As of now, Droog is closing in on a run of 6(!) albums this year, and he just announced what i hope will be a full album with Madlib. YOD will easily go down in the history books as one of the best to ever do it!

And he just keeps getting better. Sheesh.

I mean he's prolly rapping in Ukrainian. Obviously they're from the same language family but they aren't identical. He also prolly had to modify the bars a bit to fit with the english bars.

Great video. I've known Edan since he went to Berklee in Boston and dropped his album Primitive Plus. Edan is a perfectionist and if you want to see what a perfect YOD album will sound like - it will likely be the one produced by Edan.

ДРУГ (DROOG) means friend in Russian, not in Ukrainian. The word "DROOG" is taken from Anthony Burgess's "A Clockwork Orange". In this book, the characters spoke in slang, mixing English with Russian words. Matter-of-fact. 90 percent of people living in Ukraine speak Russian, including Jews.

I don’t speak the language myself so I’m not sure but when I google it the translation says Droog means “close friend”. Wouldn’t be the first time that google had faulty info though

Droog does mean friend, Burgess borrowed that word from Russian. The word for friend is ever so slightly different in Ukrainian, but I’m sure theres some overlap
