You're not boring, you're a young Mum with a baby on the way, full of excitement and a vision of the path you want to follow. You have taken on the monumental task of trying to clear up an allotment overgrown with weeds. The allotment was like that before you got there, it just seems worse because spring has sprung and all of those weeds are growing like mad. My advice would be to get someone in with a brush cutter and cover it over with cardboard and heavy duty black plastic weed membrane that can be reused over the future. In the meantime, just work on clearing one little patch at a time. Plant something in it to grow and enjoy otherwise the weeds will fill the space. Small steps.

Yes. I was going to suggest the same thing. It can seem overwhelming. Cut back and cover most of the plot with loads of cardboard held down with bricks etc. Then tackle one bed at a time. It's what I did with mine. 😊

Thank you, Caroline. What a thoughtful comment. Sometimes, I get a little bit lost in my head. I've definitely noticed the weeds and nettles take over since we started with sunshine. It's a bit overwhelming but I really can't wait to see it a year from now! Thank you for your comment, friend. ♡

Will cardboard stop the nettles and weeds completely? Im worried that if I put weed killer on, it will make the beds unusable for growing veg. Let me know! ♡

@@YorkshireSerenity I have never used weed killer on my plot. All I did was cut everything right back, dug up any roots and layered with thick cardboard. The other option is to cover with a membrane then cover with woodchip until you are ready to use. This might be a better option for you as the weeds will die right back and give you time to do a small bit at a time whilst controlling weeds and looking neat. Most plots have free woodchip. Do you know if yours does? Or cardboard first, then membrane and woodchip. When ready you just take off woodchip and peel back membrane.

The idea is to chop all the weeds down, leave the material in place, and cover it over to block the sunlight from getting to them. It won't kill all of the roots of perennial weeds, but it will weaken them, making it easier to remove them when you are ready to work in that area. No chemical weedkiller involved. Also, the topsoil will be nourished by the decomposition of the cardboard and the chopped down weeds (brown cardboard, not shiny, tape removed) The worms will love it!!! ❤️

I’d suggest putting plot, allotment, og garden vlog in every title. It helps the algorithm pick your videos to show to people watching other allotment content. Also interacting with other allotment yt channels might help. I’ve picked up a few subscriptions after reading an interesting comment on a channel I watch and finding they are making videos, too. Not everybody picks up a large following. Not because anything they do is wrong, or boring, just because. But most importantly, having 800 subscribers after a month is not a bad place to be. Keep on keeping on. Best of luck! 💕

Thank you for the wonderful advice. I appreciate it! I will start putting things like that in the titles. It's not really the views I'm stressed about, but the fact my sub count won't go past 766.. like it's so weird to me that it keeps staying at that base level. I don't know.. I think I've confused myself. Haha.. ♡

I must say that you are doing amazing! you have been YouTubing for about the same time as me and I only have 169 subs so your 770 is eye-watering to me 😲. Rhubarb is totally fine 😊 I’d suggest continue picking them. Newer stems are more tender. And stop in mid-june to let the plant collect energy for next year. That’s the «rules» I’ve learned, ymmv 🤷‍♀️

You virtually cannot kill Rhubarb, I rescued one from a bonfire, it looked dead, but I planted it, over the years it gave me the nicest Rhubarb. Beware, the leaves contain Oxalic acid and are poisonous, but make good compost. As an idea for things to include, try some wine making, I experimented with almost anything I could grow, some were amazing and I made a good friend also doing the same. I love your honest approach, keep making these videos. 😊

That's what made me cautious.. Dr. Google said they can cause nausea and vomiting, and some can be toxic, and because I didn't plant it, I decided against using it just to be sure. It seems like a waste, but it's definitely going on the compost! ♡

If you check out some other new Tubers you'll see that you are actually doing amazingly well! Keep producing good, honest videos and your subs will come. I only have 169 which often feels a bit demoralizing but then I need to confirm to myself why I'm doing this. For me it's about documenting my journey, the subs (and possible monetization) will come in time - I hope - but for me that's not my main driver.

I don’t grow rhubarb to eat we grow it as a flower. Wow the lupin flowers are amazing. 😂😂 I had to look up shadow banning. There seems to be no rhyme or reason why some channels fly and others don’t, I watch some people for years and they still are under 200. I don’t bother what the numbers are I just have fun. Just use a rake to get the pond clean. Ya Rubab is fine, don't panic about it. That comes from Dr Robert. You need to sort out your polytunnel as it's a long way behind and I don't mean me over here. I thinking when I was in Scotland. Mid may my poly was full of food getting towards the picking stage not bare soil. Get your plants in earlier, that's why you use a poly to advance the season. Gardening I can help KZread account. Not the remotest and it says 769 on my screen. I don't un-subscribe from any. If not interested I just don't bother watching any more, but love to watch these allotment videos to see if they know what they are doing and the cock ups they make and offer help if they need it. We've had it warm these past few days 27-32 or 80-91 now cooling down again 1 c=1.8 f and don't forget too add 32 so 20c is 68 f as 0 c is 32 f . I expect to pick peas this week and maybe beetroot as well then next week Rasps with look, depending on the weather as Like you in Blighty the weather has been very poor and changeable, far from normal for this time of year. A blessing is normally too dam hot and have to keep banging water on so yesterday I watered for the first time for2 or 3 weeks now while last year it was every third day.Don't get upset if people tell you about your mistakes as that is how we all learn.. Hello and welcome! There is some good advice here.. you clearly know your youtube stuff. Is it just a coincidence that it continuously drops to that one number, or am I just thinking about it too much? What about if I added baking into the video? Like if it wasn't the title or thumbnail ie a harvest and bake video kind of thing? Anyway, thank you for your comment and your help! ♡
