I believe her intentions were good because sometimes we think that everyone should have a loving relationship with their families, but sometimes it doesn't work like that. The way I can relate to this is mind blowing. I went through this same thing with my fiancée mother. Her family is very toxic, they hated for her to have an opinion of her own or her own life. Her mother sent her brother over to fight me all because I wouldn’t let them show up to our house uninvited. He wanted to fight lol but I wasn’t gonna give him the time of day. Then the name calling started lol ( I was 22 at the time he was in his 50’s, that’s when I knew THE WHOLE FAMILY was mentally gone lol, I didn’t see him as a 50 some year old man, I seen him as a 5 year old little boy fighting demons & in that moment he was trying to dump his insecurities on me. May I add I’am also a woman, which I still held my ground & paid him no mind. Once he seen his words wasn’t hurting me he pepper sprayed me lol. Cops got called ofc they all was standing outside acting as they were the victim(Her family) Lmfao. Till this day her family continues to invite me to everything & I nicely decline it. That shows you I was never the problem lol if I continued to get invites. Because believe it or not toxic family members know exactly what they are doing & they want to see if you are weak enough to take it. Once I showed them right then & there I wasn’t the one to play with that’s when they wanted to show respect & wanted to be a big happy family lol, I still don’t deal with them till this day no matter how many invites I get. With that being said it sounds like his mother doesn’t know how to take accountability in her wrong doings, trust me I know first hand when I see it. It’s time for him to heal & move his family away from the toxicity, so their kids don’t grow up with trauma from his mom. He is the generational curse breaker & he will notice once he heal & accept his mother the way she is, let her drown in her own toxicity. I understand his wife point of view as well, I was once the same, I wanted to save my fiancée from her family for 3 years out of 4 but it took me having a deep talk with myself & God to understand that wasn’t my battle to fight, so his wife will understand too, she just needs to listen more & hear his pain. He said he didn’t want to move back, she should have listened then. I pray they bypass this & get the help & healing they all need for their children. May God bless💙💙💙

Sometimes and unfortunately, you have to cut people (family included) all the way out of your life.. and the hardest part may very well be, NOT getting any "closure".. especially when you realize that, in order for you to move on.. you're going to have to forgive them, for what they aren't sorry for.

My family is toxic to my mental health and I moved 1500 miles because without the physical boundaries they will not let up and respect me. My friends or anyone that showed favor toward me were often disrespected, not because they did anything wrong to me, but because bullying me became commonplace within my family.
