Your Habitat Work Will Pay Off - Oldest Buck Ever!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Janice had a great morning harvesting this big ole' buck. He was only on the property because of all the work and strategy we have implemented over the last few years. If you have the right plan and are doing the right work, you will improve your hunting too.

I look forward to every episode. Congratulations to Janice and what a great season! Making the most of your property, Mark, really encourages me to keep after it! This yr I have my best food plots ever, but I’m way behind you on some of the other work I need to do. One of the first of your episodes I saw you talked about making a plan, planning for your hunting success. We’ll, I’m getting results from that and other videos. Thanks, man!

Hey Kevin, congratulations on your buck! That first one on your property will be remembered forever, such a satisfying feeling because it is more than just the hunt, it is all the work saving money and sacrificing other things in life to purchase and improve the habitat on the land. So happy for you. All the best to you.

Mark - as always, great stuff!! Check out cementum annuli aging in future - if you want to get more accurate age estimates. We use it for every buck on the farm now and it’s been a big help!! Have a Merry Christmas!

Yes, about 5 years ago. Implemented a lot of it, had to modify and tweak it based on MY use of the property. I should probably do a video on my consultant experience and thoughts, hmmm. All the best to you.

I like your channel. Found it a few years ago. I watch sporadically. Hunting is different things to different people but I think most will agree that shooting a buck from your house while cooking breakfast isn’t hunting. I love what you’ve done with your property and enjoy your informative videos and will always be a fan but this one really doesn’t sit well with me. I’m from PA, and I’m pretty sure that harvesting a deer like that isn’t even legal in our state and many states across the country. Don’t quote me on that but the “fair chase” argument definitely comes into play here. Keep making great, informative videos but don’t let the antis see this one.

Hey Jason, people like you are the reason I so greatly appreciate the followers of this channel! A respectful comment of disagreement instead of a bashing...thank you. As you can see, I don't have an issue with harvesting game from the house, we consider it the "big blind" on our property. However, I do take issue with some other forms of hunting different game in our state, and the method of take that I find morally challenging to me, but I treat them like you treated me, with respect for their personal decision, as long as it is lawful. And just to be clear, in Michigan (and Pennsylvania and most others), taking game from your house is 100% legal as long as you are a certain distance from any other occupied buildings, not within city limits, and follow all other laws like licensing, weapons, season etc... This buck was taken 100% legally, so I hope this helps it settle with you over time. All the best to you.
