Another wonderful video, Vanessa! I only wish there were beech trees anywhere around me. I have a question about your videos in general, though: Do you upload to any other platforms besides KZread, such as Rumble or Bitchute for instance? KZread is making it extremely difficult on users to continue to watch on this platform because of adblockers, and I can only assume their tyranny and despotism will get worse. Ultimately, I'd like to migrate away from youtube altogether, but I'd want to be sure my favorite channels can be seen elsewhere first. Thank you for all you do! Much love from the USA! ❤🤍💙

Vids such as this have prompted me to learn more about our local vegetation here in Australia. Could be even more important than in Europe as we have many species which are toxic and appear similar to non toxic edible plants. Nice to know that if ever we are in shtf situation you can still survive after everyone raids whats left in the supermarkets.

What interests me most about Ötzi and what he carried was that there was no such thing as harmless misinformation or a snake oil sold in 3000BC. He was not in a position to buy the over-the-counter, homeopathic remedy at his local convenience store on a lark just to see if it worked or not. Life and death were the stakes every single day and they had no choice but to trust the things they saw work or were told by trusted, wise people to be effective. Modern, evidenced germ theory wasn't confirmed until Leeuwenhoek invented the microscope in the 1670s AD. Predecessors to modern germ theory existed in antiquity as early as 400 BC. But literally thousands of years before even that, civilized people had an effective knowledge of things that worked even if they had no way to explain how or why.

The only thing I know about mushrooms is that unless you are 100% certain about it you’re safer leaving it alone. Does anyone know if there is a similar looking mushroom that is possibly toxic that can be confused with this one (possibly one that grows on a different species of tree)?

This is quite fascinating. In the US, we have Fagus grandifolia, mostly restricted to the northeast. I have never seen this mushroom there, but I was not specifically looking for it. It is very eye-catching. My interest in mushrooms so far is primarily for food, but also for tinder. In the western US we have few birches (no beeches) and so are unable to find amadou or chaga. Amadou is such a blessing to the friction fire process I ordered a lifetime supply of processed felt from Romania. So I'm good. ;-/

What I find interesting is that our ancestors would try all sorts of things (eating, cooking, drinking, poultice, etc.) not having any idea if it would work or not. Even thinking that if another animal ate something it is safe for humans is dangerous in some cases. I feel sorry for those that tried and were poisoned for their efforts. The wealth of knowledge they were able to retain and pass on without books/illustrations is amazing.

@@redpillnibbler4423 I wouldn’t necessarily say they were more intelligent/wise than we are today. They knew the “natural” environment far better than we individually do if for no other reason than they had to to survive. Today we don’t “need” to know as much individually because most things are simply given/processed/packaged for us without the need to know how to find/make/use it. Although they did travel/migrate over time a vast majority of their life was spent in one area with a subset of the world’s biodiversity whereas we today have access to pretty much everything the world has to offer. Their knowledge was built up over time just as ours is today. Our use of the “natural” world was undoubtedly built upon their knowledge at its core and expanded upon in each succeeding generation even to the point of loss of individual knowledge simply because we as individuals don’t “need” to know it anymore. We today “destroy” our natural environment often without knowing we are doing it in the name of progress. The lack of intelligence/wisdom comes in with our failure to rectify the destructive elements once we know they are destructive. Early agriculture would plant the same crops over and over again in the same area until they realized lower productivity over time then found out about crop rotation to maintain the grounds “health”. Originally they had no knowledge of the various minerals in the earth and how the various crops needed/used them but over time and experimentation worked it out and only recently (in man’s history terms) were we able to classify and understand individual crops needs.

I’ve no doubt that ancient peoples had deep knowledge of natural medicines etc. and were very much part of the land. I’d go further and suggest people were more intelligent in many ways than so called ‘civilised’ man.

PS: I shall keep reminding you that "Death" is a delusion Sister... The words "Have faith in me as you shall see the Kingdom of Heaven" are meant for "everyone" to heed ... as they "negate" the existence of Death ! The one who was Jesus didn't say he was God ... the "Title" Christ describes the one who was chosen by Our Father [God / Allah / Buddha etc] ... and Jesus said that he believed that he might be "that" one ... that is why they murdered him / sent him back to Our Father [God / Allah / Buddha etc] ... because he was, and that meant that all of the Emperors of Rome [past / present and future] were nothing but nefarious cannibalistic murdering liars / false Gods / evil criminals etc. Changing the title to "Pope" alters nothing in that regard. We don't "die" when our time here comes to an end ... we continue to exist, regardless of "faith" ... and those who use anti-Christian terminology whilst they are here, do so either to appease anti-Christian false Gods and their worshippers, or by accident. The one known as Ötzi still carries his ancient knowledge with him where ever he goes. It is "not" lost to him.
