us out so much about missing a week.. I thought it was true that that would do damage..

Agree! I started looking at my analytics of when my subscribers show as most frequently online, and upload accordingly. That time changes day by day and week by week. I can't say definitively that it has helped overall, but it definitely gets me more views in the first hours after upload as compared to before when I would stick to just the time I had set in my mind (errr. . .maybe told to me by others. . .) was the 'best'.

I’ve never fallen prey to this practice and never will. I follow a couple hundred people and I don’t know when they post and I don’t care when they post. If I see the notification and it’s interesting, like Annie’s videos. I will click on them as soon as I see them. And if I missed it as I scroll through the ones I missed I will pick the ones I want to view.

When you said that by trying so hard to commit to an uploading schedule may risk the quality of our videos I felt it so much! It's such a relief to realise that not being 100% consistent with uploading it's not going to matter that much. I love that you talk about not worrying about picking a niche. I have a makeup channel and was wanting to add skincare and fashion but was getting hung up on the whole niche down thing.
I am glad you mentioned the upload schedule! It’s stressful keeping up with a schedule
I don’t mind having a niche but I also don’t think it’ll totally destroy your channel if you didn’t have one. I think for the most part, if people like you, they’ll come to your channel regardless, just to see what you’re up to and what value they can still get out of your channel.

I’m so glad you said it! I’m tired of the term “niching down.” There’s no niche. There are certain channels that focus on one thing and that’s fine but don’t be afraid to cover other topics because it doesn’t fall into your “niche”. Your audience could be missing out on good information.

I just believe the idea of niching down can be overwhelming especially when you are a creator interested in diverse topics. The idea of niching should be YOU and when I mean by YOU, I mean your personality and your style... I believe people will be attracted to you and your channel no matter what type of content you make. Building a personal relationship with your community is key.
Thank you Annie for the honest information. I always watch KZread videos to know how to grow my channel, and as much as most KZread growth experts emphasize most of the tips you've outlined in this video, I end up ignoring some of them like the upload schedule and posting on Facebook groups. My aim is just to make each video better than the previous one by improving the quality, thumbnail, CTR, and retention. I had fallen for the niche down strategy though 😂 Thanks for this.

I SO agree with you!
I agree about the niche point. I do skincare, but if I followed the niche-down rule then I’d only be able to make content about skincare for dry, acne-prone, sensitive skin! And I don’t think that would be very appealing 😂 So I feel slightly broader content, but still focused, is better. I did want to point out that your target audience (in my opinion) is content creators in general, potentially smaller and newer creators. You’re not necessarily pulling a bunch of people who have your “niche” of helping people grow on KZread (though I’m sure they’re here too). So to mention that you find it annoying that people from an anime channel are commenting on your stuff, well that might be insulting your target audience. You’re pulling from all different focuses, which is part of the reason you’re able to find success. Just a thought.
Great video❤️✨

YES YES YES!
Great advice with regard to these strategies mentioned in the video. However I would beg to differ on one of those points you mentioned - niching down...so the main point about niching down is to have consistent content content across your channel, so that it doesn't lead to dead subscribers. To elaborate further, say I have multiple niches on my channel, subscribers who subscribed for niche A, will not be interested in Niche B...and vice versa. So, in my opinion, niching down is actually a good thing for your channel. Maybe we need to see your next video about niching down to understand your viewpoint...

I'm a bit confused about the niche point since you're sort of contradicting yourself. So you're saying you don't need to niche down but you need to focus on your audience but if you focus on your audience then you're most likely niching down. To me a niche tells your audience what they can expect from your channel. There's topics around your niche that you can explore but it all has to relate back to what your channel is about.
@anniedube
3 жыл бұрын
I don't think you quite understood what I said. 'Niching down' is sticking your content in a box and putting a label on it. You focus on your audience and what they need, you're not focussing on a 'niche' you're focussing on what value you're providing them. I don't put myself in the 'youtube growth' niche. I create videos helping content creators in different stages of their journeys to becoming full time creators and spreading their message to their own audiences x
@seancolby

@@anniedube I think our definitions of niche are different cause to me all the videos you do are part of a niche. I agree you shouldn't niche down too hard but you're still making videos related to what your channel is about. That 's what a niche is.

@Sean Colby You right I got confused. Niche to me is “your videos should have a relation to what your channel is about while at the same time provide value”. That allows you not to go deep but wide but within a scope.

LOL. I'm glad you mentioned all these points. Because I never really cared about some of those tips that people would say were vital to becoming successful on KZread. No diss to those who recommended them, I just knew it wasn't for me. For example, I knew that there was NO way I was able to fit my channel into a niche or a few niches and niche down and yadda yadda. Lol. Nah... Just be yourself. Talk about what you really like and love in life. Because there's bound to be people in the world that like and love the same things you do. It takes a little longer to gain subs, but the ones that sub, will absolutely LOVE your content. It's like becoming an extension of their family without actually meeting them in person. It's so cool. I love "working" on my channel because I just get to speak my mind about anything and everything. It's so liberating to just say what is really on your mind. Trust me. There's probably millions of people who totally agree with you on most things. And if they don't, that's OK too. Because people grow with time and exposure to different ideas. This is how we will fix and heal the world. This is what I believe. I'm glad to see that you have grown in the way you handle your content, Annie. That's what life is all about. Growth in mind and soul. Peace.

I remember a previous upload of yours discussing "no need for an upload schedule" which took a huge weight off my shoulders, as juggling a full time job, family, and a medical condition would not allow me to upload weekly, let alone on a set day and time of the week Today's upload reinforced that even further... it's been over 40 days that I have not uploaded, and that has been eating away at me... I love when you use visual aids taken directly from youtube and seeing the "6 months" definitely reassured me that I am not in nearly as bad of a situation as I had imagined Thank you again with all my heart for soothing my nerves and providing me with much needed comfort in a time of need! Fawn 😊❤👍

It's so easy to get in the habit of doing things we think are helping. Great advice to check-in with why you are doing things to make sure they are still current & valid:)

So true!
Thank you for your comment on niching! I needed to hear that!
I’ve been so worried the past few weeks about trying to find a narrow niche (down to the single type of game I’d be aloud to play) I’d be happy in and couldn’t pick just one, so thank you - I needed this.

Thank you Annie for the valuable info. I agree tremendously with the organic growth and being honest as a KZreadr, as for the schedule video posting it is good to know this but I will continue with the schedule posting because it helps me to stay organized. Thank you again for the video. Have an awesome day.

Great tips! Another piece about a 'regular schedule' is that burnout happens WAY quicker! I tried a schedule, but learned I hated it... making my love for video editing & creating something that was more of a 'job' vs just enjoying it! Cheers 🍻 - Ashley
This makes me feel so much better, I definitely fear I’m doing things “wrong” sometimes but I want to still enjoy the experience, that’s the whole point for me. It’s hard not to compare myself to other pages sometimes but realizing I’m in my own lane helps. Great content Annie 🥰

Please do make a video on the trouble with a narrow niche as I'd love to hear your thoughts! My videos are by nature of a narrow interest (horror books) and I've wanted to broaden my content but it's a weird thing to do and also be myself. I fear that having a narrow scope is exactly why my videos never rank... Or a big part of it anyhow! Looking forward to watching if you do make a video on it. Loved this sort of mythbusting take!
