@@hafsatizegwire2060 Definitely! In your Google Form, just change the options to 'Limit one per person'. You'll also need to change it to accept email addresses.

Great videos, excellent detailed instructions. I would like to use the QR codes system to know who sat where (for contact tracing). I am thinking I will make a QR Code for each classroom seat. Students would scan the seat code and then select their name from the form to check in at that seat. If you get a chance to demonstrate that, it will be most appreciated. Many thanks from Florida :)

If you have Microsoft in your school, then I have a video that will help out with this coming out very shortly. If not, create a new Google Form and spreadsheet for each seat just like you described. Then, when you set up the Google Form go to the Settings and make sure emails are being collected. When the student scans, it will automatically get their school email. They will need to select "Submit", though, but that won't be a problem since they're scanning a QR dedicated to just one seat.

Oh. My. God. There is so much ArrayFormulas can do! As long as an ArrayFormula is working on another function that itself doesn't use arrays, then you can use it. It is extremely powerful and there's so many tricks and loopholes to get ArrayFormulas to work when they shouldn't.

Hey man, awesome video, altogether with the previous one. I managed to get all the steps right (so far) and also managed to eliminate some minor hiccups. Again, thank you very much for sharing this information. I do want to ask if the following is possible: At our school we have to monitor and screen every students temperature before they enter the school (Covid regulations). By using Google Docs and Forms the way you already have it set up, is it possible to add an extra "function" so that when a students temperature has been taken, we can somehow enter it onto Google Forms after we scan the QR Code? In the end when we create the Google sheet with all the data gathered from Google Forms, the sheet will show the timestamp, their name etc. and their temperature recorded on that day? Thank you again.

Absolutely, however there will be some user-input required so you can record the temperature. Just add another question to the Google Form (maybe in another section) for the temperature. Then submit and you're all done.

Hi Morgan, I have a video in the work for checking in and out. I've got it all set up but have lost my voice at the moment. That same video will also filter out depending on which day you select. Thank you for the tutorials. A 1/4 of my entries, still have blanks in the image cell even after adding the array formula and trim. There aren't any spaces. The odd thing is when I accidentally deleted the URL for one, the image appears. I don't know how to fix it.

Hi Ricardo, You could turn on the "Record email" option in the Google Form. The downside to this is that it won't automatically go straight to the "Form Response" screen and will only go to the "View Form" screen and the professor will need to click on the Submit button for each student. I have a few other Attendance videos coming out over the next four weeks, so stay tuned and I'll give you more options for taking attendance!

I have tried with different question filled out not just name and it worked by clicking the link. But when i scan the QR, it only answers the name , even though it is directly link to the URL. Maybe theres a limit a QR can read? Or do i need a different QR formula?

If you've got multiple questions in Google Form, you'll need to find the Question ID and Response ID for those. You can do that by using the same old pre-fill trick to determine which question matches which URL ID

Hi Ms Lebomath, Unfortunately Google's image APIs no longer support QR codes. It's only a new rollout over the last two weeks. Fortunately, we can get around it by building your own App using App Sheet. Hi Patrick, A way to overcome this is to use an encodeurl function around the cell that holds the students' names

i would like to add data aside from names however when i try to copy the prefilled link MANIALLY and change it to formResponse, under CSV file only the name appears

Hi Reina, You cannot use a CSV spreadsheet for this project. It must be done in Google Sheets. Excel doesn't have QR functionality. There are ways around adding extra data, but it depends on what data you want to add. If it's like a person's temperature or current mood or something like that, then that won't be added with the pre-fill link. It will need to be selected or written when the QR is scanned. If it's something connected to that person, like which class they're in, it's best not to do that in the Google Form but instead download the info from your Student Management System and connect the info together afterwards.

Hi Crystel. URLs cannot accept spaces in names. That means you either need to add a hyphen to both your Google Form and Spreadsheet, or see if you can use the tip in the Google Sheet section of this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/n5V9w9SmmNfMk7w.html

Hey my friend, I followed your very well done video; however, when scanning the QRC, all of the URL is not being created in the QR Code. The last name of the student just pops up as text. I have deleted this and recreated this QRCode with the same results. Any hints on how to resolve. When i click the URL directly, the response is logged and everything works.

Try scanning using BinaryEye. Theee seems to have been a change in camera apps recently that prevents direct linking to the right page.

@@HashAliNZ You are a genius, the BinaryEye has been flawless. Is my understanding correct, I would have to repeat this process of creating the form for the responses for each new event. The Names would be the same but the Response form and QRC would be new for each event.

@@mbmnpsprs11 Yes, if you have mutiple events then it would need multiple QRs. However if you just have one event repeated each day, you can continue using the same QR code indefinteily - the Google Form records the time and date it was scanned.

Thank you for this follow up video. Am experiencing the same issue of having the QR code image leading me to an unpopulated form view without student's name populated. The URL links works fine leading to an individual's form response. Any solutions to this?

Hi I am wondering if you can help me, I am getting an error that says “You can’t respond to “blank” form because you don’t have permission” and then on the view form page next to the email it says not shared. Do you know why this is? Thank you so much.

Hi Ashley, this could be because the Form is from a restricted domain - for example if the Form was made in a school and you're trying to complete it from a non-school account. Or it could be because the Form has been deleted. You'd need to un-restrict the Form, which would probably require your admin or IT people to do.

It only does it with 1 option huh? Because I tried to do it with something you have to type in and it didn’t work. Or maybe I just couldn’t figure it out?

Why is it not scanning automatically in google lens? You need to click the shutter to scan? I there a possible way on how you could solve this?

That's a limitation of Google Lens, and for good reason. It'd be a security risk if a QR code was scanned and it automatically goes to whatever is in the QR link. BinaryEye bypasses that so you can automatically scan without having to click anything.

Interesting! I didn't realise hyphens wouldn't work. You can just replace them or get rid of them. Remember, you're the only person that sees the background coding.
