When working for BR if a copper said there was a chance of a bomb around, chance of getting blown up, we didn't need telling twice. We went straight away, in fact its the only time i took a passenger service train out early, due to a bomb threat.

I thought we only had morons like that over here in the States. I’m having a really hard time wrapping my head around the gross stupidity that is occurring in people now a days. It’s not like construction was occurring, or some sort of group event of some sort. Sometimes I think things were better back in the old days when the officer was allowed to just give him a hard cuff, and throw him in the clink for a few days to smarten up.

That decorative brass rod is a "Stair rod", they held carpets on stairs in position, as a lad it was my job to clean them once a week. That young grunt of a man, must be entering for the Darwin Awards maybe?

If people like you don't do it for FREE, then surely the local council should be footing the bill to do it. As I can't see that happening in a month if Sundays, just ignore anyone that says you can't. If itbever gets to court (which I'm sure it wouldn't) the council would be made to look such fools that they'd probably end up paying you to get it done. They obviously wouldn't want such negative consequences, especially as you've donated so many artifacts to their museums.

If by any chance your title refers to the police being upset about having to deal with potentially dangerous items that you find from time to time then I think that they are missing the point. You are performing a service for all of us by ensuring that these items are removed and destroyed, apart from the benefits of all the scrap removal and recycling that you undertake voluntarily.

The police responsibility is to protect the public and you are going to argue with him insisting on your rights, as a member of the public and you have the right to walk down the path where the bomb is. Would he be arguing with the police if a sniper was shooting at that area of walkway, obviously a member of the stupid club.
