Evening gents, I believe that the sword handles you found are actually off cuts of railway track. The rippled burr on the one face is caused by flame cutting.
@philyew3617

That saves me writing the same thing. Yes it's when they've had to trim a rail to the correct length.

@@philyew3617 I agree. The profile looked like a piece cut off the track rail and the grooves looked like a cutting torch was used. I know nothing about this stuff, but was guessing. USA

YOUR BACK!! It’s so great seeing the family back on the canals again. Dad’s looking good after his sad ordeal. Mum’s back behind the camera and of course there’s the world famous George. All happy and making treasured memories as a family. I just love it.

Did not know Dad was sick. So happy to see him better and that you are all back! 👍👍👍 Dang, George just keeps growing! Wow, how tall?
At 2:45 that looks like a slice of railroad track, I have one I found in my grandfather's old metal working tools. It was common back in the 50's to use them as small homemade anvils around here.
Were so happy to see you guys back in action ! Glad to know your father is doing better. Please let the camara lady know she dose a great job too.❤🎉🥳
There is definitely a feeling among your followers, myself included, to see your back in the SWING of things once again !!! I had no idea you were not feeling well, only that you were not making videos. I am thrilled that you have recovered and feel well enough to carry on the legacy that is "Magnetic G". Your smiles, and the excitement you feel at the treasures you pull out of the water have been much missed. God bless your family with renewed strength and health...welcome back from a fan all the way from Fryeburg, Maine 🦌

So happy to see you back, not knowing what happened to your Dad, it's wonderful he is well. May God bless all of you. Edited:on one of your videos your dad found a double cannon ball. I have one that I found here across the pond, I thought it was a weight lifting device.. hence..it was checked out with a historical society and found to be a double cannon ball.. thanks to you both, I learned it was worth a good pound/ dollar.
So tickled this morning to wake up with a notification from Magnetic George. My and husband and I were eager and excited to watch you guys again !!! So thankful your dad is feeling better and hopefully actually not having a lot of pain from the accident. You all take care and Have FUN !!!
Good to see you out and making videos again. I don’t care what those guys are saying, you found a sword 🗡️😂. Never lose your imagination. Life would be boring without one.
So great to have you both back and to see your happy smiling faces. Great video and a fantastic haul. 👏. Do hope to see more videos in the not too distant future. 🙏
Great video George, really good to see your dad back and recovered.
Happy to see you all back. Hope dad continues to recover. Thanks to camera lady for the recording and happy to see you gentleman out recording again.
Glad to see you both healthy and out together again!
The long thing with 4 holes @ about 20 minutes is called a Fishplate. It's purpose is to join 2 track lengths together with through bolts. There would be a Fishplate on each side if the rail, so the rail sections are sandwiched between. The flat item with the recess and 2 bolt holes is called a bed plate or pedestal, which spreads the weight of the track over a large area of the sleepers. These are bolted down to the sleepers with long bolts. They are used in conjunction with those curly springs, which are called Pandrol clips. The Pandrol clips keep the rails clamped down hard to the bed plate.

Hi George and Mike! I so happen to be a railway enthusiast. I enjoy railroads/railways from around the world even though I'm from across the pond. You found some neat stuff. The heavy curled metal rings are Pantrol clips. They are used to hold the track to the sleeper using that big screw-bolt. The railway workers use a special machine to install those unlike the olden days when a gang of trackworkers using shovels, pick axes and mallets to clip the rails to the sleepers. Today, the process is even automated more with big rolling machines that not only place the clips, but also screw the track into place. Following behind are other machines that will ballast the track (the stones), and align the track to ensure smooth running. The big flat metal plate with the ridges on either side is used under the rails as they clip to the sleepers. A thinner piece of heavy steel with about 4-holes in it, that would be a fishplate. These are used to hold the rails together when they butt up against the ends. That big T-shaped piece of iron is a cut off piece of rail. The trackworkers must've trimmed a piece of rail to make the rails fit together not unlike a model railway except much bigger. The smaller piece of rail is most likely from the guide rails used on bridges. These are smaller weight rails that are placed inside the track to catch a train and prevent it from going off a bridge. (They don't always work but mostly do!). That handle-thing appears to be a turnbuckle. On your railways, you use chains to link the rolling stock (wagons and coaches) together. There is a turnbuckle to tighten the connection to ensure that the coaches and wagons are tight against the buffers between them. Here in the US and Canada, we use a different coupling system that uses big hooks that connect together. They are actually much safer than the chains.
Wow, amazing day. Track clips, track bolts, track chairs, track offcuts, fishplates, track clips and a track explosive. But keep hold of the track bolt key, not many come out the cut!
It's good see you again! Good job!
Fantastic! So good to see you guys out and well. Will be awaiting the next one and would love to see your sword refurbished. Love and prayers 😇💜

I've read several of the comments but I want to continue to believe the 2 objects "Dad" found are 2 pieces of a very old medeval sword!! Take care of yourselves. Glad to see the dynamic duo is back & safe aswell as healed
Great to see you 2 blokes again. 😊. 👊🏻 That sword handle is a slice of railway track.. I agree that the rings hold the rails to the ties. I’ve seen them used on tracks before. 👍🏻
Happy your family is back in action! Prayers that Dad is all well and healthy!
i'm sure i speak for everyone on here in hoping u guys+camera lady are all fit and well..i know theres more to life than making magnet fishing vids, but you've all been sorely missed..would it be possible to have an update in the new year..thanks.. anyway, have a fantastic xmas and a new year 🤞👍
I'm late in watching, as usual, so happy to see you boys back and looking in good health. That's was an amazing day. I've never seen these kind of railway parts, not any for that matter. Ya'll must be lighting headbutt weights to get in shape for these fishing trips. I hope to see a lot more of your adventures in magnet fishing soon! Take care, from Florida ♥️🧓🌺🌴🐊🐍🦈
Great to see you all out. Didn’t know that Dad was I’ll but wishing you all good health, happiness and blessings. Good video
Hi Both, Great to have you back. The metal bar with 4 holes in, that's a fish plate holding the rail tracks together. The funny S shaped metal rings are the new style track clips. George was correct, the large long handled key, was for tightening track bolts into the sleeper.
welcome back boys great video xx
