YOUR FRESH NEW BEGINNING--HOW TO GET STARTED FOLLOWING CHRIST AFTER SLIDING AWAY FROM HIM

NEW BEGINNINGS & HOW TO GET STARTED FOLLOWING CHRIST AFTER SLIDING AWAY FROM HIM
BEWARE OF-Overconfident Watchlessness
Many of the seven letters from Christ mention local events that those who lived in that city and attended that fellowship would understand. Here in Sardis, it is the “watchfulness” allusion that rings in their minds. They all knew that twice their city fell to the invading armies of enemies because the soldiers who guarded them had slept on the job.
Sardis was built upon a thousand-foot-high cliff overlooking a fertile valley. This mountaintop location provided such an apparently unscalable wall of protection in the natural rock formations that it seemed impregnable to any attack other than through the heavily fortified entrance gates.
Yet Sardis was captured twice in history before this letter from Jesus arrived, and all the inhabitants knew why. Both Cyrus the Persian (in 549 BC) and Antiochus the Greek (in 218 BC), were able to take the city almost without a fight: both times because of its slackness.
Each time Sardis fell, enemy troops watched the guards on the cliff top, saw the hidden paths they used to get down to the valley, and used those same paths to creep up at night and take the city. In each conquest, when the troops scaled the precipice by night, they found that the overconfident inhabitants of Sardis had either set no guard or were sleeping in the guardhouse.
Sleeping on the job was a physical sign of overconfidence for any soldier tasked with guard duty.
Sleeping spiritually, by not guarding against the wiles of the Devil, is a sign of overconfidence for any believer. Jesus was warning them:
Beware of
Overconfidence
There was a clear parallel that the believers in Sardis would have caught and that all of us in the following generations of Christ’s church should heed. Thus, we have the key that unlocks the meaning of Christ's words for Sardis.
Jesus points directly at their need for watchfulness and ours. Jesus often used this metaphor of watching, staying awake, and sleeping in His teaching. He used it in several parables, contrasting the good and bad servants. Here are some of Christ’s key lessons in the Gospels:
Christ’s Lesson 1: Believers are to stay vigilant so that nothing keeps them from living for Christ's coming.

Job 33:15-18 King James Version 15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; 16 Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, 17 That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man. 18 He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.

Dr. Barnett, I am a Catholic and a believer. I watch your programs every day now and just bought one of your books today; Living Hope. I have 2 questions for you if I may. I hope you see this and you can answer. You mention "Born again Christians". Am I considered born again if I was Baptized as a baby? Or do I need to be baptized again? Second and last question. Are the Left Behind books correct when they say we will be raptured? There seems to be a lot of confusion going back I believe to a minister from the 18th century. I thought it was only God's Church meaning priests e.t.c but not us. If WE ARE raptured as a part of the Church, then why are Christians or new believers left to try and survive the Tribulation. Many thanks Dr. Barnett and thanks for your patience. Sheila

Martin Luther (1483 - 1546) “nothing else than the kingdom of Babylon and of very Antichrist. For who is the man of sin and the son of perdition, but he who by his teaching and his ordinances increases the sin and perdition of souls in the church; while he yet sits in the church as if he were God? All these conditions have now for many ages been fulfilled by the papal tyranny.” (Martin Luther, First Principles, pp. 196-197) Francisco Ribera (1537-1591) was a Spanish Jesuit theologian, identified with the Futurist Christian eschatological view. Rev 12:6,14, Rev 13:5, Dan 7:25, 12:7 etc etc was the Protestant Reformation of Christ leading the Church out of Papal dark ages where all Protestant Churches, Baptist, Presbyterian, Methodist, Wesleyan Holiness, Evangelicals etc etc saw the Papacy as that anti-christ. Futurism/ Dispensationalism which came from the Papacy is to counter the Protestant Reformation of Christ. Thou it was invented in 1590, it was in the 1980's that the Church began to extensively believe in this false interpretation of prophecy! Rejecting the Historicism truth of Jesus Christ. Rev 18:4 God is calling His people out of Catholicism and Apostate Protestantism Rev 17:5 Mother and daughters in His Commandments keeping Church having the testimony of Jesus Christ Rev 12:17, 14:12, His Remnant.

Infant baptism does not deliver or save your soul. The Bible is our sure anchor and as an adult you need to make the commitment to Jesus. The sacraments do not save you.

Pastor contradicting himself. Says when Christ appear shall live with him in glory. In previous video said immediately as righteous die they go to heaven! In another video said Christ comes for the Christian at death before the rapture! Matthew 16:27 KJV For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. If the dead goes to heaven or hell at death; what Christ gonna do? Draw a person out of burning hell them give his reward and send him back to hell? Or the same in heaven? Matthew 16:12 KJV Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. Matthew 15:8-9 KJV This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. [9] But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. These Pastors only profess Christ with their mouths but their heart and teaching is just as the stubborn unbelieving Jews, 1 Tim 4:1,2, 2 Tim 4:3,4, teaching for doctrines the commandments of the Antichrist the Papacy Rev 14:8!

NOT an expert by any means...If one breaks down your sentences...since some statements were preseneted from another video.... A good Theologian may be making these statements in the CONTEXT of what they are speaking about....if one reads each individual sentence you have written, from the speaker...they seem pretty clear... each sentence is referring to a specific type of event... a) when christ APPEARS (and remains on the earth): "WHEN Christ appears ( on earth) shall live with him in glory"... b) WHEN a believer, righteous PERSON DIES.. ( prior to Jesus' coming or whatever) "As righteous DIE ( NOT when Jesus is here on earth) they go to heaven' c) WHEN Christ COMES to Christians, Prior to any Rapture event, Christ takes his followers... 3 explanations in reference to three different kinds of events... Usually, as Dr. John and other good theologians insists Readers/listeners are NOT TAKE ANYONE"s words for it, but to READ and interpret biblical content. In doing so; examine with discernment, read and study the words in CONTEXT: to whom it is written and for what purpose is it expressed ? You know... the good old Where, what when and how of interpretation/understanding kind of thing.... No human is perfect, as pastors are here to guide, and instruct.... Peace to you...

@@djmarie2058 Revelation 20:6 KJV Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. Revelation 22:11-12 KJV He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. [12] And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. According to scripture; not twisting of scripture as unbelieving Jews St John 7:52. There is only 2 events; 1st and 2nd resurrection. All receives there reward when Jesus comes. Whether eternal life live and reign with Christ for a thousand years in heaven Rev 20:4, or 2nd resurrection after second resurrection! Pastors get their doctrines from the Antichrist the Papacy Rev 14:8, 17:1,2,5, 19:2 that has corrupted Christianity!
